This is what Mikoto did in one of the discussion threads with some additions...


Quick reference on characters appearance and mutations:


Sophie - Age: 32. Eyes: Hazel green. Hair: Bright Auburn red, long to middle of back, thick, masses of curls. Usually pulled back into a thick ponytail, but sections are always coming loose. Ht/Wt: 5'8"/140; slender/well-defined. Mutations: Skeletal reinforcement: Her bones are more resilient, allowing her to withstand greater amounts of punishment when in a fight or in any physical situations.Elasticity: Although this is very unnerving to see her perform, she can bend and twist her body in unnatural ways and squeeze through very tight spaces.

Razor - Age: 31. Eyes: Dark brown. Hair: Dark brown, keeps cut short. Ht/Wt: 6'3"/230; large/muscular. Mutations: Fangs/ Venomous bite – natural bite attack injects poison into victim’s bloodstream; Forked tongue – like that of a snake, regular sized and slightly split but enough to be noticed if one looks carefully. Tatoos: A tattooed band of designs around bicep that covers up a skull tattoo from his old life.

Isabella - Age: 30. Eyes Blue. Hair: long and pale blond, almost white. Ht/Wt: 5'6"/130; athletic. No mutations.

Nemo - Age: Somewhere around 17/18. Eyes: Green. Hair: Light brown. Ht/Wt: 6'; tall, slim, gangly (not quite at easy with his new healthy body). Mutations: Pheromone attraction – can regulate the production of pheromones in your body and release them at will, altering the mood of nearby creatures. Darkvision – can see in total darkness out to 60 feet, black and white only

Carolyne - Age: Unknown, but between 18-20. Eyes: Green, sometimes red. Hair: Brown and slightly wavy, arrives just below the shoulder, is usually tied in a ponytail. Ht/Wt: 5'6"/120. Mutation: Mutant hypersensitivity, as well as an uncontrollable eye mutation.

Sherise - Age: 25.  Eyes: Green. Hair: Long, blond and straight. Ht/Wt: 5'7"/125; slender, like a swimmer's body. Mutations: Webbed hands, gills.

Lorei - Age: 24. Eyes: Light Blue. Hair: Blond straight, shoulder blade length. No mutations. Ht/Wt Shorter than average; average weight for her height.

Alexie - Age: 26.  Eyes: A mutated kinda glowing tawny/gold colour. Hair: Dark brown reaching shoulder blade length. Ht/Wt: Average height but quite strongly built from a lifetime of physical activity. Mutations: The Danger sense – mild form of precognition that warns you of impending attack mutation and the cosmetic Unnatural eyes – color changes dramatically to uncommon color (dead black, change color, glow) mutation.

Konoko -Age: 25.  Eyes: Dark brown. Hair: Black, shoulder blade length. Ht/Wt: Japanese in ancestry, short, lightly built. Mutations: 'Dual Brain/Enhanced nervous system' A mutation of the spinal cord where the nerves are also constructed out of brain tissue enabling the mutant extra memory capabilities and faster mental processing. The result is a smarter than average human. Drawbacks is that it requires a lot of energy so sleep and feeding requirements are higher than a normal human and migranes. Telekinetic mind – can move an unattended object (up to 5 pounds) 15 feet in any direction; must be able to see the object; must concentrate, if concentration is broken object falls. The cosmetic unnatural skin mutation- parts of her skin are slightly mottled in multi-tonal patterns. None visible on the face.

Leonid - Age: Mid-twenties. Eyes: Golden yellow with vertical irises-like a cat. Hair: Very long and thick, tawny mane covering his head and over his shoulders. Ht/Wt: 6'3"/250 lbs; Very large, strong and muscular. He has many features of a lion-claws, teeth, mane, ears, eyes and tail. He has the cunning, speed and silence of the cat and his human intelligence to combat his wild instincts. His hearing is exceptional, as is his sense of smell, and his night vision. Mutations: He looks like someone took a very large man and a lion and squished them together-which is pretty much what happened-except he was only a boy at the time, and had his DNA merged with the DNA of a lion.

Silas - Age: 28. Eyes: Brown. Hair: Dark Blond. Ht/Wt: 6'/168; Well muscled without being overly so. Strong with good physical endurance. No mutations.

Ishmael - Age: 39. Eyes: Hazel. Hair: Salt and pepper gray, shoulder length, usually worn neatly clubbed. Also has a neatly trimmed goatee. Ht/Wt: 6'1"/215; Tall and rangy, with muscles built over a lifetime of physical labor. Mutation: Direction sense: When awake can always perceive true north. He perceives magnetic north and has the training and experience to correct for both declination and local deviation and locate true north. In other words he has a compass in his head. Tattoos Ishmael's arms and legs bear several tattoos, a legacy of his sailing heritage. Two of the most notable are the head and shoulders portrait of his late wife that adorns his left arm from shoulder to elbow and the wedding band tattooed around his left ring finger. He also has flogging scars on his back and walks with a slight limp. Gold loop in left ear.

Myka - Age: 17. Eyes: Green. Hair: Long, straight, redish auburn. Ht/Wt: 5'6; 110ish, Slender, small boned, looks fragile. Mutations: Unnatural skin: Hues of gray, pink, lavender; Scaly skin: Has small, scaly patches on hands, fingers, arms, shoulders, forehead and face, and all over her body; Horns: Bones in her head grew out as pointed horns, two on the side and one from her forehead, pointed slightly backwards (the only positive is that she's learned to use them as weapons); Wall crawler: Has tiny barbs on her hands and feet to facilitate climbing, and her fingers and toes secrete a transparent adhesive that allows her to cling to smooth surfaces. Must be barefoot and have bare hands to climb. Also her ears grew abnormally long and pointed, and her fingernails are more like sharp claws. Has a few scars from various "mishaps" and times of being tortured.

William Two Dogs aka Billy Two - Age: 33; Eyes: Brown; Hair: Long and Black; Ht/Wt: 6' 6", 225lbs, Well muscled; Mutations: Enhanced vision - sharp eyes almost equal to those of an eagle, Darkvision; Scars: two scars on chest.

Known Skills: Computers; escape artist (due to mutation); can be intimidating through her temper (not her looks), but she tries to control it around the settlement; enjoys dancing by her self or with others and learned steps from others and books (there’s not much in the way of music, but she learned to hum tunes); Literate, can read and write English.

She can ride horses competently, operate a motorcycle but not a car, can tumble and other gymnastic moves, competent with guns, and can hold her own in a fight. Mostly her temper gets her going and she can really pound on someone, especially with a long, blunt object.

Birth Place:  Born in the settlement

Relatives: All are dead except her 74 year old father who suffers from minor asthma and some signs of aging. Her brother-in-law is Razor. Her father-in-law is Chad Duncan.

Known History: Sophie’s father and paternal grandfather escaped dying from the apocalypse in the original state of California. The central region suffered comparatively few hits. Much of the radioactive fallout was pulled east by the winds resulting in a lower concentration of radiation in the west.  Sophie’s grandfather, Kenneth Drake, was a hardworking farmer, while her father, Conner Drake, was the first in the family to have just graduated from college as a computer programmer. Kenneth was 44 and his son 24 at the time of the beginning of the end. With their immediate family dead, the two men made the decision to reach what was Colorado where more of their family, hopefully, still lived.

Within the next five years they made their way across the states, picking up others as they went, mostly single people and couples wandering aimlessly. By the time the group reached Colorado, they were grateful to find even the simplest of settlements that made them welcome. By now the entire group numbered about thirty-seven.  One day while exploring the small mountain range nearby, several in the group came across a veritable oasis in the near wasteland in which they were living. Within a short period of time, the entire group had relocated to the green and mostly healthy land, spending the next several years scavenging supplies from Blue Mesa, the nearest city, and wherever else they could find useful materials. The primitive settlement was built near a large flowing stream.  Although they couldn’t explain the near perfect quality of the land they had found, the group nevertheless guarded it carefully and attempted to remain isolated.

At the end of those arduous five years came the discovery that changed the lives of many of the inhabitants forever….

Sophie:

The original inhabitants did seek out other like-minded individuals, couples, and families to join them as time progressed, growing to just over 100 inhabitants in the next 50 years. Kenneth and Conner Drake were encouraged early on to become the settlement’s leaders.

Many of the children came to them as orphans as normal births were few and far between in the beginning.  One birth that did occur was very special to Conner Drake. At the age of 40, he’d met and fallen in love with Annie Tiernay, who was nearly 28, and two years later Sophie came into the world…a harsh world and a innocent new baby. Unfortunately, Annie had been exposed to a great deal of radiation and only lived to see her child’s fifth birthday.

Sophie grew up with a great responsibility in her future...more than just the new leader of the settlement.

Profession: Works in repairing around the settlement, structural and mechanical.  Sophie wants him to be the official “second” leader, but he refuses. He helps her out in any way he can, though.

Known Skills: Skilled in melee weapon fighting/hand to hand fighting; close-range shooting; mechanical and structural repairs; and basic martial arts. Excellent driver, both cars and motorcycles; rides horses. Weapons: Locking, one-handed opening 5”straight razor; Baretta autoloader, automatic firing handgun.

Birth Place:  What used to be the "northern west coast".

Relatives: Sophie is his sister-in-law. Father Chad Duncan.

Known History: Razor and his brother, Kurt arrived at the settlement when they were in their late teens. The two boys had been spotted alone in the city of Blue Mesa by a salvage team from the settlement in a fight with some city dwellers. The two young men were invited to return to the settlement and became an integral part of the small society.  They kept most of their past to themselves and eventually to Sophie and her father.

Razor’s older brother Kurt eventually married Sophie Drake. In the eight years they were married, Razor grew to love Sophie as his sister and was fiercely protective of her…and his brother. Razor was more of a fighter/warrior type than Kurt, although the older brother could inflict some damage on an enemy. Sophie always jokingly told Razor to keep her husband safe when they “went out.” And he did.

One night, four years ago, a situation got out of hand and Kurt was viciously killed. Wracked with unbearable guilt, Razor carried his brother home to the new widow and swore he’d never forgive himself. He knew his sister-in-law didn’t blame him, but Razor never lets himself forget.

Razor just recently went on a mission to the west coast where he grew up and had run away from. He and his team ended up rescuing his father, whom he hadn't seen since he was sixteen. They are working on rebuilding their relationship after many years of hatred on Razor's part and guilt on Chad's.

Body Build/Other Distinguishing Features: tall, slim, gangly, not quite at ease with his new healthy body.

Profession: Currently the vet/animal handler in training.

Known Skills: He can 'talk' to the animals, only domestic animals, has some limited influence over wild animals.

Relatives: Mother and father dead, killed by marauders when Nemo was 4 or 5, no known relatives

Known History: Rescued from the Dragans by Sophie and her team, underweight, malnourished/starved and mute when they found him, is slowly learning to use his voice again, still has problems with some words, particularly Ishmael :D physically he has recovered, the scars are fading....being alone in the dark still frightens him, as do tunnels and raised voices/shouting/arguing.....He doesn't remember life before the Dragons, although he has been experiencing some flash-backs when he sleeps.

Marital Status: unmarried, in a relationship

Clothes: Her every day clothes are jeans or dark pants with a tank top or t-shirt and occasionally a sweater, leather boots.  

Mutation: Hypersensitivity to her surroundings.

Birth Place: Maine, moved to the settlement when she was 5.

Brief History: After the nuclear fall-out, her grandparents were part of a very small group of survivors who refused to relocate from Maine. They lived underground and over the years more people came to live in the underground shelter. Therefore her grandparents and parents grew up in Maine and Carolyne was born there. Due to constant exposure to radiation, the refugees developed mutations that were passed down genetically. Carolyne was born with hypersensitivity. When she was 4 her parents finally decided to move out west. It took them a year to get to the settlement, due to obstacles, harsh conditions and transportation issues. Her parents died not long after reaching the settlement from sickness. She has no other family that she knows of.

Job: She tends to the gardens, but she prefers doing simple repair jobs around the settlement. She also enjoys reading to the younger children at the North Side. Her hypersensitivity is useful.

Other Skills: She knows basic self-defense and how to hunt. She knows how to ride horses and motorcycles.

Strengths: She handles her mutations well, even though she can’t tune anything out. She loves nature and will do whatever she can to help the settlement and her friends, whom she sees as family.

Weaknesses: The journey to the settlement scarred her when she was young so she’s afraid of unknown territory. If she’s with people she trusts she can handle the unfamiliarity better. She doesn’t like change too much, and she always tries to be in control of her life (except for her mutation, which is uncontrollable).

Mutations: None, normal human.
Body Build/Other Distinguishing Features: Tall build, medium build (was "larger" when young), slightly stooped but still strong.

At the time of the nuclear war fifty years ago, Chad's father was a genetics professor at Washington State University, located within the town of Pullman located on the northwest coast of what was then the United States of America. He met and fell in love with Aisha.

Two years later they had one son, Kurt; then two years after that, Charles (currently known as Razor).

Twenty-five years after the war, when the boys were 8 and 6, a second generation mutant warlord of the Mutant Arm of Radillos arrived in Pullman.  He built a loyal group of both human and mutant followers, among them Aisha and Chad Duncan. Much of their family (what was left) did not approve, but some friends and other family joined the organization that promised a better life than the hard existence they were leading. Aisha and Chad saw this as good for their sons.

Scientifically inclined individuals, such as Aisha and Chad, who understood the concepts of genetic engineering (Aisha) and nuclear technology (Chad) became Radillos's closest advisers when Radillos then took over the eastern town of Pullman, the site of Washington State University. Radillos and his guards gave everyone a choice, either join the organization or face possible terrorization at any time. Many did not join and have continued to eke out a living in Pullman, or pretended to support Radillos just to reap the benefits.

Aisha was at first given the job of studying mutants and mutations through their genes to bring to practice what she knew from her books, as well. Chad assisted in powering up the nuclear reactor to provide power to the compound. Aisha was forced to perform genetic experiments on her own sons, and eventually the boys ran away.  The parents were severely punished, then allowed to continue working after re-affirming their support of Radillos.

Just recently Chad was "rescued" from the Radillos compound by his estranged son, Razor, and a team from the settlement. Chad participated in the destruction of the compound, but the destruction and killing took his wife--whom he had not been close to for many years. He returned to the settlement with his son, and is currently getting to know people at his new home and making amends with his son.

Profession: Tailor, sews and repairs clothing.

Known Skills: Sews, knits, crochets. Cards, spins, weaves when she can get hold of some type of animal fleece. She's also a tanner and works with leather.

She can use weapons-knives, handguns, rifles-but doesn't unless she has to. She is also very good at hand to hand combat.

Birth Place: What was once known as Mississippi.

Relatives: Her mother and father was killed by raiders and she was raised by relatives in Texas. As far as she knows she doesn't have any siblings.

Known History: When she became old enough to care for herself she left her home in Texas, knowing that her relatives there only cared for her because of her mother. They were never comfortable with her ability to breathe underwater and swim like a fish with her webbed hands and gills along her back. The only good thing she got from them was her aunt taught her to sew and do crafts and it was something she enjoyed doing. Most of the time they simply ignored her.

She doesn't need to stay in water to survive but likes to be around it to swim in. She usually keeps to herself unless she's filling orders for clothing or something like that because most of the time people would be uncomfortable around her and her mutations.

Most of the time she likes to dress in leather pants, loose t-shirt like tops and leather boots. She doesn't wear jewelry or makeup. She doesn't talk about herself all that much.

She-along with Sophie-were instrumental in bringing down the compound where Isabella and Nemo were being held captive. However, due to the invasion of her mind by the sadistic Bane, she now suffers from nightmares and flashbacks of what he did, and wanted to do, to her.

Profession: Genetic Scientist
Known Skills: Advanced genetic engineering, some medical knowledge, anatomical knowlege of several species. Rest unknown for now but I'll probably add them as I flesh out the character.
Birth Place: Pullman
Relatives: Josh and Kate living in Pullman, she a trader and he is in charge of inventory and supply at Aisha's lab.
Known History: Lorei's grandfather, Mike Anasati was a biomedical science graduate at the university in Pullman at the time of the apocalypse. He was married with a young son named Josh. After the apocalypse struck the small family worked with the other survivors in Pullman to survive. Mike took the time to educate his son with everything he knew including his biomedical knowledge. Josh met Kate in his late twenties and they married to have a daughter, their only child, Lorei at about 36 years old. When Radillos came to town Josh willingly joined the organisation working for them as a lab assistant although his excellent scrounging skills and Kate's trading skills soon got him to the position of inventorying and supplying the labs where Aisha worked. He also took the time to teach Lorei what his father had taught him making her literate, numerate and with a good background in biological science. When the idea surfaced that the scientists should start taking on apprentices to take over when they reached the end of their lifespan Josh put his daughter-now thirteen years of age-forward. After being deemed suitable Lorei was taken in for further education and study of genetic manipulation and engineering. The young Lorei willingly joined the organisation as her father suggested not even knowing what area of research she would be involved in, seeing only the better lifestyle it offered and the ability to put what her father had painstakingly taught her to good use. Everything progressed well until her 17th year when Lorei began to question whether what she was doing was right, indeed it began to feel that it was wrong, designing human hybrid mutants just to fight in the gladiator ring. It was about then she accidentally manipulated a gene pattern so that in a gestating organism, resulting in a gene pattern that would make this particular mutant hybrid have powers far beyond the others. So she killed her own creation, changing the gene pattern again causing it to die before 'birth' in secret. When she presented the 'mistake' to Radillos after the death was discovered, showing it to him as a demonstration of her skill the plan backfired. While she had come to expect punishments for mistakes having witnessed Radillos' paranoid nature and temper, Lorei didn't suspect she would be punished for her actions. Enraged for the death of a promising mutant and the fact she 'went behind his back' by terminating it in secret his gave her to some of his guards for the night as punishment. Memories of that night still haunt her from time to time even now, seven years later. While the incident indeed taught her the seriousness of what she had gotten herself into and made her too frightened to disobey or try any secret projects again, her loyalty to the organisation died that night although she was smart enough not to show it. As she grew older she became convinced her work was wrong however she knew the consequences of saying 'no' or trying to quit and escape. Death was certain. However this hasn't stopped Lorei looking for the opportunity to escape should it present itself, or looking for any potential help in getting out of the life that has been moulded for her. She continues her training and education under Aisha, the head of Radillos' labs and is known as her main assistant and in five or six years time she is due to take over. She has several projects of her own and reports personally to Radillos, which are hugely stressful events for her. When the people from the settlement came to rescue Isabella and Nemo, first by chance then later by choice she assisted them in bringing down the evil warlord. In exchange they granted her freedom and she chose to come with them to the settlement. At firs she was shocked at the primitive conditions they lived in but has since adjusted. Now she studies medicine as an offshoot of her scientific and genetic knowledge to become a doctor, in this way she might be able to atone for her past.

Known History: Alexie's mother, Kelly Elessedil was visiting the US at the time of the Apocalypse with her parents as they had all originally come from the UK. Kelly was about five years old at the time and she survived the apocalypse although her parents did not. She was found by another survivor Talyn Ruath and he took care of her, wandering the surface scavenging whatever they could find until they eventually banded together with Kenneth and Connor Drake's group of survivors. Kelly spent most of her early adult life involved in founding and running the Settlement, so it wasn't until she was around 30 or so that she met another member of the settlement-Martin Leah, eventually marrying him and had a child, Alexie. However Kelly had survived the Apocalypse on the surface and had been exposed to the radation for a long time and this damaged her DNA quite significantly and this-combined with the effects of long term radation exposure is what killed her six years later. Martin, perhaps worn down by tending to her during her decline died a short while later. However the change was also wrought within Alexie-a mutation. Immediately obvious from her burning golden eyes and less obvious from the Danger Sense mutation.

Alexie was raised in the settlement under the care of her parents until she was six years old by her parents until both had died, and was then transferred to the children's house until she was 18. She was given a basic education, literacy, numeracy and the simple sciences. At the age of seven she became apprenticed to one of the settlement's few people skilled in martial arts named Tao Huang. He taught her martial arts including the use of some of the more archaic weapons. Knives, blades and staves and when she became an adult she joined one of the settlement's hunting teams that brought in fresh meat. More recently she joined part of the security teams in the settlement part time for days when she is not out hunting.  She has been on several missions with Sophie and the others, although due to lingering injuries she couldn't come on the mission to rescue Isabella and Nemo much to her disappointment. Now, a month later she is much better and her relationship with Razor is developing...

Known History: Oimikado Takai and his daughter, Asuka Takai were visiting the US on holiday when the apocalypse happened. They saw the plume of a nuclear device having been detonated in the distance and had fled from it to their hotel where Oimikado grabbed some of their belongings including a few textbooks and manuals of his work as a computer programmer and took Asuka to the hotel basement. There were a lot of supplies in the basement and Oimikado stayed underground with his daughter for several days before emerging to the surface to the scene of a nightmare. A destroyed city with few survivors, most already looting and scavenging. After the first week or so had passed it became apparent nobody was coming to rescue them and the small group of settlers banded together to share supplies and resources but to provide some security against more violent looters and scavengers. Asuka was ten when the apocalypse struck and spent most of her young adult life in the crude shelters the survivors had made within the city, learning from her father and eventually inheriting the precious books he'd preserved when he died of radiation sickness. Many of the survivors including herself suffered from radiation sickness, some died from it like Oimikado but she survived. Shortly after her thirty second year she met Luke Okamiya. He too had survived the apocalypse as a child and while Japanese in descent he had been born in the US. Things progressed in a not uncommon fashion and during her thirty fifth year, Konoko was born. Both of her parents had suffered long-term exposure to radiation and this manefested itself in their child. For she was born with mutations in the spinal cord where her brain matter extended down it, and in time she learnt she was telekinetic however she is not aware of her spinal mutation.
Konoko spent her childhood in the city, learning the computer skills and knowledge from Asuka and the books although she could find no practical application for her knowledge for there were no working computers after the war. The rest of her education was given by her parents and the small community. But shortly after she turned twelve her parents finally succumbed to the radiation that permeated the city combined with rough living. She spent some time with the community as it fended off increasing marauder and mutant animal attacks as resources grew more scarce. Shortly after her twelfth year a small group from that community decided to leave the city and start travelling looking for a better, safer home. Konoko has spent her teenage years travelling with the five others who left the city. They died during a marauder attack only a few days before Konoko ended up at Portersville and then the settlement. Since then she has become their computer engineer and researcher, participating in the mission that ended up with the warriordroids and meeting Reno, then the rescue of Isabella and Nemo from Radillos' compound. The mechanical bear that Alexie fought had been brought back to the settlement and Konoko has been repairing it and attempting to reprogram it to serve as a guardian of the settlement. While she has repaired the damage well enough with Reno's help, reprogramming it is more difficult. She is happy with her life in the settlement, with her research and computer work. She has also taken to studying the fusion generator during her spare time.

Birth Place:  Pullman, which is a city on the northwest coast.

Relatives: All are dead. His brother was killed recently in the escape from the compound where the team "found" him.

Known History: Tim was born far from the settlement on the northwest coast where he grew up poor and just barely surviving with his mother and older brother, Wade. When his mother died, Wade secured him a position as a personal bodyguard of the evil warlord that controlled the city and surrounding areas. Tim only meant to stay there a few years until he earned enough money and possessions to take off and see the world. He didn't realize that the warlord, Radillos, would have no intention of letting him go. Tim was learning to defend and protect the warlord, which meant he was on the side of "evil". He knew some of the things he was doing and  most of the things he was seeing were wrong, but Tim had no choice but to stay. His brother would have killed him had he tried to leave, and truthfully Tim had no where to go.

Tim's life was changed forever when he met Carolyne, a new girl working at the compound whom he believed to be a worker. He fell in love and wanted to be with Carolyne and have her travel with him someday.  When it turned out that Carolyne--and her many friends--were there to take down Radillos and the compound, Tim allied himself with the girl he loved and by default helped in the destruction. Tim was reluctantly allowed to accompany the team back to the settlement where he's trying to fit in. His past won't seem to allow some people to accept or trust him, and he's struggling somewhat to make a new home for himself.

He also had been sent by his former boss to kill the old man Chad Duncan, although Tim knew he could never do such a thing. He'd had no idea how he was going to solve that problem, but it worked itself out when Chad refused to be bullied and turned the tables on Tim. Both helped each other to escape.

He has the cunning, speed and silence of the cat and his human intelligence to combat his wild instincts. His hearing is exceptional, as is his sense of smell, and his night vision.

Profession: He was a member of the Riders of the Glow-Radillos' personal gang, who patrolled his compound to keep infiltrators out and slaves/other people in. He also knows his way around the inside of practically any vehicle, so he was also one of their mechanics.

Known skills: A top-notch fighter, he can usually intimidate less strong people with just a glance or growl, but he can also fight well. He can ride a motorcycle or four-wheeler equally well, or drive just about any other vehicle.

Birth Place: He was born to slaves in the compound.

Relatives: Only his mother and father-who were murdered when they objected to his being experimented on.

Known history: His parents were slaves of Radillos when he was born. His father worked in the Arena as a janitor and his mother cleaned the dorms.

When Radillos decided to try his hybrid experiment on a child, he chose Leonid and had his parents thrown in the pit when they objected. He was told if he behaved himself, he wold not be sent to the arena-as most of the other hybrids had ended up when they became uncontrollable. Since he was determined to one day escape the compound, he did his best to keep his emerging lion instincts under control-which almost seemed impossible the more he changed-the pain was almost unbearable, especially when his eyes changed, but when it was complete, he kept himself under control, and even learned to use his new abilities.

After he was cleared by the genetecists, he was put in the Riders, where he would patrol-keeping infiltrators out and slaves in-usually by killing them if other Riders were around, but if he was alone, he would let them go and tell the others he killed them. He didn't like having to kill innocent people, but it was either do as he was told or die-so he killed only when he was forced to.

When it came to the female slaves, he always treated them with respect-unlike everyone else, who abused them. They finally did talk him into at least leaving some kind of mark on them so that others would think he was no different than the others-simply because if he didn't, they would mark themselves.

He knew that Sophie and Sherise weren't who they were pretending to be, and knew also that they were targeting Radillos for something-meaning they weren't alone. He knew that they would be his best chance to rid himself of the compound, so he did what he could to help them-opening the back gate and fighting off the other Riders. Sophie offered him a place to live at their settlement, and he accepted-knowing that he would find it extremely difficult to find another place that would accept him-with the way he looked.

He's now trying to fit in-going off on hunts when he needs to be alone-which served a dual purpose-allowing him his space and providing meat for the settlement.

Profession: Built to repair the Worthington Armed Replicant Androids the were meant to fight the war over fifty years ago. Now works with Konoko and Conner on anything computer related, as well as helps out around the settlement as a sort of guardian/guard.

Birth Place:The twin lab to the settlement’s underground facility, located on the other side of the mountain range.

Known History: Reno was originally built as a repair android for the warriordroids that were to be used by the former United States of America as a defense against the coming war. Something activated their programs about fifty years after they’d been shut down upon the coming of the apocalypse, and they all woke up. Reno helped to save the lives of Sophie and her team, as well as befriended Konoko. With the directives the young woman originally gave him, Reno identified her as his new programmer. He was taken back to the settlement on a trial basis as Sophie was afraid Reno would only obey Konoko and be a danger at some point to the rest of the people.

But Reno adjusted to living with humans and continues to learn on a daily basis. He accepts order from the leaders of the settlement and the team who found him. One of his directives is to protect the settlement, so he watches out for the children and older people and helps where he can. Reno won’t take orders from anyone that doesn’t serve the community.  The android is well liked if still somewhat of a novelty as the inhabitants continue to learn of the amazing things he can do. He allows Konoko and Conner to “study” him as he know they won’t harm him. Reno is also programmed to protect himself.

He does not go on missions nor leaves the settlement in order to preserve his battery power. No one knows how long it will last and there are no replacements. Also, Sophie doesn't want him falling into the hands of the Marauders or other criminals that roam the lands.

Profession: Moonshiner/fuel producer. He is knowledgeable about the various types of engines used in the settlement although he is not a mechanic. He also helps with hunting for food although he prefers to hunt alone. Fairly solitary by nature he is however, friendly without getting attached to people.

Known Skills: He is skilled at making potsheen. This was handed down throughout his family. He can distil liquor from almost anything. He also makes some of the fuel for the settlement. He can drive practically anything and is also a skilful horse rider. He is an excellent shot with a rifle, pistol or crossbow. He is also accurate with a throwing knife. Not a fighter by nature unless very provoked he is competent in unarmed combat.

Birth Place: Born in the settlement

Relatives: His mother, Chrissie, is still alive. Father was killed in an accident when Silas was 10. Silas was a 'late' baby born when his mother was in her late forties. Silas has a much older brother who was badly affected by radiation. Although Charlie looks normal he can’t hear, speak or see. He is able to look after himself in a limited way while his mother is teaching.

Known History: His parents were from Chicago. His father was a cop and his mother a schoolteacher. A job that she continued when she arrived at the settlement. Silas doesn’t know much about their history. His mother prefers not to talk about the hardships they endured before they found the settlement.

Background: When the bombs fell many of the world's tall ships had been in or near the port of Kingston, Jamaica for a celebration no one can now recall. This proved to be a fortuitous coincidence since the scarcity of fuel in the post-apocalyptic world means any sort of trans-oceanic trade and communications is now prohibitively expensive, if not outright impossible, for a motorized vessel. The captains of these vessels organized themselves into The Right Honourable League of Merchants and Mariners, commonly called the Jamaican League, and now hold an effective monopoly on world commerce, especially the lucrative spice trade.

Ishmael was born as his mother's ship rounded the Cape of Good Hope in the teeth of a howling gale. He grew up on the island of Jamaica and went to sea at a young age, working his way up from waister (2) to topman. (3) It was at this point that he met Yemanja, (4) another topman, during a multi-ship raid on a nest of pirates that had been preying on League ships. The two married shortly afterwards and both sailors began their training as deck officers on various ships, eventually earning their Master's tickets. (5)

They were able to get financial backing to purchase a small sloop-rigged cutter and planned to start both their own merchant business and a family. However the cutter needed major repairs, and they decided that Ishmael would stay in Valaparaiso to monitor the repairs while Yemanja shipped out as first mate on the barkentine City of Norlins to earn some money, returning in about six months. Approximately four months later, the City of Norlins was lost with all hands in a South Atlantic gale.

Ishmael made several trading voyages, ending up in Galveston Bay, where he abruptly paid off the crew. He sold the cutter and most of its cargo, sending the proceeds to the people who had originally backed his and Yemanja's purchase of the vessel.

He then joined one of the regular trading caravans that operate between the coastal settlements and the inland settlements as an independent merchant.

Known History: Dr. Lorne, Rose's father, was an enthusiastic if absent-minded anthropology researcher who could only generously be called "middle-aged" at the time he met Dr. Rubicon. At a conference in Zagreb, Croatia, they were presenting papers on opposing theories in the history of humankind, when they decided to meet for dinner to continue their arguement. About a year later, the couple had a newborn son to enjoy, though they never married. They moved back to the US to raise their family, settling on the east coast. The attack happened shortly thereafter.

Rose was born many years later, when her brother was nearly half-grown and her mother was middle-aged. The combination of her mother's age and the medical care available in the post-attack east coast resulted in Dr. Rubicon dying on the birthing table.

Doctor Lorne spent the next 15 years mourning his lost partner, and teaching his children how to survive their harsh new environment. Knowing that the technology of his day would rapidly become lost or useless, he chose to teach them the ancient knowledge and techniques that would be useful in any environment. He died shortly before Rose's 16th birthday.

Given the ability to operate in total darkness and to have great stamina when traveling, Rose joined a courier service shortly thereafter. For a substantial fee, she would carry messages and goods (legal or not) between cities. Though she could not carry as much as a mounted courier, she could avoid detection far better.

When she was 25, she was carrying a message from the remains of Kansas City southwest to New Mexico when she was captured by slavers looking for new mining crews. Betrayed by her mutations, she soon found herself a highly-valued slave in the salt mines near Hutchinson, Kansas.

After many years of dispair, Rose fashioned a stone dagger from waste rock in the mine. Using this, she killed two guards and was able to escape. She decided to make her way west, to the mountains. After many months, she stumbled upon the settlement. Not possessing any one specific useful skill, she has pitched in wherever she can, mostly with trapping game animals. She has only been with the settlement since early winter.

Mounts/Vehicle: 'Horse' breed: Percheron-mix, a massive horse standing 7 feet in height (and Percherons have gotten to this height before.) 'Horse' is a mutant, adapted to survive temperature extremes, in winter he grows a shaggy coat, and sheds it towards the summer. making grooming in shedding phase a real chore. Horse is heavily muscled, and a kick from it can pretty much kill a wolf in one shot with a direct hit, not the fastest of breeds, but a hardy one and well-used and trained by Billy. Horse is accustomed to violence and is not gun-shy.
