As it turned out, the Psiro was waiting for Graayth's inevitable attack and stabbed him in the side with a silver knife. Graayth howled in pain when it embedded itself deep in his side and dropped to the ground. The agonising pain burning from his side was incredible, almost erasing all thought with its intensity. With shuddering hands Graayth ignored the pain it caused to grasp the handle and ripped it out, tossing it aside.

He barely had any time to see the Psiro coming at him with another silver blade and somehow managed to kick him powerfully in the stomach, sending him flying back into a wall. Panting with the effort, Graayth sat up just in time to see the Psiro hobble off into the night, doubled over from the kick which was sure to have broken a rib or two. The werewolf lay back down again, having no choice but to wait until his body recovered enough from the silver reactions to heal the wound to his side. Already the bleeding was just beginning to stop but it would take days for the wounds to heal fully.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, Khazar had been woken by Jair and the pair were travelling to the houses of the rest of the secondary team. Soon they would be organised enough to sweep Delmi and find out if the rest of Jo's team were still alive.
After lying still for what seemed like a long time, Vincent slowly turned until he was on his belly, hissing in pain as he did so. Feeling as weak as a newborn baby, he attempted to try to crawl around the side of the building where he knew it would be shaded with the rising of the sun, as he knew his current position would be in the full sun when it rose. Breathing rapidly and unable to use his damaged side, he crawled slowly, inching his way towards the corner of the building, stopping when he reached it and could go no further. He didn't know if he'd have the strength to make it around the corner or not, but he wasn't just going to lie there and let the sun bake him. He stretched out his uninjured arm again and continued to try to inch his way around the corner of the building.
It was Reece and Dex, two hume supernatural hunters that Khazar had sent out to search one part of the city that found Vincent and Arjhay along with his horse Rhiannon. Reece took responsibility for bandaging Arjhay's injuries and getting his unconscious body loaded carefully onto Rhiannon. Dex went over to Vincent and crouched down. "Easy there. Help is at hand." He told the Daywalker, examining his injuries. Although Dex was no healer he knew enough to know that Vincent was badly hurt if he hadn't been able to heal himself. The supernatural hunter considered for a moment. He was a big, tall and strong man. He nodded then lowered his position so his neck was close to Vincent. "All right. we have no time to argue about this. Take what you need to be able to get to your feet. We'll take you back to the Inn on that horse there and we can call in one of your staff." He instructed.
Vincent was still trying to pull himself along when a pair of legs appeared beside him, then the owner of the legs crouched down beside him. He recognized the scent as someone from the second team of hunters, the ones they had rescued from Urvon's vampire nest. It surprised him when the man then consented to let him feed and even got down closer to him, for he was so weak that even a child would have been able to run before he could grab it. He was in no position to argue with the man, so he simply did as he was told and bit the offered neck, feeding only until he felt strong enough to at least sit up without falling back over. "Thank you." He told Dex as he leaned back against the side of the building. Now that he was out of danger, it occurred to him that he and the professor couldn't have been the only ones who were attacked in this way, it had been too deliberate and calculated to have been random. As Dex helped him to his feet, he voiced his concerns. "Jo...Joanna, the others?" He asked in a shaky voice.
Dex grunted in pain when Vincent bit him and took just enough of his life force to partially heal the injuries and get to his feet, but stayed still. In comparison Vincent wasn't as painful as the other vampires and he endured it. Finally he stood and helped Vincent up, feeling just slightly lightheaded and off-balance. "Joanna was brought to the Inn by a City Guard, she's been fed upon but she still lives. She's being tended to by the Lhasa family back at the Inn." Dex informed him regretfully. "She asked Jair to wake Khazar and us. We're scouring the city to find the others now. We need to go back there." He emphasized, and helped Vincent over to the professor's horse.
Vincent tried not to lean to heavily on Dex when he was helped to his feet and he listened as the man told him about Joanna. So, she'd been attacked by a vampire too. He allowed himself to be led over to the horse. He climbed aboard and grabbed the saddle to steady himself, then nodded at the two men that he was ready. Judging by his condition and the unconscious professor, he had a feeling that the others had fared no better than they had, he only hoped that they were still alive.
Talyn continued his rounds of the merchant quarter of town, but he was deep in thought. Jair had said that it was a vampire that had attacked Joanna, and he had noticed similar wounds on her neck, indicating that she had been attacked before. Then there was the silver-edged sword that she carried. Silver was supposed to be effective at fighting werewolves, so he concluded that those creatures must exist too. The question was, what was Joanna doing with a specially-made sword and out on the town in the middle of the night when she worked at the Inn? She should have gone home to rest, but she hadn't, and the merchant quarter wasn't near any of the residential quarters that he knew of. He twitched and glanced up sharply when he heard a clattering in the alleyway he was passing that startled him out of his thoughts. He had halfway drawn his sword from it's sheath on his back before he saw the fat raccoon waddling off after finding a treat in the pile of rubbish he must have been digging through. "Now you're getting jumpy." He told himself as he put his sword back and started walking again.
Between them, Khazar, Ashley, Breanna, Reece and Dex found the remainder of the wounded Supernatural hunters scattered across town. It took effort and in some cases a coordinated response but eventually each of the team was found and taken back to the basement of the Inn, where Jair and Delphyne worked tirelessly on treating them. Each person had their injuries bandaged and tended to and were laid down on a bed. Dex was also taking a rest in one of the beds and eating snacks to restore himself after letting Vincent feed on him.
Breanna was sent to Vincent's farm to bring two of his girls as they were uncertain how much energy the Daywalker would require to heal properly. Sephira was a cause for concern as she had been found unconscious with bleeding puncture marks from a vampire. In the end Delphyne had cooked meals for everyone who could eat and ensured they ate it. In Sephira's case Delphyne was kneeling by her bed holding a vial of pungent incense under her nose in order to wake her. Everyone else was sitting in bed eating under the watchful eyes of Jair, Khazar and the secondary Hunters.
Graayth sat on his bed, glad to note that everyone had survived and been safely found and brought to the Inn's basement. His silver inflicted burns were healing very slowly and causing the wounds inflicted to heal slowly. The bleeding had stopped and he was in no danger although he was still in a fair amount of discomfort. He was quietly eating the meal that Delphyne had cooked and brought to him, watching the others with some concern as they either ate or slept.
OOC: Brit, feel free to post your assassination attempt as a flashback. ;)
Sephira twitched once or twice, then started coughing when the pungent incense hit her nose. The last thing she remembered was throwing a knife at a vampire, then everything went black. She opened her eyes and coughed some more, yelping very weakly and breathing rapidly, causing her to breathe in more of the pungent incense, which in turn made her cough even more.
When Rhiannon finally made it back to the Inn and Vincent was being helped down to the basement, he stopped before they could take him into the room where Joanna was lying. He'd told them instead to bring a bed out of the room and put it in the one they normally used to meet in so that he wouldn't be in the same room as the others. It wasn't that he was afraid that he might forget himself, he wasn't, but Joanna had been attacked by a vampire and he didn't want her waking up and finding herself in the same room with another one. Thankfully, the others didn't argue with him and set him in a chair while they did as he asked, and now he was lying there and waiting for his girls to arrive.
Delphyne took the vial away from Sephira's mouth and nose when she started coughing and put the stopper back in the vial. "Relax Sephira." She said gently. "You're safe at the Inn, in the basement." She explained their location and reassured her that she was safe. She eased the young Elviri up into a sitting position. "I'm sorry I had to wake you but you need to eat and take on water. You can sleep afterwards." She said gently but firmly.
Sephira swiped at the tears on her face as she was helped to a sitting position by Delphyne, who was reassuring her that she was safe back at the inn. The strong incense fumes had irritated them just a bit. She nodded, getting slightly dizzy by the head movement, but Delphyne was there to make sure that she didn't fall over. "Thank you." She whispered, her voice very raspy, so that she could barely get the words out. As a healer, she knew that she needed to eat if she was to recover properly from an attack like she'd just suffered. As she glanced around the room, lit by lanterns, she could see that most of the other hunters were also lying in beds-all except Vincent, where was he? "Where's Vincent?" She asked, looking around again, just in case she'd missed him.
Delphyne kept Sephira supported and put the tray of food on her lap along with a fork so that she could eat with minimal effort. She also put a canteen of sweetened apple juice, and some water on the tray for her to drink when she was ready. "Vincent wanted a bed set up in the other room-where you normally meet around the table for discussions." She told Sephira quietly. "I believe he is concerned about upsetting Jo with his presence when she wakes." She clarified, knowing well about Jo's aversion to vampires.
In the middle of a nightmare where a Vampire was ripping open her stomach and she couldn't turn into her Werewolf form, Eru woke up with a shout and leaped to her feet. It took her several seconds to realize that she was standing on a bed in the basement of the Inn and that there were people all around looking at her and that she was stark naked, except for a couple of bandages.  She quickly lay back down and pulled up the covers.  "What happened?" she shouted, twitching nervously with pain and anxiety.  "Where's The Professor?  Is he all right?!"
From the far corner of the room, The Professor shouted, "I'm right here, dear girl.  Relax.  We're all alive and safe, for the moment."  He was laying in a bed of his own, sipping herbal tea from a cup and saucer.
"Your neck is all bandaged up," said Eru, grimacing with the spasms of pain that ran up and down her body.  "Are you all right?  What happened to you?"
"Oh, I was nearly killed," he replied cheerfully.  "But it's hardly the first time!"
Sephira relaxed a bit more when Delphyne explained about Vincent. She picked up the fork and nodded before putting some food in her mouth, chewing and swallowing carefully before answering. "You're probably right." She said in her raspy voice. "He's always conscious about upsetting her, I think." She continued to eat her food, trying not to wince as she swallowed. She forced herself to clean her plate, knowing Delphyne would just bully her until she did, then she made a face before drinking the sickly-sweet juice and washing it down with the water. She was so sleepy by this time that she barely remembered sliding down into the bed and she was asleep while Delphyne tucked her back in.
Vincent was sleeping in his bed out in the meeting room after someone escorted two of his women into the basement. They'd both immediately hurried over, concern and near-panic all over their faces until he assured them that one of the other hunter group had allowed him to feed enough to get him back to the Inn and until they could be fetched. He'd only fed from Millie, then let Sara take care of her as he lay back. He'd had time to think as he'd waited and something didn't add up. As the others had been carried in, it had looked to him as if they'd been nearly killed, but the vampire who'd attacked him hadn't been trying to kill him-otherwise he'd be dead. So what had the old vampire wanted? What was so strange about him, different from other vampires? Why had he used a weapon that almost drained him of his psionic powers? He fell asleep contemplating these questions, and a few others.
Timejump: Several hours until mid morning.
Time Stamp: 11:28am.
The Supernatural hunters had stayed in the basement of the Inn to sleep and recover after the assassination attempts on thier lives. Khazar and the others had gone home once they had been assured by Jair and Delphyne that Jo and her team would be well looked after. Most of them had woken up and eaten by now but some of the team still remained asleep. Soon discussions would have to begin in order to plan what to do next and try to find out who had tried to have them assassinated with tailored supernatural assassins for each person. Except of course, Vincent from hadn't been attempted to be killed at all...
Graayth had been awake for three hours or so now and was already getting bored and restless as he sat on his bed. The arrow wounds had faded and were almost healed. But the knife wound in his side was still only partially healed thanks to the fact that they had been inflicted by a silver weapon. He had been wondering, like the others, who had been trying to kill them all. The fact that each assassin had been chosen to capitalize on each hunter's weaknesses mean that the person who hired them either knew them or had been surveying them for a long time. This made Graayth frown. Neither option had any appeal.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Joanna finally woke, squirming and thrashing in bed as she woke from a nightmare. Last night's attack had brought back a lot of unwelcome memories. Weakly she straightened out the blankets and lay back to let herself calm again. Letting her heart rate return and breathing returned to normal. Once she felt a little better she looked around the basement, seeing every member of her team but Vincent. All of them-even the supernatural ones looked injured or unwell. Jo frowned as she sat up carefully and slowly. They'd all been attacked last night.

Sephira jerked awake when she heard the thrashing coming from another bed. She lay there breathing rapidly for a few moments before she sat slowly up and looked around. She saw Jo looking around and smiled at her. "How are you feeling?" She asked, her voice still a bit raspy.

Vincent hissed as he woke up in his bed in the basement of the Inn. He'd had some very strange dreams about the vampire who had attacked him and he sat up very slowly as he wondered what was so off about it. He winced as he sat back against his pillows-the broken bones had started to heal, but he was still very sore. He glanced up when Sara hurried over, looking very worried. "It's all right." He said. "I'll be all right."

"Are you sure?" Sara asked. "You were awfully weak when we got here." She'd been helping tend to the others while he slept and she was very worried. All of them had been nearly killed, and she wondered what was going on. It seemed that all of them had been attacked at roughly the same time-as if it had been very well-planned.

"I'm sure." Vincent said. He'd probably need to feed again soon, but he could let Sara wait for awhile longer. Right now he wanted to check on the others and see if any of them were waking up. And if Joanna was up to it, he had to tell her about his attacker. He carefully slid out of bed and walked over to the room where the others were and stood in the doorway, cradling his bad arm. He was relieved to see some of them, including Joanna, were awake. "Hi." He said. "Are you all right?" He stayed where he was so he wouldn't make her too nervous.

After a meal of eggs and bacon and fresh squeezed orange juice, The Professor felt better and lay back to get some sleep.  His neck and shoulder throbbed where that Demon of Rage had slashed him.  Ridiculous things, he thought. Always all worked up over nothing. Reminds me of alumni.  His back and legs also ached.  If he didn't feel better in the morning, he would ask Joanna if there were any chiropractors in town.

Tossing and turning restlessly in her bed, Eru did not sleep well.  The wounds in her leg and shoulder hurt constantly and caused muscle spasms all up and down her body, and they were not healing well.  A couple of times she had tried to turn into her Werewolf form to see if that would speed the healing process, but as soon as she started to transform the pain increased sharply, making her unable to finish the change.  She buried her head in her pillow and groaned in frustration-- the constant pain was driving her crazy.

Jo looked over at Sephira half-smiled back at her. "I'll live." She responded. Just then Vincent appeared in the doorway cradling his arm. She stayed relaxed although a part of her was wondering why he hadn't fed enough to heal his injuries yet. Surely someone had brought one or two of his girls over to him? "Hi." Jo half-smiled again at him. "I'm all right. Still weak from being bitten last night. He got enough of me that it'll take up to a week before I'm fully fit and strong again." Her half-smile wavered as the said that. She hated being injured and weak but it would take her body time to heal and replenish the blood that had been lost. "What about you? You still have injuries." She enquired, briefly envying supernaturals' abilities to heal but she'd never be willing the price to get it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When she heard voices coming from downstairs in the basement, Delphyne went downstairs and checked on the vampire hunters. Most everyone was awake by now including Jo and Sephira. She also saw that Graayth, Arjhay and Eru were in quite a bit of discomfort and pain. She was not a healer but she did keep some painkilling remedies about the Inn just in case someone got injured. She went back upstairs and mixed up three cups of the medicine and came back into the basement. She handed the three cups to Graayth, Arjhay and Eru. "Drink these. They are herbal remedies that should ease the pain." Then Delphyne went back upstairs and to cook a late breakfast for Jo and Sephira.
Vincent was glad Joanna appeared to be on the mend, though he could tell that she was very upset with being so weak right now. When she asked him about his injuries he shrugged a bit. "I'll feed again in a bit." He said. "I've started healing, but it'll be slow for me nevertheless, because of what happened." He was still unsure exactly what that old vampire was up to, but he knew it wasn't good. "My attacker was an old vampire, very old." He went on. "He could have killed me, but he didn't. He attacked me with a crystalite dagger and seemed to be waiting for it to drain me down. Why, I'm not certain of, but there was something strange about him, something different from any Nightwalker I've ever encountered." He shifted aside a bit as Delphyne brought the cups for Graayth, the professor and Eru so she wouldn't have to squeeze by him. "I can't say exactly what was different, but maybe once you feel stronger you can help me figure it out before it strikes again." He said.
Sephira was relieved when Jo assured her that she was all right, then she sat up against her pillows and glanced over to where Gaelan was lying. She knew she couldn't have helped him once the vampire attacked her, but she still felt just a little guilty that he'd had to handle that werewolf on his own. She was just thankful that he'd been able to fight it off, for she had passed out before she could look back over and see if he was all right.
Graayth saw Jo's uneasy expression when Vincent told her about the old and powerful vampire that had had tried to drain him rather than kill him and hated to add to her problems. "It gets worse unfortunately." He said quite seriously. "Each of us was precisely attacked by supernatural assassins in the same period of time. Each assassin was tailored to the weaknesses of each Hunter. Someone or something hired them and this being either knows us or has had us under surveilance for quite some time." He explained. "And as I understand it all the assassins escaped after failing to kill us." He shook his head.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"And they may try again." Jo concluded with a heavy sigh after Graayth added his information and conclusions after Vincent told her about his attack rather than assassination attempt. "It sounds then, like he wanted something from you other than killing you." She told Vincent after thinking about it for a few seconds. She felt dread and worry gnaw at her at the idea of a bunch of supernatural assassins lurking in Delmi ready to make another attempt with a very old and powerful vampire amongst them and hired by an unknown individual. She squirmed a littly uncomfortably at the thought. "Thank you for telling me. Maybe with all this time in bed I can figure out a way to turn the tables on them." Joanna wasn't too worried about being attacked in the Inn-not by supernaturals anyway as there were strong anti-supernatural wards around the Inn and her own house.

Vincent listened as Graayth and he, unfortunately, agreed with him. Each of them had assassins tailor-made to kill them, and it was only extreme luck combined with their training that the initial attacks were unsuccessful. "If it helps any, it was like the vampire had a shadow." He said. "But not a normal shadow. That's the best way I can describe it." He then went back to his bed, where Sara was waiting for him, and he fed from her so that he could finish healing. As he lay there, he tried to figure out what the shadow was that he saw.

Sephira listened to the others as she watched Gaelan and she grew uneasy. If it was a group of assassins then they would definitely try again just as soon as they could. She didn't know what they could do to protect themselves from assassins who knew their weaknesses, and what did that old vampire want with Vincent? What did he mean by shadow? She tried to think, but she was still so weak that it was very hard to sit up straight.

Talyn walked into the Inn and sat at a table. He had finished his rounds the night before and gone home to sleep for awhile, still wondering what exactly was going on. Now he was here, both to get lunch and to see if they would let him see Joanna. She had been so weak that he was worried about her. If she was able, he also had some questions that he wanted answers to, at least he hoped to get answers.
