As some of you know, there have been several excellent RPGs released on the Wii in Japan in the last couple of years, games that many RPG fans in the US were upset to find out would not make it to the US due to Nintendo of America feeling that there wasn't much of a market for these games outside of Japan.  While the European market jumped at these games, many US fans were left with little choice but to protest their disappointment and try to convince NoA that these games do indeed have a market over here.  Our first win came when NoA officially announced that Xenoblade Chronicles would indeed make it to the US.  But that still left fans wondering what the fate of The Last Story would be, whether Nintendo would see that this game was indeed wanted and had a market in the US, or if they would just let it remain a Japanese and European release only.  Well, today we have our answer:

Nintendo is bringing The Last Story to the US.  Well, sort of.  Unlike Xenoblade, The Last Story is coming to the US thanks to XSEED Games.  Nintendo, probably still a bit worried about the marketing power this game may have over here, partnered with XSEED Games to help with the localization.  So while Nintendo is still overseeing the localization, XSEED Games will be the actual company publishing it in the US.  And it seems fitting, actually.  The Last Story is developed by Mistwalker, a company made up of former Square-Enix of Japan employees, while XSEED Games is a publishing company made up of former Square-Enix of America employees.  It's basically a Square-Enix reunion of sorts. :)

For those not in the know, The Last Story is a game written and directed by famed Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, with music from legendary game composer Nobuo Uematsu.  If there is any doubt as to the quality or this man's music, all you need to do is listen to this:
