Took me forever just to get a name down...........

Quote

The Holy Empire of Eclair is a tiny, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its burgeoning tiger population. Its hard-nosed population of 5 million are fiercely patriotic and enjoy great social equality; they tend to view other, more capitalist countries as somewhat immoral and corrupt.

The enormous government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Healthcare, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 31%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Woodchip Exports industry, followed by Furniture Restoration and Retail.

Crime is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force. Eclair's national animal is the tiger, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the credit.

^^ I saw you there! :)

Well, my nation is going from bad to worse, apparently.... maybe approving public floggings was a bad idea? LOL!  Notwithstanding, I'm proud of my little nation's accomplishments...

The Holy Republic of The Liberian Union is a small, devout nation, renowned for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 8 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The large government juggles the competing demands of Religion & Spirituality, Law & Order, and Education. The average income tax rate is 21%. A robust private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing, Woodchip Exports, and Soda Sales industries.

Citizens select which government department gets their income tax Tests each year, the tenet of free speech is held dear, and thieves are flogged in public for their crimes. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Liberian Union's national animal is the nightingale and its currency is the Test.

The Liberian Union is ranked 8th in the region and 112,653rd in the world for Most Subsidized Industry.

I'm kinda proud of being 8th in a region of eight on the subject of subsidized industry! :)  A little disappointed that my income tax average went UP, but still proud that my citizens get to choose how to spend their Tests.

BTW, I chose the name "Tests" for my monetary unit, because that's how I'm thinking of money these days, and I want my citizens to look at money that way.  What will you do with your money?  Hurt yourself, help yourself? Hurt others? Help others? Etc....

OK... found out what the UN Categories mean:

http://ns.goobergunch.net/nsmap.jpg

The fun thing is that I have three nations - one "Holy Republic" and two "Theocracies" but no matter how differently I answer the questions, so far I'm in the Economic Centrist position, the personal liberties centrist position, and centrist in the political freedoms position (authoritarian in the Holy Republic).

I never knew I was so "centrist"...

After a brief and shameful stint as a corrupt dictatorship with some civil rights, a weak economy and few political freedoms, I've been successful at leading my nation back to "father knows best" status with some civil rights, a good economy, and few political freedoms.  Apparently, the difference between being a father knows best state and a corrupt dictatorship is the strength of your economy...

The Holy Republic of The Liberian Union is a large, devout nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its compassionate, hard-working, cynical population of 23 million are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

The large government is mainly concerned with Religion & Spirituality, although Defence and Education are secondary priorities. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 16%. A healthy private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Woodchip Exports and Soda Sales.

The government's religious works are headed by a New Age guru, the wearing and manufacture of fur apparel is banned, army rations are served on silver platters, and Pinkerton agents are called in to forcibly break up white collar strikes. Crime is moderate. The Liberian Union's national animal is the nightingale, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Test.

The Liberian Union is ranked 3rd in the region and 60,893rd in the world for Lowest Crime Rates.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low. Cameloia's national animal is the camel and its currency is the camela.

we already made most recreational drugs legal in Anarcanis, along with no speed limits, compulsary gun ownership, and daily freeway warfare (we call it Highway Darwinism, quite a fascinating study to be sure.)

What UN Delegation means is that you have additional voting power for our region.

Liberterian Police State
Civil Rights:  Superb
Economy:  Good
Political Freedoms:  Rare

Starting on a downturn - now my island has a barren, inhospitable landscape and the issue is whether or not to eat the national animal - the cats - in pies or on a stick. :eek4:

*********
The Queendom of Eloisel is a small, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its cynical population of 12 million are proud of their wide-ranging civil freedoms, and those who aren't tend to be dragged off the streets by men in dark suits and hustled into cars with tinted windows.

The medium-sized, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 17%, but much higher for the wealthy. A small but healthy private sector is led by the Basket Weaving industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Furniture Restoration.

Scientists regularly clone human beings for research purposes, organ donation rates have hit a new low, military spending recently hit a new high, and euthanasia is legal. Crime is moderate, and the police force struggles against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Eloisel's national animal is the cat and its currency is the bangle.

Eloisel is ranked 528th in the region and 10,055th in the world for Most Liberal Nations.

BTW--here's how the U.N. works:

-The resolutions affect all member nations, regardless of how individuals vote.  If it passes, it reflects as one of your own policies.  Each nation gets one vote, regional delegates get their vote, plus one for each U.N. nation in their region.

-Regional delegates are elected by the number of endorsements they receive from the other UN members in their region.

-Only regional delegates can propose new UN resolutions.

-This is why you should all join the UN and elect me your leader.  I'm an evil dictator and would like more power to enact my petty whims.

:D

A running theme i've seen in the UN so far is funky things that invariably raise a country's taxes to pay for.

Besides, my nation is busy sliding into total chaos.  I mean we already have citizens marrying their housepets!

Aha! But I'm Number 1 most Corrupt!! :p

As well as Best Educated, Most beautiful Environment, and according to today's list least Rude.

I found a link to a really neat Calculator for Nationstates on the Nationstates forum:

http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/

I thought it was nice to see the new data; but I'm confused.  It used to say that my governent was a libertarian police state, but we have no police and no law-enforcement budget.

I found this to be pretty fun after all.

I am the dictator of "The Empire of Jian Judain"

The Empire of Jian Judain is a small, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its absence of drug laws. Its hard-nosed, cynical population of 7 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

The enormous, corrupt government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Healthcare, and Education. The average income tax rate is 37%, but much higher for the wealthy. A substantial private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing industry, followed by Door-to-door Insurance Sales and Cheese Exports.

Elections have been outlawed, the tenet of free speech is held dear, organ donation is compulsory, and college students make ends meet by selling their kidneys. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force. Jian Judain's national animal is the the rat, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the dil.
