Quote

With the planet threatening to fall into the Black Hole, the Doctor must make the ultimate sacrifice – but can he save the entire universe from the Beast?

The longest-running science fiction series: decadent, degenerate and rotten to the core. Power-mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans... Cybermen! They're still in the nursery compared to us. Fifty years of absolute fandom. That's what it takes to be really critical.

I havent seen many of the new Doctor Who eps, but i caught this one and thought it was pretty good :D
Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits, and Are melted into air, into thin air; And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve, And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind.

Oh wow . . . I liked this one alot!  Where to start?  Suspenseful, exciting, wonderful production values.  All around, a very good show!  This is hands-down my favorite episodes of the new season, perhaps of the new series alltogether.

-Favorite line:  Rose's "Go to hell."
-and "the valiant little girl that will soon die in battle . . ."
-Poor Ood. :(

I kept getting flashbacks to the last season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but that’s probably just me...
Rommie: I just want a day where I can build missiles and tweak fire control in peace
Beka: We need to find you a hobby
Rommie: That IS my hobby

Daniel: She's Hathor, the goddess of fertility, inebriety, and music
Jack: Sex, drugs and rock & roll?

Moist Von Lipvig: Oh, all right. Of course I accept as a natural born criminal, habitual liar, fraudster and totally untrustworthy perverted genius
Lord Vetinari: Capital! Welcome to government service!

Mary Raven: ....your house smells weird
Dr Vukovic: It smells of SCIENCE!

Wooster: Why is it, do you think, Jeeves, that the thought of the "little thing" my Aunt Dahlia wants me to do for her fills me with a nameless foreboding?
Jeeves: Experience, sir?

Wow! Many science fictions shows have episodes dealing with belief, but I don't remember any of them kicking as much booty (although, I don't remember any that were two-parters either). Satan was cool, the doctor mocking Satan was cool, and the philosophical questions were cool. I felt a tad bit disappointed when the doctor was hesitant about going into the pit (I'm a big suscriber to Sturgeon's "ask the next question") but I like the whole conversation leading up to it.

I'd say coincidence, but The Church Lady would know for sure. :howling:

From what I understand they pulled money from the finale to be able to do the CGI for the Beast.  :o

Money well spent if you ask me: as Gabriel said, much better than most recent horror movies and at an hour and a half, probably a little longer...

I guess they just had to spend the money they had left over, they pulled one ep. out of the schedule til next year due to the SFX so I think they'll make out OK.
