"Oh, it's an open donation," the girl said. "You can give as much as you feel is right!"
"What's the donation for?" I asked, readying my purse.
"It's for the children's hospital!"
Well. I had $29 to my name, now I'm down to $25. I was in shock for a minute or so. Then I realised how brilliant that was. They are making way more money off of all those college students by saying it's for a children's hospital and telling them to give whatever than they would make by indicating their own prices, which is what every bake sale I've ever put on or bought from did. So I thought I would share the knowledge, if you weren't aware already, that this is the best way to do anything for charity.
See? I warned you. This is exactly what happens when somebody please thinks of the children!
I know...if only I had listened! Those blasted children.
I'm almost twenty years old and the other kids are still taking my lunch money.
