AP: Ronald Reagan Dies at Age 93

St. Louis must be destroyed!

Me: "I have a job and five credit cards and am looking into signing a two year lease.  THAT MAKES ME OLD."
Josh: "I don't have a job, I have ONE credit card, I'm stuck in a lease and I'm 28! My mom's basement IS ONE BAD DECISION AWAY!"
~~ Josh, winning the argument.

An old man, broken with the storms of state
Is come to lay his weary bones among ye;
Give him a little earth for charity.
--Shakespeare, Henry VIII, Act IV, Scene 2, l. 22
"Some day, after we have mastered the wind, the waves, the tides, and gravity,
We shall harness for God the energies of Love.
Then, for the second time in the history of the world,
we will have discovered fire."

Woah...  just the other day I was looking at pictures of him and Errol Flynn back in his acting days, strange to think of him as gone, but 93 is a good age to reach.
"Ah, get born, keep warm
Short pants, romance, learn to dance
Get dressed, get blessed
Try to be a success
Please her, please him, buy gifts
Don't steal, don't lift
Twenty years of schoolin'
And they put you on the day shift..."

The man who took the USSR to task despite efforts by those in his country. Who told Gorby "Tear Down this Wall" and was critized for it. Who took us out of a the depression of Jimmy Carter and returned a level of national pride to our armed forces. That man has gone. God take him to you and see to his suffering and ease his mind.

Damn.

I had the honor of meeting Mr. Reagan once. He left me with the impression of being a man of wit and intelligence, and his absence will be keenly felt.

Godspeed, sir.

Rest in peace, sir, for your services to your country and to the world.
Yea, ere my hot youth pass, I speak to my people and say:
Ye shall be foolish as I; ye shall scatter, not save;
Ye shall venture your all, lest ye lose what is more than all;
Ye shall call for a miracle, taking Christ at His word.
And for this I will answer, O people, answer here and hereafter,

I don't think this is much of a surprise, but at least he's not suffering now. :(
The longest-running science fiction series: decadent, degenerate and rotten to the core. Power-mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans... Cybermen! They're still in the nursery compared to us. Fifty years of absolute fandom. That's what it takes to be really critical.

On the one hand, I am sad to see him go.

On the other, Alzheimer's is a nasty disease, and I am glad he has ended his ordeal with that.

I offer well wishes for what is next for the man.

Prayer of Passage

Oh Goddess
There is great sadness
A cherished one has gone

Emptyness engulfs me
Loss languishes within
Help me bear this grief

Accompany their spirit
Comfort we who grieve
Let us rejoice in their life

May their essence be recorded
In the Great Book of Shadows
Renew our rememberance with joy

Dance as if no one were watching, sing as if no one were listening, and live every day as if it were your last.  --Irish Proverb

RIP, Reagan.  Didn't live during your presidency, but respect you for what you have done (even if I don't agree with all of it politically).
"Courtesy is how we got civilized. The blind assertion of rights is what threatens to decivilize us. Everybody's got lots of rights that are set out legally. Responsibilities are not enumerated, for good reason, but they are set into the social fabric. Is it such a sacrifice to not be an a**hole?"

A very sad day for his family and for this nation. A glorious day for Mr. Reagan - who no longer suffers.
