Daze stepped out of his own drop pod and found Sally already waiting in the large open plains that they'd landed in. The temporary facility was some distance further down the plains. Under his feet the grass was a brownish red colour and the sky was a murky blue-grey. Tommy also emerged from his drop pod to join the halfling and the purple pixie standing nearby waiting. Now all they waited for was Kaytee to emerge from her drop pod.

Kaytee emerged from her drop pod and joined the others. This planet was pretty unremarkable-except for the plants being strange colors than what she was used to. She looked around and hoped they wouldn't be here too long-Dragans made her uneasy-even if they seemed willing to talk, but she wouldn't trust one any farther than she could pick it up and toss it.

Sally rechecked her weapons then looked at the two crewmembers with her. "All right let's go." She walked steadily towards the complex, noting that two small Dragan ships had already landed. The facility in front of them was mostly constructed out of metal and had two floors. A lack of paths and stone flooring around it gave evidence to it's fairly hasty and recent construction. At it's base were two wide doors and standing at the entrance was Jade and four other big male nietzscheans. "Welcome to Meenus, Captain Elessedil." He greeted without offering the traditional Nietzschean greeting. "If you'll come with us we can begin." Sally shrugged and together the small group joined the Nietzscheans as they went inside the building.

Kaytee studied the structure as they walked up to it-it definitely looked hastily put-together, and she hoped it wouldn't blow away in a good breeze. When five big male Dragans walked out of it she frowned-she only hoped they didn't get too close, or she could get even more irritated than she was at having to be here at all-and be tempted to do something about it.

Sally followed Jase and the other Nietzschean soldiers into the building and through several narrow corridors towards the centre of the building. She noticed despite it's hasty construction that it was solid and unyielding. She didn't bother saying anything until they finally came upon a large room with a round table with several cushioned and padded seats around it. On the table were flexis and glasses of water. In the room were several more Nietzscheans seated at the table-including one that was in his fifties but his body was still strong and muscled, he bore the double helix on his arm and was dressed in the black leather Dragan military uniform. It was highly decorated indicating he was high-ranking.

But most of all he bore a strong resemblance to Sally, even down to her red hair. The only real difference was that his eyes were blue and not brown like hers. The red-haired Nietzschean looked directly at her and shook his head. "So, this is my half-human daughter, accompanied by two kludges and a purple monkey. How disappointing." Sally blinked in surprise and her hand went to her forcelance. This nietzschean was her father, the Admiral Richard Linden. The other ones around the table, three more males and a female snickered contemptuously at her. Jase gestured to the table. "Do take a seat and we can begin." He said neutrally.

Kaytee said nothing when the big Nietzschean called her a kludge-she hadn't let that particular slur bother her for a long time anyway-she just sat down in one of the chairs and picked up a flexi-only feeling that this was a lot more than just a meeting.

Admiral Linden waited until the three crewmembers from the High Guard Warship currently in orbit had seated themselves before continuing. He gestured to the two male Nietzscheans, younger than him but clearly military men, again not as high ranking as him. "This is Aden Kett, and Martyn Xenetic." Both men he knew aspired to take his position as third-ranking of the Drago-Kazov but neither had the guile or power to persuade the Alpha that he should retire early. He then gestured to the female Nietzschean who appeared no older than Sally lounging idly on one of the chairs. "And this is Lynea Draykos, daughter of our Matriarch and most likely future matriarch." He introduced them all in turn, maintaining the pretense of politeness and civility to his hated half-human daughter. An abomination that had survived against all odds to become the captain of the Path of Dawn and a representitive of the Commonwealth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sally sat in the chair but ignored the glass of water sitting in front of her. Instead she studied each Nietzschean that was introduced, one at a time. Their expressions, body posture, how well they were armed. She didn't know what to make of the situation. The pride hadn't sent their Alpha or Matriarch to oversee these apparent negotiations to join the commonwealth which implied that they weren't taking this meeting seriously. On the other hand they'd sent the daughter of the matriarch, the third in command of the Pride and several other high ranking Nietzscheans which suggested they were taking this meeting seriously. "This is Kaytee, the Path of Dawn's chief engineer and Tommy, one of our security officers." She introduced. "And Daze Gemini, one of our doctors." Sally leaned forward in her seat and gave her father a hard look. "So, you wanted to talk to us about joining the Commonwealth now that a worldship and several trillion magog are on their way?" She let the question hang in the air.
Kaytee only inclined her head briefly when she was introduced but no more-the only way she could be polite in this company was to keep her mouth shut and let Sally do all the talking. She did see the resemblance between her and the other one, and could only admire Sally-if she even had half his strength, it was no wonder she could survive as long as she had.
Admiral Linden nodded sagely. "Yes, we did. We're curious to know what possible benefits the Empire could possibly gain from joining this restored Commonwealth and allying ourselves with not one but many inferior species." Sally shrugged slightly. "Survival for you and your empire." She answered simply. "To prevent your wives and children from being either eaten by magog or infested with their eggs. Not to mention the economical benefits once the world ship has been destroyed." She explained patiently but Linden didn't seem convinced. "Ahh yes the fabled magog warship. Are we really to belive there is such a ship out there like that? That any horde of crude creatures like that could threaten the might of the Drago-Kazov?" He asked with heavy contempt.
"Not that you would believe a Kludge." Kaytee said. "But yes, the world ship exists-we saw it." She didn't particularly care whether he believed her or not-she was just stating the truth. She sat back and studied the flexi in front of her and basically continued to ignore the things as best she could.
Aden sneered at Kaytee. "Indeed why should we listen to an unmodified kludge like you?" He asked contemptuously. "Even that high guard fossil is a heavyworlder. Are you a mudfoot? From earth? At least you're not an abomination that should never have existed like your captain. At least you could serve as a slave." Sally rapped her bonespurs against the table abruptly. "Enough of that. The worldship does exist and I've brought flexis with scans taken from our ship." She slid them across the table to Linden, Aden, Martyn and Lynea. "Examine them at your leisure." She growled, barely keeping her own anger and hatred under control.
Kaytee simply ignored the Nietzschean she'd heard introduced as Aden-simply because she'd heard the same insults time and time again-enough that it actually amused her when she heard them. She finally looked over at him after Sally gave out the flexis.
"When you come up with some new ones, let me know." She said, looking back at her flexi.
The meeting went on for a bit longer as Sally and Admiral Linden argued and haggled back and fourth about the worldship and the economic advantages of joining a unified restored Commonwealth with occasionally comments from Lynea and Martyn but no real progress was made. But Jase could percieve the growing tension between Aden and Kaytee in addition to the almost open hatred between father and daughter. Daze and Tommy said very little during the whole meeting. "Why don't we take a break for now? Let our technicians look over those flexis and allow temper to cool." Jase suggested calmly. There was a strained silence then finally Linden nodded. "All right then, if you'll follow Jase and his guards they'll show you to the guest rooms on the second floor. We can reconvene in two hours." Sally nodded and rose gracefully. Jade lead the crewmembers out of the room and up a flight of stairs to a narrow corridor on the second floor. He pointed to a row of doors on the left hand side. "These are your rooms. If you require food or drink, simply press the buzzer near the door and some of our slaves will attend to your needs." He said simply.
April wasn't sure whether they were safe yet or not, but she couldn't think of that right now. She rushed to Erica's side, scrambling her medkit open on the floor.
"Erica? Can you hear me?"
Kaytee simply went into her room and sat down-she wouldn't eat anything they might want to provide until she was forced to. That Aden got irritated with her only served to amuse her-she didn't think it would be that much fun to antagonize someone by simply not rising to bait being thrown out. She leaned back and put her feet up on the bed as she studied some flexis she'd brought with her and pushed that lunkhead Nietzschean out of her mind.
Sally walked inside the room that she had been shown to and sat down on one of the chairs there and stretched out wearily. The meeting had been unexpectedly difficult with her finally meeting the father that she'd heard about in addition to trying to negotiate with a bunch of Nietzscheans whom she expected would never willingly join the restored commonwealth. They had too much to lose by having to free their slave worlds. But perhaps they could be convined to ally with the commonwealth. Her thoughts drifted back towards Admiral Linden. She hated him, what he'd done to her mother, the kind of life he lead. Yet he was also responsible for her very existance. Sally stretched out a little more as she thought.
Erica blinked her eyes open and April swam into focus.
"Yeah," she answered weakly, her arm thrown over her eyes. "But I don't feel so good, April. I...I think I might pass out," she whispered. Then, "If I do...don't tell Cain, he'll think I'm weak and inferior." Erica tried to smile at her joke but only managed to grimace. "Got...got anything for the pain?"
She couldn't imagine what her legs looked liked but they were certainly on fire with pain.
Athea continued running after John threw his overloading forcelance in to his gaping maw. Up ahead she saw another T-Rex emerge from behind another building and narrowly miss making Teyna it's next meal. Without pausing in her stride she drew her forcelance and started shooting the new T-Rex even as the other one died behind her. The shots didn't harm it but it was enough to distract the huge reptile and make it look up at her. She copied John's earlier move and overloaded her forcelance and tossed it into the T-Rex's open mouth. "Come on Teyna, get up and into the building!" Athea shouted as she approached the building.
Meanwhile in orbit around the unnamed planet the Ebon Hawk had crashed on, a Dragan battle-cruiser arrived. They scanned the planet thouroughly and discovered that the cargo vessel they had been pursuing had crashed on the planet and the crew were alive-for now. But they also detected a continent of large reptilian creatures both carnivore and herbivore. This gave Captain Sorchak Urgra an idea. He sent a smaller shuttle down to the planet to the crash-site and they broke into the Ebon Hawk and stole the Persied cargo while the cargo ship's crew were fighting for survival in the city. With the cargo secured the team of soldiers quickly re-boarded their shuttle and blasted back into orbit before the noise of their arrival attracted any predators. Before leaving however Sorchak decided on a way to practically guarantee the death of the cargo ship crew stranded on the planet without getting his hands dirty.
In a geosynchronus orbit above the dinosaur-infested continent the Drago-Kazov left a device that would transmit a dampening field over the portion of continent where the crew were stranded. It would mean that no weapons would work within a hundred mile radius of the place where the Ebon Hawk had crashed and any beacon would have to be powerful enough to overcome it to be able to transmit...
Teyna was taken off guard when another creature appeared. Before she could dodge it it rammed into her, knocking her back a few feet. She fell to the ground in a daze. Before it could eat her, Athea began shooting at it. Teyna scrambled to her feet and ran towards the building, finally making it. She dashed inside and fell to the floor, trying to regain her breath.
