FINALLY!!!  Something with the Leviathans!!!

Now, the episode is not done yet, but I wonder... Roman is buying property in the northwest US.  Wisconsin, now Oregon.  There's a devil's gate in that area, the one that Samuel Colt made with the railroad.

Could Roman be trying to access hell for some reason?

So, the Leviathans are trying to...cure cancer. I really didn't see that one coming. I have no clue how that will fit into the big picture. But it's interesting.

I suyppose if they are going to take over our bodies, they might want them to last a good long time, once we're not around to duplicate. Although the smarmy guy (loved him) made it seem like they had some, to them, nobler purpose in mind.

The whole curing cancer thing....WTF! I'm not buying it. It makes no sense, at least not at present...given this show's track record, for the most part, I'm sure it will...eventually. unless they treat it as they have the colt.

Who here didn't see what happened to Frank coming, as soon as he cracked the firewall on the website?

My one nitpick...if this guy sold all these cursed objects, he had to have handled them when giving them to the customers...how is it they didn't kill him in the process.

And a very big thank you to the show powers that be for NOT showing whatever was happening to the cursed porn mag buyer. I can only imagine...and that's more then enough, thank you very much. lol.

^^The imagined scene of the cursed porn mag buyer was more than enough.  Sometimes things are so much better when left to the imagination.

The only way that I am buying that the Leviathans are curing cancer is that it serves their needs...whatever those maybe.  Something that benefits them...not humanity.

then the Winchesters and even Joyce.  Though seeing the way she treated him, not sure one can blame him for that one. Make sure she's dead for sure.

I'm not sure why the cursed objects did not affect Scott, the store owner...there may have been some reason that they just did not go into here.

The curing cancer thing makes perfect sense to me; why wouldn't a farmer want to cure the diseases that afflict his cattle?

A thought; Leviathans can die, but can they reproduce? They might be looking for a way to make more of themselves to stave off extinction. Remember that these are beings who (like angels, demons, and Death) work on vastly different timescales than us mere mortals. Not only are we not seeing the whole picture, we're likely just seeing the paper being set down for the rough draft. Sam & Dean's proverbial great-great-great-great grandkids might be dead of old age before things even get started.

After hearing they want to cure cancer, I got to thinking that they would do that so they can have a clean supply of food.

But then it hit me... they may be very poweful beings, but they are likely VASTLY outnumbered by humans, which would be a good reason why Roman has been so insistent on their existence being kept a secret.  Enough humans would be able to defeat them.  So how can they circumvent that?

By doing something so immense that it would make humans basically worship them as saviors and heroes... something like curing cancer.  Imagine curing cancer, and sharing that cure to every human around the globe... not only do they make their food supply healthier, but they would come to THEM offering no resistance whatsoever.  They can easily and quietly eat food at their leisure, and no one would suspect a thing because they have done humanity a supreme service giving the cure.

And perhaps another part to that is that maybe cancer is just as deadly to Leviathans as it is to us.  Maybe some of them ate humans that had cancer and either died from it or were severely weakened to the point of near death and couldn't recover.  Since there really is no way to weaponize cancer for use against the Leviathans, I doubt the writers have made that a reason.  At the very least, it might make us less tasty... cancer free humans equals happy Leviathan tummies.

That's a good theory, Farscape One. It's like the methods the Visitors used in the new V--although that's not a model I'd want to copy. I think we need to know whether Leviathans need humans as a food supply or whether they just selectively eat people when it serves their strategic purposes. That they condemn their own to self-consumption does point to appetite as something more central to their being rather than just a way to survive. And I think it's important that their death penalty does not involve being eaten by another Leviathan.

I like all of the theories  so far but I'm wondering if it also has something to do with the transformations/duplicating thing they do.  

Since they copy the human so completely down to thoughts even, maybe they duplicate some things like cancer as a result that doesn't leave them when they transform again.

It could be any of the theories we've come up with...or none of the above

I know that this whole Leviathans 'curing cancer' thing came out of left field for me with a loud "WHAT?" being my reaction.

Yeah, the appetite is definitely a central point to them.

For all we know, the solution to the Leviathan problem is as simple as playing Pac-Man again and looking for clues, because to me so far, the Leviathans seem little more than Pac-Man with the ability to shapeshift.

Hell, even their true face when they feed look a little like an ugly version of Pac-Man.

Maybe we just need to bring in Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde to kill the Leviathans...

It would neatly bring things full-circle --the ghosts that the boys used to hunt way back in S1 end up being key to defeating the Leviathans.

My first thought was about their food supply.  We have seen on a couple of occasions where they go to great lengths to eat someone.....so curing cancer would clean up their food supply.  We have also seen where they have given stuff to people to make them complacent and get fat by constantly eating.  What better way to grow your food supply by making them healthy and then fattening them up for slaughter.
