Pretend for a minute that we are in an alternate universe.  It is November 5th, and the presidential election ended in a tie, with each of the 3rd party candidates also putting in strong showings.  Congress in this universe has authority to cede its vote to an outside body, and after several rounds of voting, and not coming up with a presidential pick, has turned to Ex Isle to cast the deciding vote.   The fate of the nation hangs in the balance - all eyes are watching us, and when we vote, the matter will be decided.

The whole world is watching this unprecedented event in history! For the first time in the history of the nation - the fate of the entire country will be decided by the handful of people who particpate in the Orbis Terrarum poll set up for this purpose.  And because Congress has ruled that all candidates must appear on the ballot, even third party candidates have a chance!

Bill O'Reilly and Keith Olbermann trade pointed barbs while loudly urging us to choose wisely.  Chris Matthews drools his amazement, and George Will is simply outraged.  He can't believe that the fate of our great nation might be left to people who are just as likely to vote for Jon Stewart or Snoopy as they are for any of the major candidates.  Notwithstanding, this moment is ours.

What will we decide?

Vote now!

Hillary Clinton for which: the approval vote, the standard vote or both? (It's important to the final tally)

For the first part of the poll I choose "Write In" and my answer is quite simply "None of the Above"

As for part 2, I choose Obama and Part 3, standard vote.

I assume this being an alternative universe and the vote being decided by Exislers even non-American Exislers can vote. Can I also write in a Canadian name ;) (probably won't). So we can write in anyone, an Exisler, a fictional character, etc? *laughs thinking of all the odd choices brought up in Exisle in this election campaign*

Next time you do a poll, can you add "none of the above"?

A most excellent poll and way of putting it across, QT!  ;)

I chose write in on #2 and #1 (as well as others on #1.)  Methodology: 2nd.

My candidate:  I am sorely tempted to write in myself.  ;)  I think I'd do a good job with a Brethren Court.  :D  But in actuality I'd write in Ron Paul.  (And a close second would be writing in Jesse Ventura, but no...)

sierraleone, you are free to vote here, and to vote for anyone you please.  That's why there's a write-in ballot!

Enka, there's a write-in ballot for whomever you'd choose instead of the listed candidates.  You could write in "none ofthe above" but for the sake of this poll that's essentially not voting, since write-in candidates will be counted!

Sorry, Darth.  There is a naturalization process before you actually become an "Islander" with voting privileges. At present, you've just washed ashore.  Can you imagine the trouble we'd have if everyone could just join Ex Isle and vote?  Candidates could organize hordes of their followers to try to influence the outcome!

I would've written in Jed Bartlet, but there are term limits, so I voted for Obama in both.

I considered writing in Superman, but I believe that, like Al Gore, he can do more good in his current role than within the restrictions of the executive branch.  Also it's questionable whether he qualifies as a native-born American.  In the post-Byrne comics continuity (and in the comics annual that explored in imaginary-story form what a Superman presidency would be like), he wasn't technically born until his incubator capsule arrived in Kansas, but other portrayals disagree.

As tempting as it is to put Jon Stewart... *strong pull of temptation* ...eeehhh no no, he does a great job where he is. I like him too much to want to inflict that stress and pressure on him. He likes his current job.

Gotta be Hillary.
