During the last couple of days, CNN has been making much of all the weapons caches discovered by coalition troops. The word "cache," pronounced correctly as "cash" by Centcom briefer Gen. Vincent Brooks, has proved a stumbling block for embedded reporter Jason Bellini, who refers to these finds as "cash-ays."  Apparently Jason is imagining an accent on the final "e" or has confused the term with "cachet," a distinguishing mark of honor (which derives from identifying marks stamped on letters from important people.) Anyway, no one at CNN has corrected him, and the cashays of weapons continue to be reported 24/7.

Blame it all on France, since both words are of French derivation.  :p

The  :ninja: had a hand in this, I am afraid.
Yea, ere my hot youth pass, I speak to my people and say:
Ye shall be foolish as I; ye shall scatter, not save;
Ye shall venture your all, lest ye lose what is more than all;
Ye shall call for a miracle, taking Christ at His word.
And for this I will answer, O people, answer here and hereafter,

I'd prefer to blame it on CNN, for not teaching their own to speak proper English ;) :p

It's not, after all, the French's fault we speak the most assimilating language known to human kind. ;)

A quick update: CNN's Ryan Chilcote was interviewing a platoon (brigade?) commander who was showing off the weapons seized from a cache in another part of Iraq. "So, where do the weapons in this cash come from?" Ryan says, correctly. "Most of the weapons in this cashay come from Jordan and France," the commander replies, incorrectly. Well, OK he was correct about them coming from France. See, I told you so.  :p

That's too funny :D
St. Louis must be destroyed!

Me: "I have a job and five credit cards and am looking into signing a two year lease.  THAT MAKES ME OLD."
Josh: "I don't have a job, I have ONE credit card, I'm stuck in a lease and I'm 28! My mom's basement IS ONE BAD DECISION AWAY!"
~~ Josh, winning the argument.
