Hey all,
I just met Chris Baty a few hours ago. What a fun guy!
He had this awesome speech prepared and everything about why you should do NaNoWriMo, and he even convinced a few of my friends to do it.
I had my picture taken with him! I'm so excited! And he autographed my copy of "No Plot? No Problem!"

Lyric, I am so jealous!! I wish that the university bookstore sold No Plot, No Problem... I might have to actually buy it off Amazon or some such with my own money! What was the speech like? Just how awesome was he??

The speech was basically the backstory of NaNoWriMo, followed by the reasons you should do it, accompanied by the main excuses people use to not do it and why those excuses are bunk. 
As for how awesome he was, he was pretty frakin' awesome. He's absolutely hilarious. I didn't know he would be such a great public speaker, I thought his genius was just in the emails and his book. Indeed, he's likable and persuasive in person as well. More so, perhaps.
It was so cool, my friend actually emailed him and organised the whole thing so that he would come here, and I was in the room an hour early with her, so I got to meet him before the crowds of people did. He's very tall. I didn't think he would be that tall.
No Plot? No Problem! is an amusing book, but since you've already done NaNo, I think you probably know all the material the book contains. It's really more for first-timers with no clue. I only bought it last week so that he could autograph it.

I've got so much going on right now, I don't know if I can even do this. I've got a couple of idea floating around in the gray upstairs, but, nothing seems to be working right. If I start it, I'll try to make the 50K, but, can't guarantee I'm gonna win this year. Most of my time is spent trying to get a bunch of high schoolers to act on stage; just getting the majority of them to rehearsal would be good, right about now.
