Thing is Gode, I don't think that lack of control over where one is born should necessarily dictate a person's level of patriotism. It has to do with the degree of alignment between an individual and the principles sought to be implemented by a country. I love Mexico. I am not a patriot of Mexico. I grieve for its hardships though. I *am* a patriot of America because the principles upon which it is founded agree with me. This is not to say that America comes anywhere close to perfection in the living of those principles. Then again, America is made up of humans and perfection is not a human quality.
