Halliburton hired for storm cleanup
The Navy has hired Houston-based Halliburton Co. to restore electric power, repair roofs and remove debris at three naval facilities in Mississippi damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Halliburton subsidiary KBR will also perform damage assessments at other naval installations in New Orleans as soon as it is safe to do so.

KBR was assigned the work under a "construction capabilities" contract awarded in 2004 after a competitive bidding process. The company is not involved in the Army Corps of Engineers' effort to repair New Orleans' levees.

Personally I don't care who they get to fix this, just as long as they know what they are doing. although, the fact that they are using a company with close ties to the administration makes me really wonder WHY the administration has dragged it's feet.
"Sometimes you get the point of the sword, sometimes the edge, sometimes the flat of the blade (even if you're the Lord of the Sword) and sometimes you're the guy wielding it. But any day without the Sword or its Lord is one that could've been better  " ~Orpheus.

Looks like the Liberal Elite of Exisle have finally managed to silence the last remaining Conservative voice on the board.

So, the assessments of the damage to and the rebuilding of the Naval installations should have started when?

Sorry but I guess I understood what LoTS was referring to.  After all on countless other threads he has been talking about the dragging of feet and why have they in regards to the relief.

I took his post to be referring to that.

And I agree with him...makes you wonder.

Oh I knew it!

It's all Clintons fault.

This whole levee thing goes back to I believe 1965.

How many Repub prez's have we had?

How many times have the Repubs had either the Senate or the House?  How long did we put up with Trickle down economics?

Oh it's the Prez's fault.

Pay no attention to the 40+ yrs that the Democratic party controlled the pursestrings we call congress.  Including the period in which these Leeves were created...  Yet they did not prepare for the day they would fail? So the leeves were fine till the republicans polled in. And then they decided to cut the funding to projects to keep cites from sinking into the sea.

It must be nice to live in perfect I have to go to walgreens.

Yeah he can veto the WHOLE Budget.  HE cannot VETO the spending in FEMA or Line 234 of the bill calling for a study of spotted owl droppings.

ANd for the record Republicans have controled congress for going on 11yrs  of the last 40.

WP I pointed out that Regan Bush(I) Clinton and Bush(II) have all used Halliburton because there is NO OTHER COMPANY that has the capascity to do the jobs assigned to them.

Ash pointed out back during the gas sitution in IRAQ that there was NO ONE ELSE DOING THE JOB

OR were you wanting the navy to Joe Bob and Emmitt the two local handymen to fix the whole base?

(This not to slam handy men but only poining out the size of the jobs)

OK I will try to explain again.

Halliburton is a company that hanldes the LOGISTICS.

That is big word meaning moving supplies to where the Armed Forces say we want something put.

Halliburton has warehouses in key points across the globe With pre positioned supplies await transportation when needed.

They have purchase agents who buy the supplies from manufactures in huge bulk to get cost savings.

They own companies that handle the mainence on the building and ships placed into their care.

This company has been used by EVERY ADMINISTRATION since the company got started. Because they had no one to compete with.
