His most famous jingle ["Hark! the Herald angels sing/ Beecham's Pills are just the thing/ Peace on earth and mercy mild/ Two for a man and one for a child"] was still well enough remembered by the old people of my youth that I remember parodying it (rather poorly, as a rat poison) in junior high.

I read a lot bout this ship when I was a kid, in those good ole days, I was an expert in this ship,
and though it was always at that Boston dock, it was still the oldest always commissioned ship
in the US Navy
