Athea watched the puddle vibrate and distort every few seconds, then presently even the organics could feel the vibrations getting stronger and stronger. Then they could hear it too, thumps in accompanyment to the vibrations. The avatar drew her forcelance and waited. Tilgin shook his head. "Could it be a planetary warefare bot?" He asked loudly. "Quiet." Athea responded as she continued to look around. Then the vibrations and the sounds stopped entirely. She spun around just in time to see the massive reptilian creature standing at the edge of the trees regarding them. Then it attacked, roaring with a roar that echoed through the jungle and lunged at them. It snatched up a Persied with one dip of it's head and chewed. Blood spattered and bones crunched as the T-Rex ate it's first bite of prey. "Oh crap!" Athea whispered as she brought up her forcelance to aim at the massive reptile...

OOC: Yup, it's a dinosaur. Have fun! And yes I have thought this through. I know just how it got here!

Teyna stared at the creature. She had heard stories about Earth when she was younger, so she had heard of dinosaurs, but she had never studied up on them. She didn't know if it was a dinosaur creature. It was huge, and she doubted their weapons would have much effect. "Uh... I think we should run," she said.

"It should be alright though, you can stay aboard the ship with Arion, Denis and Jaren and avoid visitors if we have any."

Cain was silent for a moment

"That may be the wisest option Captain.....I would endanger your mission....but if you have need of me, you have only to call and I will come"

April stared at the creature, her medkit dropping to the ground as she stood frozen in shock.

"Uh... I think we should run,"

She knew she agreed, but her limbs wouldn't do what they were told.

Erica's mouth dropped open at the sight of the massive, reptilian creature that was presently eating one of the Perseids. She started to draw her gauss gun but agreed with Tenya about the running part. Even the avatars wouldn't be able to protect them and stop the...creature.

"Yes, let's do that!" she said, grabbing April's arm as their doctor seemed a bit frozen in place. She grabbed the medkit from the ground and shoved it at the doctor. "Surely it can't follow us through the jungle...maybe we can lose it!"

Without waiting for further "encouragement" from the massive creature that rose far above their heads, Erica also shoved a Perseid to get moving and began to run. "Lead the way, Athea. I, for one, really want to reach that city!"

By the time they'd finished talking the T-Rex had finished his first snack and was lunging at them again. It missed one of the Persieds this time but it was enough to spur the group into action and they started running. Athea lead the way in the direction of the city, keeping at an organic pace so as not to outdistance the others. They splashed mud over their clothing and overhanging branches and twigs swiped at them as they ran. The huge reptile followed them, running up behind them and roared again. Slowly but surely the T-Rex was closing on Erica who was helping a frightened April...

Dawn finished the drone probes of the next solar system but detected no signs of ambush. The Dragan ship was in orbit around the fourth planet in the system. It was inhabitable but it's only native inhabitants were primitive tribal beings confined to one continent and thus a temporary facility had been hastily built on one of the uninhabited continents as a neutral place to meet and discuss options since the nietzscheans woudn't board the Path of Dawn and Sally wouldn't have herself or her crew board the Dragan vessel. Satisfied that it wasn't an ambush Sally slipstreamed the warship into the system and took a careful orbit around the planet, keeping the enignes hot in case something untoward happened.

"We're recieving a hail." Dawn announced. "Put it through-close on me I don't want them seeing Cain." Sally added hastily. An image of a male Nietzschean dressed in leathers appeared onscren. "Captain Elessedil, I didn't think you would come. I am Jase Krell." He introduced himself but Sally could hear the scorn in his voice as he addressed her. "We have prepared a place for us to meet if you'd be so kind to meet us down there." She nodded. "Of course. See you down there." She responded and the communication ended. "Dawn, have Kaytee, Tommy and Daze meet me in the drop-pod bay." The AI acknowledged and appeared before each crewmember with her instructions. Sally meanwhile got herself ready and headed down there.

Erica made the mistake of turning around as she ran through the jungle. Her clothes were getting muddy and several branches had given her small cuts on her face and ripped through the sleeves of her shirt. She'd felt something hot behind her and was nearly deafened by a roar, and so had turned to see...and wished she hadn't. She yelled and tried to run faster as the reptilian creature was right behind her.

"Run, April! Run!" she shouted. Erica really didn't want to be eaten by this thing. Her heart was pounding and her breath coming heavily, despite her enhanced physical strength.

Cain would be very disappointed if she, a Nietzschean, died as nothing more than a meal. There would be no honor in that.

Kaytee acknowledged Dawn with a slight nod as she was told to meet Sally in the drop-pod bay.

"Great, I was hoping I wouldn't have to go down there!" She mumbled when Dawn disappeared. If it was one thing she hated being around-it was Nietzscheans-especially Dragans, cosidering the time she spent on Earth.

She grabbed her portable toolkit and went to the drop-pod bay still mumbling under her breath.

When Derlick turned and saw the massive creature bearing down on them, he screamed in fear and ran after Athea, knowing-hoping-she would be able to lead them to safety-if that thing didn't catch them one by one in the process. He turned once and saw the thing bearing down on April and Erica, but there was nothing he could do to help-he didn't even have a weapon on him-so he redoubled his efforts to run faster.

The T-Rex lunged again for April but missed the human, instead great mouth latched onto Erica's legs, causing her to lose her balance and her grip on April. The T-Rex's teeth sunk a fair way into the Nietzschean's legs through skin and muscle almost down to the bone before stopping. Only seconds remained until the great dinosaur would start to tug at it's prey and start dragging her back opening the deep wounds to her legs further. Athea however heard the roar and glanced over her shoulder to see what was happening. Instantly she stopped running and reversed her direction, jumping over the heads of the others to land next to the T-Rex's head. Gathering her android strength she punched the T-Rex in the side of the head. She didn't think she could break the solid bone there but she could perhaps crack it or certainly make the beast hurt enough to let go of Erica. Or at least she hoped.

Derlick stopped when Athea jumped over his head, and he looked behind him to see her punch the beast-who had Erica's legs in its mouth. He turned when April went sprawling and ran to her, grabbed her arm and helped her up-she was their medic, and if she was hurt, they would all be in trouble. "Come on!" He urged, running and dragging her with him.

April desperately stared at Erica as she was pulled away, but continued running. There wasn't much she could do anyway, and Athea was there. She just hoped there'd be something left of Erica to patch up later.

Erica screamed with pain as the creature bit down on her legs as teeth sharp as daggers pierced her skin and muscles. She fell down and felt herself being dragged until Athea appeared and began to hit the creature in the head. The others continued to run to safety. Erica felt herself being shaken and start to black out from the pain. She tried to remain conscious in order to help Athea if she could...or at least not to be a burden. Erica grabbed onto a root of a tree but her grip was weak.

"Hit it again!" she screamed to Athea. "Get it off me, please!"

"Hang in there Erica!" Athea called out encouragement as the T-Rex started dragging it's prize through the mud, sawing the wounds in Erica's legs open wider. The avatar felt rage explode inside her and she set her jaw. "Let my pilot go this instant you MONSTER!" She shouted angrily and this time she punched the creature with all her strength in one of it's eyes, smashing the tiny orb. The T-Rex roared in pain and shock, releasing Erica. As soon as the jaws loosened Athea bent down, picked her up and bolted through the trees after the others. She'd only gotten a few metres before the now-familiar roar sounded again combined with the sounds of it's footsteps and smashing trees.

The immense relief Erica felt at the release of her leg was taken over by the excruciating pain that shot through her body as her attention was taken off being eaten. She felt herself in Athea's arms and bounced along as the avatar ran. Vaguely the Nietzschean pilot could hear the beast coming after them, but slowly sounds were fading as Erica drifted closer to unconsciousness. She closed her eyes and her body felt like it was disappearing.

"Not...go...going...to make...it," she barely mumbled. "Hurts..."

OOC: JP between myself and Szh

IC: Teyna paused as Erica was almost eaten by the creature. She wanted to help, but Athea was already on top of it. She was able to injure the creature and get Erica out of there. They kept running.

Athea kept pace, a few metres behind the others. Through the jungled they chased until they started reaching a few outbuildngs of the city.

"The city's just up ahead!" Teyna exclaimed. "We can try to hide from that... thing."

Athea continued her pace with unrelenting strength and focus. "Try to locate a strong building with doors too small for it to fit."

Around them now the mud was giving way to metal streets and walkways as they started into the city. Behind them the T-rex roared again and metal screeched with it's claws as it ran.

Teyna grimaced at the sound the creature was making as it ran on the streets. She quickly looked around, and spotted a building that fit Athea's description. "There!" she pointed.

Athea followed the direction of Teyna's arm. "Good enough." She agreed, looking at the low, squat building.

Looking back on the others, Teyna called out, "head for that building!"

Behind them one of the Persieds moved too slow and the T-rex had another meal with a scream and crunch of bones.

Athea continued on until they reached the building, to the thick metal doors that were locked shut...

Teyna gasped. They were almost at the building... she hated to think it, but perhaps the creature's latest meal would distract it long enough for them to reach safety.

Athea gently, carefully lowered Erica too the ground and wrenched at the lock that kept the doors to their 'sanctuary' shut, snapping it.

But the T-Rex advanced on Teyna with mindlessly stupid hunger in it's eyes....

"Uh oh," Teyna said under her breath. The creature was coming towards her. She needed to distract it from the others so they could get inside... she started running in a different direction, away from the building.

"Crap, I should have thought this through more!" she yelled. She dodged through the buildings, trying to find one that she could hide in.

Athea pushed the doors open and picked up Erica before carrying her inside then laying her down on the dusty floor. "April, stay with the Persieds and help her."

The T-Rex kept pace, following her between buildings and along streets, ripping at whatever got in it's way as it got closer... and closer.... until it was practically on top of her....

Teyna looked around. She was running out of time. She spotted something that looked like it used to be a transport vehicle. Heading towards it, she managed to dive in just in time.

The T-Rex followed her, then started clawing and biting at the vehicle, growing more and more frustrated as it inched in deeper. It wanted this prey.

Athea came up behind it and whistled sharply to catch its attention.

The T-rex turned and tilted it's head slightly to compensate for it's damaged eye and recognised her. Angrily it turned and started chasing after the avatar. "Lucky it's a big, dumb brute." She said as she turned and started running.

Teyna sighed in relief as the creature turned away. She looked out and saw Athea leading it away. She knew Athea could take care of herself, so she got out of the vehicle and ran back towards the building.

Sally met up with the rest of her crew and they got into Lancer Drop Pods that Dawn had prepared for them. One by one they dropped to the surface of the planet, with it's oddly brownish rivers and red leaved forests. Once her drop pod had landed she waited for a few seconds for the dust to settle then stepped out onto the surface of an entirely new planet. Idly she half-turned to wait for the others to get out of their own drop pods.

Unfortunately, there was one other factor that neither Athea nor Teyna had considered while leading an enraged T-Rex around the block of buildings while the others got Erica and the Persieds to safety. As Teyna ran from her upturned and mangled vehicle another T-Rex burst out from behind one of the buildings and lunged for her. This one, the original T-Rex's mate missed her by inches but her head connect with Teyna's with enough impact to knock the human off her feet to the ground. It lifted it's head and it's jaws opened wide as it prepared to eat it's latest meal....

John had his hands full trying to keep the Perseids more or less together and running in the same direction, rather than scattering in fear and becoming prey to whatever else was out there. He saw Erica get caught by the tyrannosaur's powerful jaws, only to be rescued from certain doom by Athea's quick actions.

"There! Head for that building!"

John growled at a Perseid who seemed ready to run down the wrong street, away from the building Teyna had indicated. The Perseid shied away from him, eyes wide with incipient panic, but headed for the right building with the others. He turned, "Run!" he bellowed in Perseid at the trailing member of their party. "Run, damn your- aw, crap," he finished in Commonwealth Standard as the tyrannosaur proved quicker than the Perseid.

It wasn't until Athea had broken open the door and left Erica to April's care that he realized Teyna had broken away and drawn the tyrannosaur after her.

John drew his forcelance, disabling the safety interlocks and setting it to overload as he ran. "This way!" he sent to Athea as the creature turned away from Teyna and began chasing her. The other avatar ran towards him, the tyrannosaur in pursuit. John switched his pistol to automatic fire and fired a burst at the creature's good eye. The tyrannosaur's jaw opened in a roar of pain and anger as at least one of the bullets struck its remaining eye; John threw the forcelance, the rapidly overloading weapon spinning end over end as it headed for the creature's gaping maw.
