Path of Dawn Episode IV

It had occurred to her that, just because they were safe here didn't mean the others were safe where they were...wherever that was. "I think we should follow the path we originally took, then head in to the city if we don't find...well, if we don't see them," Erica corrected herself. "That was our original destination, so I doubt they would make a detour anywhere else. Well, unless they were forced to, but we can't search everywhere."

"We'd better not meet anymore of those gigantic reptile creatures," Erica proclaimed. "That would be just so not right."

A small part of her mind decided better the perseid than herself, though...and imagined Cain would be approving of that thought. As she briefly pondered her fate versus Tilgin's, Erica hopped-ran with April into the trees to escape the creature coming after them. She dove to one side of a tree and screamed again. She'd managed to dive right into empty space where the ground dropped off and sloped downhill. Erica tucked herself into a ball as she began to roll, bouncing off the ground and rebounding off trees while sliding down the dirt. She slid too far to be able to walk up and crash landed into a small valley.
After a few moments she mentally checked herself over for further injuries and found only bruises and cuts, but nothing too serious. Even her leg had managed to stay healed. Her new clothes had several rips in them.
"APRIL?" Erica shouted upwards, cupping her hands to make her voice carry.
But there was no answer. She had fallen quite far and off to one side. No one would ever be able to find her down here, and it seemed quite a walk to make her way around and back up to where she'd been. Sighing, Erica pulled herself up, retrieved her pack, and found her gun. She pulled several leaves and small twigs out of her blond hair. Then she started off on a small trail that hopefully led back up.
"Great," she mumbled. "Now on top of everything else, I'm freaking lost in the forest."

"Divine," she managed to think, "I'm really going to die."

Then she studied the forest, the direction the moss was growing, and the sun in the sky intently. Of course, Erica had no idea what she was looking for, but it made her feel better to study something.
"Now, considering I have no idea which direction to go, I think I'll choose..........this way!" she said out loud to herself, pausing during the decision making.
And off she want hoping to find April or the city where all the others were. It was also possible Erica would just walk forever in a direction that led nowhere, but that was a risk she had to take.

She stared at the two little creatures that had hopped out from behind some bushes and into her path on the trail. She held her breath for a moment wondering if they were going to attack, but the little green creatures just looked at her curiously. Each one tilted its head to the opposite side and stared at her.
"What?" she asked warily. "What do you want? Huh? You probably got some big mom or dad hanging round ready to eat me, don't you?" Erica said suspiciously, glancing over her shoulder and up into the tree tops around her.

Time Stamp: Eleven Days Later.
IC: After an investigation that had lasted several days, Sally and the others were able to prove that they didn't assassinate Admiral Linden and even implicate Aden, one of the Nietzscheans although as soon as they did that the Dragans shut down the investigation and kicked them off the planet declaring that their goals were incompatible with the goals of of the Commonwealth. They then had to leave the system before the Dragans brought in a battle fleet to destroy the Path of Dawn. With negotiations failed Sally then turned her attention to finding Teyna and the away team when they didn't meet up at the rendezvous point on time. It took days to finally track them to the uninhabited planet and locate their missing crewmembers.
Meanwhile the away team had survived long enough to find the odd part for the 'Hawk and construct a crude communication's beacon, the weak signal emitted being enough to catch the Path of Dawn's attention when they stopped in the solar system while searching for them. The dragan device in orbit was disabled. Sally, Kaytee, Tommy and Cain went down in slipfighters to retrieve the away team and repair the Ebon Hawk. After a few close encounters with more of the planet's predatory inhabitants the 'Hawk was repaired and everyone returned safely to the Path of Dawn. Daze checked over the injured and treated them with April then everyone was released to resume ther normal duties while Sally worked out what they would do next...
