There is no "other" category. You must choose one of the above.  Please explain the reason for your selection.

Hrm. Well, we need politicians, like it or not.

The clergy also provides a valuable service, albeit one I don't avail myself of.

Pornographers are just capitalists, and (generally) provide products only people want; I can't object to what's done consensually.

Lawyers, once again, provide valuable services. I like lawyers. <And the ones that are more scummy can be highly entertaining as well>.

Film/TV Executives, as much as they screw things up, are at least doing the honourable thing in trying to maximize their profits.

Telemarketers and spammers, however, use resources I pay for to give me their ads. Ergo, they 'win'.

Devil's AdvocateProfessional Hitman and assassins are just out to do well in their business too. ;)  And they do provide a servgice the person who pays them want. ;)  Just because you provide a service based on capitalism doesn't mean it is a good thing.

Pornographers. By process of elimination.

The rest have some redeeming qualities. Politicians, lawyers and the clergy are all servants of civil or religious ends. Telemarketers could be working for a charity. Or they could simply be people doing their jobs, filling a chair. And TV/film executives aren't all Kevin Sorbo or Phil Segal.

Pornographers offer nothing redeeming to the world. Don't expect me to explain this further--- I think this whole poll is kind of a silly idea, though I'm glad Drew isn't afraid to be silly every once in a while.

Didja miss this part? ;)

I can't object to what's done consensually.

In your hitmen example, it's inherently a non-consensual act; therein lies the difference. Pornography, on the other hand, is generally filmed with consenting parties.

I when with spammers/telemarketers.  I agree with Rov's assessment.  I have been known to watch a porno movie or two.  I much prefer soft porn and ones made by women were the filming is more dreamy  and romantic.  And we didn't see body parts up close and personal.  So even porn can be done artistically and when it is, I have no objection.

Aren't you missing a few groups that far outrank any of these?  Like:  child molestors, rapists, people who hurt animals, people who hurt the elderly???

Yes, but those would all fall under the label of "criminals."

Telemarketers are a close second.

I've been trying to figure out why I'm angry (aside from the obvious and those of you who want to tell me not to take it personally can bite me).  I nailed it.  I find it insulting as hell that a poll like this was posted by the alleged poster boy for NOT engaging in gross generalizations.

Sorry, Lil. Please know that I mean no disrespect to your profession.  I just listed those people who tend to come in last in "trusted figures" polls. Hey, I listed members of the clergy, too. And you might expect I tend to favor such people.  (And I should have listed the Press, now that I think about it.)
