New Orleans Police shot and killed at least five of eight men who had opened fire on a crew of repair contractors, the crew was crossing a bridge on their way to a repair site.  No reports of any of the contractors or police being hit in the exchange.

Then they should have had armed escorts. That's the solution.  

The solution certainly isn't to withhold aide because of a couple of goons.  Anyone who presents this theory is basically saying that some renegades kept the federal government at bay and 'they' [the government] didn't know what to do.  Right?

That's absurd.  

We apparently can get aide into foreign countries under similar circumstances [insurgency/rebel action/combat conditions] and yet we turn back when a few shots are fired, and wait.. until what??  They all just die and solve the problem that way?
