Despite the dry heat of the desert air, the newly-promoted Major Andrea Tamell trotted through the sands of the desert at a rapid pace. She was covering the right flank of SG-1 as they made a retreat for the Stargate. Along with two other soldiers from the SGC, she had been assigned to assist SG-1 as Dr Daniel Jackson studied the ruins this alien planet had and conversed with the locals. And by 'assist' that meant standing quietly but alertly in the shade while the archaeologist did the actual work. At least until he'd declared there was nothing of use on this planet and they had decided to return to Earth. Only then to be attacked by giant scorpions. Oh the villagers had warned them of the giant scorpions but they hadn't meant 'how' giant. They happened to be almost as big as a horse. They'd driven off the giant scorpions after a protracted battle but Colonel O'Neill had been stung by the creatures which had left him to being half-carried by Teal'c across the sands back towards the gate while everyone else covered them. Andrea felt a certain amount of relief when she spotted the familiar ring-shape of the Stargate in the distance but that relief quickly turned to caution when she heard the shuffling and clicking that signalled that more of the giant scorpions were incoming. "We got scorpions incoming." She warned the others as she tightened her grip on her assault rifle and the group carried on towards the gate in formation.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On another planet entirely in a different part of the galaxy, Nayette wearily crawled back through the undergrowth and into her concealed tent. Since being exiled from Drasnia yesterday and setting up camp here she'd spent most of her time sleeping in the warmth and dryness of her tent, only venturing out for short periods of time for bathroom breaks. Once back inside the tent she zipped the flap shut again and removed her boots. She sat on top of her bedding for a few minutes while she consumed some of the food and water stacked neatly next to her bedding. She had enough food and bottled water for another six days and could live off the military nutrient bars she'd been given for another three after that. Since she was camped near a lake water wouldn't really be a problem. Maybe she would feel strong and healthy again after six more days. Or maybe not. Nayette wished she had been given more time to recover before being exiled but there was nothing she could do about it. After eating and drinking she lay down and tucked herself up in her sleeping bag then arranged her pillow and blanket just so before making herself comfortable. As usual it wasn't long before she fell asleep again.
Lieutenant Eva Davies all but ran next to Teal'c as he half-carried Colonel O'Neill back towards the gate, keeping a close eye on him after he'd been stung by the giant scorpion. This mission had started out like any other, with Dr. Jackson studying some ruins, but before they'd gotten very far the giant arachnoid things attacked them. While they'd managed to kill a couple of them and scare the rest of them back with their gunfire, one of them had managed to sting the leader of SG-1 and he'd collapsed soon after. She'd bandaged the large puncture wound to try to stem the bleeding, then instructed Teal'c to help him to the gate as quickly as possible since she had no idea how long it would be before the venom would affect him, and they needed to get him to Dr. Fraiser ASAP.
Now the gate was in sight and the others were keeping the scorpions at bay...or she hoped so as they hurried as fast as they could.
Lieutenant Keith Weber trotted through the sand behind Teal'c as he half-carried Colonel O'Neill back to the gate after the giant scorpions attacked them. He couldn't blame the insects, they were just chasing down a meal. He wasn't prepared to be dinner just yet, though, so he helped kill two of them and run the rest of the things off and then started back to the gate. Now, he caught the scrabbling of more scorpions as they weren't prepared to let such juicy meals get away.
He stopped next to his new commander, Major Tarnell, and turned to face the beasts as the others continued to run for the gate. No way was those things going to get through him. He knew he could take the stings if he had to, his parasite afforded him excellent protection against poisons and venoms, all he had to worry about would be the big holes that the stinger would leave, though that would even heal faster than a normal person would. He lifted his P-90 in preparation to fire as the scrabbling got louder on the other side of the big sand dune in front of them.
As the group approached the Stargate, Andrea heard the rustling and clicking sounds of the giant scorpions grow louder. She turned, along with Keith to protect the others while they prepared to dial the gate back to Earth. She knew she had to be careful to avoid being stung by the creatures. The size of the wounds they'd leave behind was one problem but after watching how quickly Colonel O'Neill had been affected by the venom the same would happen to her if she got stung. With a practised ease she slid into a defensive stance and raised her assault rifle in preparation to fire. She listened alertly for when one of the others would dial the gate and for the sound of the wormhole forming even while she measured the distance between herself, Keith and the top of the sand dune ahead of them in her mind. Quickly Andrea changed plans and one hand dropped to her belt for the grenades stashed there. "Watch yourself when they crest the dune in front of us. I'm going to see if a grenade will be effective." She warned Keith calmly. When the first dark outline of a giant scorpion became visible on top of the dune, Andrea pulled out the pin on the grenade and lobbed it. "Get down!" She called out as she dropped to a crouch and covered her ears. Moments later the grenade went off with a muffled boom and sand flew everywhere. She straightened and readied her assault rifle again as there was a few moments of silence, then the clicking and rustling started again as they regrouped.
Keith had dropped into a defensive stance and raised his P-90 when Major Tamell calmly announced that she was going to try a grenade. When she lobbed it, he automatically half-turned and ducked, covering his ears until the sand stopped falling on him, then he turned and saw that several of the giant things were either dead or too crippled to continue on. However, the rest of the swarm suddenly split up as they crested the dune and went around, one group scurrying towards his new leader and the other group making a beeline for him. "Well, bugs that can think..." He thought to himself as he opened fire on the group targeting him.
Colonel Jack O'Neill, half-addled by the venom in his system, paused and half-stumbled around when he heard t he boom. "What was that?" He asked, his voice half-slurred, as if he'd had one too many beers.
"Um, Major Tamell just blew up a few of those scorpions." Dr. Daniel Jackson said, glancing around, then heading for the gate again.
"Really?" O'Neill asked, moving again, mostly because Teal'c continued towards the gate again.
"Yes, sir." Major Samantha Carter confirmed as they almost reached the DHD. She wasn't concerned with the booms, she was concerned with getting Colonel O'Neill back to the SGC as quickly as possible. She'd never seen scorpions attack in such numbers before and it puzzled her a bit, but not enough to dwell on it. She reached the gate, slung her gun over her shoulder and started dialing as the sound of P-90s firing reached them.
Jack grinned crookedly when Carter confirmed that some of the creatures got blown up. "I like her." He slurred. Anyone who resorted to blowing things up was all right in his book.
"Indeed." Teal'c said as he supported O'Neill and waited while Samantha Carted started dialing the gate.
"Those things are unlike any scorpions I've ever seen." Eva said, partially voicing Sam's concerns, though she didn't know it. "Their facial structure and general body type are slightly different. Plus, they're attacking in a swarm." She then glanced back and saw that the swarm had broken into two groups and were targeting the two soldiers covering their rear flank. "And they're exhibiting an intelligence normal scorpions don't have." She finished. Then she went back to monitoring the Colonel while Samantha dialed the gate. Whatever the hell they were wasn't as important as getting this man back to the infirmary so that Dr. Fraiser could treat him.
Keith continued to shoot the scorpions flooding towards him as he could hear Major Tamell doing the same on her side. He'd had to start backing up occasionally as they started getting too close, and he'd had to change clips at least once already. He heard someone dialing the gate, but he didn't glance back to see who, since the pony-sized scorpions were determinedly bearing down on him. All he could do was continue to retreat slowly and shoot them until he either ran out of clips or they got the gate open and the injured Colonel through.
Samantha Carter finally finished dialing the gate and watched while the wormhole formed. She then entered her code into her GDO.
Andrea toyed with the idea of using one of her two remaining grenades again as the scorpions split up to avoid the area she'd just blown up and moved in a flanking motion but they were too close for her to use safely. They were odd scorpions-she didn't remember the normal sized Earth ones ever moving in swarms or exhibiting much intelligence during her tours in Iraq and Afganistan. The thought was quickly gone from her mind as she opened fire on the giant scorpions bearing down on her position. Nevertheless she was forced back towards the gate step by step as they got ever closer to her. She heard someone dialling the gate behind her as she reloaded and continued to kill several more scorpions with her assault rifle. She listened carefully as the wormhole formed, then risked a quick glance over her shoulder to see that Major Carter had input her GDO code and recieved the green light.
Indeed all Andrea saw were the remainder of SG-1 disappearing through the event horizon. "Come on! They're through!" She called out to Keith between bursts of fire. Andrea didn't hesitate at all. With the foremost of the giant scorpions from her group practically nipping at her heels she sprinted the short distance to the gate. She paused long enough to shoot one more burst to give Keith a little more time to get to the gate then stepped through. Moments later she emerged from the wormhole to the familiar an-in comparison to the desert she'd just been in-dim interior of the gate room at the SGC. Andrea took a couple steps down the ramp and could see already that Dr Fraiser and the medical staff were already transerring Colonel O'Neill to a gurney and fussing around him. Then she half turned back towards the gate to see if Keith made it through.
Eva ran through the gate with Teal'c as soon as they got the green light to go. Major Carter and Daniel Jackson were hot on their heels and she had just helped transfer Colonel O'Neill to a gurney when Major Tamell also ran through and then turned with her gun ready. They couldn't close the iris until Weber got through, but she turned her attention back to O'Neill and pulled one of the straps around him while Dr. Fraiser fastened the other one. "He got stung by what looked like a giant scorpion." She told Dr. Fraiser. She then listed his symptoms and what she'd done, which was to just bandage the gaping wound and give him some pain meds. She then glanced up again when she heard a noise, and almost gasped when Weber finally made it through, tumbling and with one of the giant creatures on top of him, grabbing him with its large claws and lashing its tail at him in preparation to sting him...
Keith continued backing towards the gate, noting without turning his head that the others were scurrying through, including his new commander, who had sprayed the closest scorpions away before running through the gate. He continued spraying the ones coming after him and backed up, not able to turn since they were so close, and the closest one took advantage of the fact that he had emptied his second clip, and it jumped on him, grabbing him with one of its claws before the momentum pushed them both into the wormhole. The next thing he knew they were both tumbling towards the ramp and he reached up and grabbed at the tail that was trying to jab him. "Someone shoot this thing!" He hollered as he used all his strength to try to keep the stinger away and yelled when the pincher holding him tightened its grip and the other pincher came around to grab him as well.
Andrea blinked in surprise when Keith tumbled through the Stargate whilst wrestling with one of the giant scorpions. Even as she raised her assault rifle and took careful aim so that she would hit the scorpion, not Keith she bellowed. "CLOSE THE IRIS!" The words were barely out of her mouth before the gate operator complied. Meanwhile she'd finished taking aim and fired a short, controlled burst of bullets at the scorpion that Keith was wrestling with, killing it. She glanced up as the metal iris expanded across the gate as another scorpion partially made it through. That scorpion was caught by the extending metal and was neatly cut in half when it finished sealing. She heard several more thumps against the iris before the gate finally disengaged. Andrea slung her assault rifle across her shoulder and went over to Keith, putting her hands on the dead giant scorpion and helping haul the dead weight off him. "You okay?" She asked. "Did you get stung?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Janet Fraiser acknowledged what Eva was telling her about Jack O'Neill as she administered a couple antivenoms and steroids to buy her more time to come up with a proper treatment. "You did good." She assured the medic with a quick reassuring smile. She spared them a glance when Keith tumbled through while wrestling with a giant scorpion which was quickly dispatched by Andrea Tamell. "I have to rush the Colonel to the infirmary. Lieutenant Davies, can you check on Weber and Tamell?" Janet waited for a moment until Eva acknowledged her orders then nodded to the rest of her medical staff and began pushing the gurney hastily towards the infirmary.

Keith helped shove the horse-sized scorpion off himself before he lay where he fell, breathing rapidly. When she asked if he was all right, if he'd been stung, he nodded, catching his breath before sitting up. "It just squeezed the hell out of me with its claws." He answered, glancing up when Eva hurried over to check on him. "I'm okay." He assured her, remaining still while she examined him anyway.

Eva breathed a sigh of relief when Major Tamell was able to quickly kill the scorpion before it could sting Weber. She nodded when Dr. Fraiser told her to go check on them while she rushed Colonel O'Neill to the infirmary. "Yes, Doctor." She said, grabbing her medkit and hurrying over. Weber assured her he was fine, but she examined him anyway, noting the only injuries were some tearing of his skin above the incubation pouch that his infant Goa'uld could heal for him. She cleaned those up, then made sure he hadn't been stung before he tumbled through the gate, then she turned her attention to Major Tamell. "How about you, you okay?" She asked, looking her over.

After the scuffle with the scorpion was over with, Major Samantha Carter gave General Hammond a brief report about what happened on the planet. She then hurried after O'Neill's gurney when Janet hurriedly pushed it out and hurried to the infirmary. She was very worried about him, and hoped that Janet would be able to come up with an antivenom before he got too sick.

Andrea handed her weapons and vest to a waiting guard as Eva checked on Keith. The adrenaline and rush of battle was fading and she became aware of other discomforts such as lingering heat from running and fighting in the desert and an encroaching tiredness. When asked if she was okay Andrea noded. "I'm fine." Nevertheless she took her flask of water and drank from it. She watched as research teams came and started removing the bodies of the giant scorpions. She hid a smile at the endless curiousity of the science-types. She hoped they would find something useful from the bodies since it had come at the price of Colonel O'Neill being stung. Her smile faded as she wondered if he would survive. To clear her thoughts she turned to Eva. "I don't think I have anything other than a few bruises and abrasions." She informed her.

Eva nodded as she looked over Tamell and saw the scratches and bruises. She cleaned them up very efficiently, smiling when she drank from her flask of water. "You should rest up and drink more water, both of you." She told them. "Just cool off for awhile, you've earned it." She then regarded Tamell, just a little amused. "By the way, Colonel O'Neill thinks you're all right."

Keith sat up and drank from his own flask of water after Eva cleaned up his wounds from the fight with the scorpion. That was a really big one too, about the size of a horse, rather than the other pony-sized ones he'd been mowing down with his P-90. Maybe it was some kind of leader or Alpha scorpion or something, though he'd never seen scorpions live and hunt in swarms like that. Perhaps the scientists will be able to tell something more about them from the corpses. He had no problem with chilling out and having more water, he needed to meditate anyway so that his wounds could take time to heal. He glanced over at Major Tamell when Eva told her that the Colonel thought she was all right. Well, that was something, coming from him. He then stood up and stretched a bit. "I'll just be in my quarters." He said. He then left the gate room and headed for his quarters.

Andrea smiled as she walked out of the gate room with Eva as they headed to the messhall. Their pace was unhurried and relaxed as they proceeded down the corridors. She had divested herself of all the extra kit so she was merely wearing her uniform and carrying her flask of water. Wisely she didn't gulp it down despite being thirsty but took it in steady sips. "Dare I ask why the Colonel thinks that?" She asked with a mixture of wariness and curiousity. She was tempted to stop by the infirmary to check on how he was doing but she knew the best thing right now was to let the doctors work on him.

As they turned around the corner to approach messhall she spotted one of the few civilians working on the base walking by, a young man named Kyle that was a new archaeology graduate and an apprentice studying under Daniel Jackson with all the ancient artifacts brought in from offworld. Although he'd never actually been offworld, he was intelligent and SG-2 badly needed a linguist and archaeologist on the team. In fact the team was almost complete. Only a scientist and an archaeologist were needed. Unless the SGC assigned someone more experienced to SG-2 Kyle was the current candidate. Andrea's stomach rumbled audibly as they approached the messhall and she caught the scent of cooking food.

OOC: Kyle being an emergency semi-npc 'temp' character in case we have to start the arc without RJ. ;)

Earlier:

Addi saluted General Hammond in his office. He'd just officially transferred her to SG-2 and had let her...and Takari...know in person. It was an informal meeting so she'd remained in her base uniform. Her long brown hair was secured up in a tight bun.

“Thank you, Sir,” Addi said. “I won't let you down, Sir.”

The General nodded and smiled.

Then Addi paused, then she lowered her head and closed her eyes to conceal the glowing of her eyes. Tok'ra did not like others to see that part of them. Takari wished to speak.

Takari raised her head and nodded solemnly. “I appreciate this, General Hammond,” she said, her voice sounding like all the other Tok'ra, and even the Goa'uld. “It has been most enlightening serving the SGC, and an honor. I, too, will perform to the best of my ability.”

“I know you will, Takari,” the General replied. So far the Tok'ra had shown loyalty and willingness to be a part of the SGC and her team. Just then the warning klaxon sounded from the gate room. The General stood quickly. “Dismissed,” he ordered as he rushed out the door to the conference room and down the stairs to the gate room.

* * * * *

Addi had left the General's office, made a few stops, then pulled the letter out of her pocket to read it again. She smiled at the signature at the bottom. “Sha're”. Dr, Jackson had brought her the letter after his latest visit to Abydos to visit his wife.

Addi thought back to a couple of months ago when she and Takari had been involved in the mission to PX8-873 to help SG-1 rescue a group of kidnapped Abydonians, including Dr. Jackson's father-in-law, Kasuf. Having seen Dr. Jackson heading for the tent where his wife, now host to the Goa'uld Amaunet, stood, Addi had taken off after him. Behind her a large group of Amaunet's Jaffa attacked SG-1 and the others. Addi arrived in time to see the Goa'uld attempting to kill Dr. Jackson with her karakesh.

Allowing Takari to take over, Addi had watched as the Tok'ra shot the Goa'uld with a zat to stun her. Peeking out the opening of the tent, Takari had seen Teal'c storming his way toward them. Swearing, she dragged Amaunet toward the back and hoisted the woman over her shoulder. But before she could get her away, Teal'c, then Colonel O'Neill and Major Carter had entered. It took all of Takari's persuasive abilities to convince them she could possibly help save Sha're for Dr. Jackson...and that she wasn't going to kill her because she was a Goa'uld. Colonel O'Neill hadn't completely trusted her and insisted she tell them the address of the planet. Takari refused, politely, having sworn to her Council to not reveal Tok'ra secrets....just as Addi had sworn not reveal the SGC's. But she had agreed to escorts.

Addi glanced at the letter again. Takari had gated to a Tok'ra controlled world, with their team to help her. The Tok'ra been willing to perform the Extraction Ceremony on Sha're, and had been successful in removing the symbiote. Three days later, Addi had returned Sha're to Dr. Jackson on Earth. Sha're had told her that she would return to Abydos to live with her family because she wanted Daniel to continue to search for Apophis' child. Addi knew that Sha're had provided her husband with some information on the child but not what was said. Addi also knew that Dr. Jackson visited his wife as often as he could.

Addi smiled as she maneuvered down the corridors of the underground base, heading for the mess hall. She could feel Takari smile, too. Their thoughts and memories were one now, and each experienced the others' emotions.

“Hey...you gonna just walk by and ignore us now that you've moved up in the world, Parker?”

A familiar voice stopped her. Addi turned to see Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Ivanov, the team leader of SG-4...her old team now...and Captain Alex Babbis.

“No, Sirs,” Addi said with a grin. She'd been with these guys, along with Karl Walker, their civilian scientist, for the past two and a half years. They'd agreed to take her back after she'd blended with Takari, trusting her...trusting them...to still do the job, and Addi had been grateful for that. “Just lost in thought while going to get something to eat.”

The tall, well-built guys gestured toward the mess hall. “Same here. We'll have a last meal together.”

Addi chuffed. “I'm not dying, you guys,” she said informally, not forgetting that, in fact, she had once been dying.

“No, you're both just deserting us,” Babbis teased.

Addi dipped her head and closed her eyes briefly. “You will still see us,” Takari reminded them. “We are not leaving the base.”

Babbi laughed and sighed at the same time. “Joking, Takari...remember we talked about that.”

“Ah, yes. My bad...as you say...I forgot. I will remember next time,” the Tok'ra said. “I will still wish to have our weekly chess games, if you are willing.”

“You betcha,” Babbis replied with a too-large grin. He'd been worried about that actually.

“Okay, here we are. What do we want to eat to celebrate Addi and Takari's new team?” Ivanov asked.

“Definitely pie,” Addi said. “Always pie.”

Suddenly Ivanov nudged her. "Isn't that part of the new SG-2?" he asked.

Addi glanced to where Major Tamell and Eva Davies were approaching the mess hall. She and Takari wondered if they knew of their addition to the team yet...and what their reactions would be.

Eva was glad to see that Andrea was sipping her water instead of drinking it down, being overheated, one had to cool off gradually and sip water to avoid getting sick. She wandered towards the mess hall, chatting with the new leader of SG-2, when she asked why the Colonel thought she was all right. "Well, I think it had something to do with the way you blew up some of those scorpions." She said, explaining a bit about his reaction to the grenade going off. "You know his method of 'negotiating' with hostiles is to generally blow them up." She finished by saying. By then they had just about made it to the mess hall when she heard a male voice asking about SG-2, and she glanced up to see the commander and another from SG-4, along with Addison, their former team member, who had been transferred to the newly-reforming SG-2. "Hello Lieutenant Parker, Takari, Colonel, Captain." She greeted the trio, along with Takari's Tok'ra. She didn't  have much of a problem with the blended pair, people, especially humans, will do almost anything when they were dying. She just wasn't sure how Lieutenant Weber would regard them since his blending (of sorts) had been forced. He'd adjusted well enough, but she thought that maybe he still harbored some resentment for being forced to carry the larvae of his enemy just to stay alive. And what would he do in four years time when the larvae matured?

Keith entered his quarters after stopping off at the showers and cleaning up. He then sat on the mat on his floor and assumed the position he'd been taught by Teal'c back when he was teaching him how to adjust to his 'Junior', which he had decided to call 'Little K' to differentiate. He then started his breathing exercises and relaxed, letting Little K do his work. He would go get a meal later on when he felt better and there weren't so many people in the mess hall. No matter what any of them tried to tell him, the immature forms or the mature forms of those snakes were parasites and he'd gladly give his up if there was another way for him to live without it.

"Hello Lieutenant Parker, Takari, Colonel, Captain."

Addi smiled back at the other Lieutenant and felt a small bit of relief. Even Takari was relieved as the symbiote knew it was important to fit in and be trusted, something that had been hard for her to learn but she was trying. Addi had been at Stargate Command since the beginning and knew a lot of the people; but that didn't mean everyone knew everyone, especially as friends. Addi knew the entire base knew of her now...and Takari...as her blending had been a major event.

And all military and civilian personnel had been made aware of the new addition to the SGC for safety reasons. Not everyone had been accepting of the idea personally, but no one had any say in the matter. Addi and Takari had their objectors, of course, but professionally everyone had continued to work together. She tried to keep the negative comments and actions they sometimes suffered to herself. No one had been overtly cruel in front of others or had done anything to risk punishment. Takari reminded her of Keith, another of their new teammates, who had had a Goa'uld symbiote forced upon him, the sworn enemy of the Tok'ra. Takari had been hesitant to work with Lieutenant Weber because of that, but Addi had insisted it wasn't his fault. She'd known Keith before her blending, but didn't know how he felt about her now as they'd not spoken much beyond professionally in passing in the last six months.

"Lieutenant Davies...Eva," Addi replied less formally now that they were teammates.

The two members of SG-4 nodded and nudged Addi that they'd be at a table.

Then she turned respectfully to Andrea. "Major," she said in greeting to her new commander. "Was that you two that came back through the gate when the warning sounded?" Addi asked, noticing their slightly disheveled appearances. She wondered if they'd been out as SG-2 yet.

Andrea chuckled when Eva explained further. "Well there is a reason I insist on carrying grenades and C4 along to every mission." She remarked as they entered the messhall. Although she had insisted that the scientists come up with a slightly modified type of grenade for offworld purposes that was a little more complicated to set off than simply removing a pin. She didn't want a repeat of the time last year when she and the rest of SG-8 had been captured by some comparatively primitive natives and had regained their freedom a lot quicker than Andrea had been planning when several of their captors played with one of her conviscated grenades. She acknowledged SG-4 when she encountered them and remained quiet for a moment while Eva and Addi greeted each other. She wouldn't insist on formality within her team. "Lieutenant, Takari." She responded to Addi and her Tok'ra. Andrea had mixed feelings regarding the blending. She'd known Addi in a professional capacity both before and after the blending. She wasn't entirely sure about the reliability of the Tok'ra in general as a faction but she'd seen enough of SG-4's mission reports since the blending to decide that as individuals Takari and Addi were trustworthy.

She wouldn't have a problem having them as a part of her newly-forming team although she was aware of potential issues between Keith and Addi/Takari. Indeed Andrea had made a mental note to keep an eye on them but she wouldn't intervene unless she had to. "It was." She answered the question asked of her. "Lieutenants Davies and Weber and I were assigned to escort SG-1 to PX3-112 while they investigated the ruins there since the MALP had indicated there might be dangerous wildlife in the area. There wasn't much there except a fortified village and some dry, sandy old ruins. I don't think Dr Jackson found anything useful which is unfortunate because it means we got attacked by giant alien scorpions for nothing." She explained. "Giant alien scorpions that attack in swarms and show simple hunting tactics." Andrea added. "One stung Colonel O'Neill so we had a bit of a diffiult time getting him back to the gate and fending off said giant scorpions. He's in the infirmary right now."

Addi's brown eyes opened wide at the thought of giant scorpions attacking. That sounded just as horrible as what had attacked her and SG-4 that nearly resulted in her death. She was relieved that Colonel O'Neill had fared better in his attack. She dipped her head briefly.

Takari opened her eyes. "We're sorry to hear about Colonel O'Neill and hope he recovers," she replied. It was no secret how the Colonel felt about the Tok'ra in general, and he'd been against her blending with Addison but it hadn't been his choice. Still, Takari wished no harm to come to a superior officer, nor Jack O'Neill personally. "It's well the rest of you escaped unharmed," she said...and meant it.

Glancing over at SG-4, Takari raised her eyebrows. They could hear it was her speaking. Ivanov nodded at her. Turning back to Andrea and Eva, Takari said politely, "Perhaps I...we...might join you for a meal?" she asked, knowing Addi would have been hesitant to ask. "Since we're on the same team now?"

Andrea watched as Addi and Takari 'switched' places with the symbiote as Takari spoke. She'd only seen it happen once before during the brief encounters with them since the blending. It had taken some getting used to as in her experience, hearing the voice of a symbiote usually meant gunfire and fighting soon after during her battles against the Goa'uld. She had gotten used to it though and it no longer bothered her. Andrea smiled as she believed Takari and nodded. "Of course." She agreed. They headed over to the food counter. In truth she preferred to get to know her team members a little before their first mission together. "Most of the team has been assigned. Unless they find someone more suitable we'll be getting that archaeology apprentice of Dr Jackson's although they're still working on a suitable scientist for us. I've heard we're going to be scheduled for a routine exploration mission within a few days. Nothing official yet though." Still, she usually heard reliable information so she was intent on getting as much rest as possible until then.

Eva headed over to the food counter with Andrea and  Addi and selected her choices-healthy vegetables and grilled chicken. "Weber came back wrestling one of the things." She told Addi. "And another got cut in half by the iris. Weber will be fine, he's meditating right now and will probably come down to eat after. The scientists should have fun trying to dissect them since they're almost as big as horses. Me, I'm quite interested in them since they seemed unlike any scorpions I've ever encountered, and I don't mean because they're gigantic." She went and sat at a table with her meal, intending to get dessert after.

"They were odd scorpions." Andrea agreed as she chose her own selection of chicken and cooked vegetables and sat down at a table with Eve and Addi/Takari. "But they were alien creatures on another world." She shrugged indifferently. "We encounter lots of strange things whenever we go through that gate." They had died when shot and everyone had made it back through the gate. Moreover the SGC now knew what kind of heavy weapons and armour to accompany any further teams that went through. That was enough as far as Andrea was concerned. She knew that studying and research was necessary but that was why the SGC hired whole science teams both military and civilian. She was looking forward to a quiet evening of chess or puzzle games after eating. A well honed mind was important as a strong body. But it was also another way of relaxing and taking her mind off current events. "But hopefully there won't be giant scorpions on our first mission together as a team." Andrea said out loud.

"Yeah, that's true. It was an alien planet." Eva agreed as she started eating. "And I certainly hope there isn't giant anything on our first mission out, I've had quite enough of that for awhile." She was looking forward to relaxing with some puzzles or games, or something from the rec room, before settling for the night. She didn't know whether they would have their scientist when they left or not, but she could do double duty if one hadn't been found yet. "So, either of you up for some games this evening?"

Keith spent some time in meditation, he wasn't sure how much, but it probably wasn't nearly as long as Teal'c would like to see, but he was a little restless and he was Tau'ri, and didn't quite have the patience of the other, larger, Jaffa. His wounds from the claws of the giant scorpion were beginning to heal and he was getting hungry. It didn't help that he had to eat enormous amounts of food to sustain both him and the parasite, either and he'd had his share of friendly jabs from fellow soldiers, which he took with good grace. He stood and put on a clean pair of green uniform pants and a black tank top and his army boots, then went to the mess hall, entering and regarding the trio of ladies at one table, before going to the line and piling food on a couple of plates before going to sit at a table that was near the others, but by himself.

He remembered Addi before she joined with the Tok'ra parasite and he still trusted her, but since the joining he had barely acknowledged the parasite, Takari. He didn't trust the Tok'ra parasites any more than Colonel O'Neill did. They were just as arrogant and condescending as their Goa'uld enemy and sometimes it was hard to differentiate between the two since the Tok'ra were very, very secretive, something he didn't trust either since the Tok'ra were supposed to be allies.

He started chowing down on his food, ravenous after wrestling with the giant scorpion.
