Today I learned (not for the first time -- I'm a bit slow) not to accommodate the neighborhood kids when they come over asking to borrow "a pinch of electricity." It not that it hurts so much getting it out of the outlet. After decades of doing electronics, I'm used to that. It's more that the little wusses can't handle it when you give it to them. Some of them always end up on the ground twitching, while the others run off to complain to their whiny, whiny parents. And then there's the police interview that treats you like some sort of drug dealer or homicidal maniac -- like the spoiled little urchins don't have the stuff piped into every room of their house anyway.
Being neighborly just isn't worth it.
