"Great," Addi replied, although it had been Takari who'd asked the question, as she followed Andrea and Eva to the food bar. Her Tok'ra faded into the background to give Addi time to get to know her new team members more fully. Takari would see and hear everything anyway, and she knew most people on the base were more comfortable with Addi.

In between bites of food, she listened to and participated in the conversation, first about a possible new scientist member, Kyle, who was the archaeology apprentice of Dr Jackson's. He was nice enough, Addi had said, and definitely smart if they did end up with him. And it was exciting to think they might go on their first mission in a few days time. She'd agreed that not encountering anything gigantic on that first mission would be to her liking as well.

Eventually Addi saw Keith enter the mess hall looking healthy enough after his encounter, so his meditation must have worked. She scolded Takari slightly as the Tok'ra symbiote mumbled in her mind a few choice words about the Goa'uld parasites after Keith went to sit at a table by himself.

Addi turned back to Eva. "What sort of games were you thinking of?" she asked. "Anything but chess, though. That's Takari's game, not mine. I'm hopeless at it even though she's tried to teach me. I just let her play on her own with Captain Babbis."

Addi took a bite of pie, with added ice cream for Takari's benefit. The symbiote had a bit of a sweet tooth, so to speak.

Andrea regarded them with a mildly curious smile. "Perhaps Takari will indulge me in a game of chess sometime then." She suggested. "I've been playing it and other similar puzzle games that keep the mind sharp since I was quite small." She admitted. She found it interesting that two of her team seemed like they played games similar to those that she did. Of course Andrea did play other computer games and watched movies for entertainment value for those times when she was too tired for a puzzle, but it was proving valuable to learn a lilttle about her team.

OOC: I'll be jumping us ahead a few days for the beginning of the arc in a few real life hours.

Addi closed her eyes. Takari opened them. "I'd be delighted, Andrea,", the Tok'ra said. "Addi prefers to read, which is very informative and entertaining, of course. That is, when she's not absorbed in DVD's of various shows about what she calls 'the supernatural'."

Takari tried to look innocent at revealing a small secret of Addi's. The Tok'ra did not have myths or any knowledge about vampires, zombies, or witches, and she found Addison's fascination intriguing if strange.

Keith listened as the women at the next table talked, and while he didn't say anything, he did have a few thoughts about that parasite, ones that afforded no good reason to accept one. They kept all their secrets tightly locked away over a highly nonsensical reason-if one of the SG teams who knew their secrets happened to get captured then they'd spill their guts about them when tortured. Well, that excuse worked both ways, sister. How do we know you won't spill your guts like you just did over Addi's entertainment preferences? He already knew her preferences, having spent a lot of time with her before...but he didn't think that the Major or Davies did. That parasite was going to have to do a hell of a lot of convincing to get him to trust it, hell, he wasn't even sure if it was even letting Addi out and was just pretending to be her.

"Well, I can always play one of the video games in the rec room." Eva said. "Maybe I can get Weber over there to engage in a dual shoot 'em up or something since he doesn't sleep anymore." She glanced over at him and he was watching them, so she smiled. "How about it?"

Keith afforded Davies a faint smile when she asked him to play a video game with her. "Sure, I can use some slaughtering time after that scorpion battle." He nodded at Addi and smiled at her. "Been awhile, Addi." He said, ignoring the parasite.

OOC: Okay we're timejumping ahead to the first mission. If you want to post about the conversation we can reflect it in flashbacks. :)

IC:

Time Jump: Two days later.

Time Stamp: 9:02 am

The conversation between Andrea, Eva, Keith Addi and Takari had passed companiably and well over dinner and dessert. For her part Andrea went to the gym after she'd finished eating and went through a series of gentle stretching exercises before showering and returning to her quarters. She passed the evening playing a few puzzle games on her computer before watching an episode of one of her favourite tv programmes before going to bed. The next day she'd also spent doing her workout regime at the gym, going for a run and entertaining herself. In the morning General Hammond had summoned SG-2 to the briefing room where he'd briefed them about their mission to PX2-284. The MALP had indicated it was habitable, forested and there were indiations of woodcutters meaning that there was a village nearby. He had also introduced them to Dr Michaela Kenyon who was to be the team's archaeologist and linguist. A scientist for the team was still pending but they were cleared to do this exploratory mission. They'd had time to gear up and get ready before embarking...

Andrea held her assault rifle comfortably, resting it in the crook of her arm as she stepped through the Stargate with the others of her team. A few moments later she stepped onto the soil of an alien world and looked around. The forest looked a lot like one on Earth would except the plants were a different shade of green and the leaves were oddly shaped. The sky had a purplish tint to the normal blue, too. The air smelt fresh except for the slight hint of smoke on the gentle breeze that ruffled the branches of the trees. Other than that it was a pleasant sunny day at a comfortable temperature. "Well at least there shouldn't be any giant scorpions here." She remarked cheerfully. During the briefing earlier that morning General Hammond had taken the time to inform them that Colonel O'Neill had been successfully treated by Dr Fraiser and her staff and would make a full recovery, although Andrea imagined he was probably already complaining about having to stay in the infirmary. Personally she took a more tolerant approach, believing that obeying the doctors and only pushing a little generally got her out of there and healed the quickest. She glanced over at Addi after a few moments once everyone had reoriented themselves to their new surroundings. "Do you see anything useful or should we follow the dirt track there?" She asked.

After a short chat with Addi, hopefully it was Addi, Keith went to the rec room to prepare the game while Davies went to freshen up. Then they'd played a rousing shoot 'em up game that had him feeling much better. He then wished her a good night when she got tired and had to get some rest, then he'd played single player after everyone else went to bed. He got incredibly bored during the night hours when everyone but the guards slept, and he usually just played one game or another till morning.

After the briefing the next day, where they were introduced to Michaela, their new archaeologist. He found it ironic that he would be the only male on the team, surrounded by pretty women, and he couldn't have any of them. His whole future had changed because of his parasite and the most important part of it, the part about having his own family, would only be an unfulfilled wish as he did not want to burden any child of his with having to take a parasite when they hit their adolescence just to continue to live. He really resented that part of his life being taken away from him and he would give up the extra strength, agility, stamina and perfect health if he could have that back. But he couldn't , every seven years he would have to find a parasite somehow to replace the adult one, something he wasn't sure how he was going to accomplish.

He stepped out of the gate and kept an eye out while they waited to see which way that Addi would lead them. Just because there wouldn't be any giant insects to fight didn't mean there wasn't any danger about.

Eva had a really good time with Keith when they played their game and they'd even gotten themselves a bit of an audience with some of the other soldiers scattered about the rec room. Keith had been so absorbed in the game that he hadn't really noticed, he just continued to shoot up bad guys until she couldn't stay up any longer, then he presumably kept it up after everyone went to bed, just to have something to do while everyone else but the night guards went to bed. After the briefing, where they received their new orders and met their archaeologist, Michaela, she went to check on Colonel O'Neill. She was glad to see that he was improving with the treatment that Dr. Fraiser had devised, and she knew he'd start getting cranky by the next day when they went off on their mission. She was slightly taken aback by the way that Major Carter's young aide was snuggled up to him in the bed, but she didn't say anything since Dr. Fraiser seemed to not mind. "How very odd." She thought to herself as she left the infirmary and went about her day.

Now she was on the other side of the gate and looking about a world almost, but not quite, like Earth. She found the lavender sky very pretty and the trees interesting. She waited to see which way their new tracker/scout decided they needed to go.

The two days before their mission, Addi spent the time relaxing and helping in the communications room. She enjoyed working with the high-tech equipment, monitoring data from space and the off-world teams. She trusted Takari with whatever information they learned, just as Takari trusted her with the secrets she had learned during any time spent with the Tok'ra. They had no choice really, and each would stop the other from revealing what they shouldn't...they both had that control over Addi's body and mind.

That first night there hadn't been any games after dinner with everyone going their own way. Keith had been polite to her and had at least smiled but hadn't said much. She'd agreed with him, it had been awhile.

During their briefing for this mission, Addi had been pleased to meet Dr. Kenyon, their newest member. Takari had found the doctor interesting to talk to as well.

Addi nodded at Andrea and stepped away from the team, excusing herself past Michaela and Keith. Walking down the steps of the stargate, Addi hoisted her assault rifle over her shoulder and scanned the area around them. She listened carefully but heard nothing unusual, then began to see the smallest details. Faint drag marks and uneven footprints. Addi walked a few yards down the dirt path then paused and held up a hand when she spotted the broken branches and still crushed wild grass.

"Over here," she called out. "Someone's come through in the last couple of days, dragging something away from not toward the stargate. The footprints are offset, though. Whoever it was might have been just been tired, or even hurt," Addi commented, looking at Eva. "They went that way toward the water."

Through the trees a faint sound of water fowl could be heard, which meant probably a lake. "I think we should check that out first, Major," Addi said. "If someone is close by, we ought to know."

When Andrea nodded, Addi took a few steps and pushed through the brush and hanging branches, her gun pointed ahead of her. Dressed in the usual woodland BDU's and equipment, she turned her hat backward and also drew her combat knife from its sheath at her waist. The thick trees were no place to be firing off a gun if it could be helped, at least not close up. Hearing the others behind her, Addi made a trail until she reached a clearing. Peering through the trees at the lakeshore, Addi motioned the Major to have a look.

OOC: Hope I didn't go too far!!

Andrea followed behind Addi/Takari as she lead the group a short distance through the woods to the shore of a lake. From time to time Andrea herself could see the tracks left in the dirt but following the trail would have been much more difficult than it apparently was for Addi. When they stopped and the tracker indicated for her to look it took Andrea a few moments to spot what Addi was pointing at. A small tent coloured in a mixture of dull greys, greens and browns tucked away in the undergrowth of some thick bushes. It was well concealed. If the tracks hadn't lead Addi to it one could have passed through the clearing a dozen times and never noticed. "Good job." Andrea said approvingly as she slung her P-90 across her shoulders and exhanged it for the pistol strapped at her waist. She weighed the options for a moment then spoke in a low voice. "We'll have to check it out. Its clearly too advanced for the locals and its not of Goa'uld design. Keep an eye out in case the occupant isn't actually inside at the moment." With that, Andrea eased forward over to the tent and very carefully unzipped one of the flaps and opened it with the tip of her gun then peered inside. "There's a person in there." She said quietly, indicating for Eva to take a closer look.

Eva followed behind Andrea and Addi while Addi led them through the forest. They had only traveled a short distance before they came upon the shore of a lake. Eva looked in the direction that Addi pointed and had to look again before she saw the camouflaged tent hidden in the bushy undergrowth. When Andrea insisted on checking it out since it was clearly not original to the planet, she went over and unzipped a flap and looked inside, then motioned Eva over. Eva went over quietly and peered inside. She saw a female, definitely humanoid, but not human, not with the spots running down the side of her face and neck and disappearing into her clothing. Keeping her voice down, she glanced over at their leader. "She appears to be sleeping, but she also looks kind of pale." She said. "She may be ill, or it could be her natural skin tone since she's obviously alien, even to this world."

Keith followed the little group down the trail that Addi was leading them down, keeping an eye and ear out for any danger that might be nearby. He could see the faint impressions himself and he thought to himself that they were on the small side, maybe from a small male or a female. When they stopped in the clearing, it took him a moment to see the well-camouflaged tent in the bushes and he could tell it was more advanced than the natives would have, which meant whoever it was, wasn't from here. He assumed a guard position while Andrea and Eva went over to check it out and he hear them discussing a she inside the tent who might be ill. Well, that wasn't good, if it was true. What would an ill alien female be doing away from her planet of origin?

Nayette stirred, waking abruptly from a nightmare when she heard voices. At first she thought it was just a part of her dream but as she became aware of her surroundings she quickly realised the voices weren't imaginary. Her eyess snapped open and she looked towards the entrance of the tent where two females in military-type clothing were looking in. They weren't Drasnian-they didn't have the spots. Who were they? Nayette sat up and fumbled for her gun, regretting getting up so fast as she felt dizzy and lightheaded. She squinted at them warily. "Who are you? What are you doing here?" She asked.

Eva was startled when the woman in the tent woke abruptly, then tried to pull a gun, all the while asking them who they were. She definitely looked ill, or exhausted, or something. She held up her hands in a show of non-hostility and spoke in her best bedside manner. "Hey, easy there, friend, we aren't going to hurt you." She said. "We're explorers and we found your tent, is all. I'm Lieutenant Eva Davies, we come from Earth through the stargate."

Andrea reacted to the alien woman waking up and reaching for her gun by taking a step back and aiming her own weapon- which she quickly lowered when she realised the alien was too unwell to be able to aim straight. She wondered what she was doing alone and unwell on a planet that was as foreign to her as it was to Andrea. "I'm Major Andrea Tamell, behind me are Lieutenants Keith Weber and Addison Mei Ling Parker and her Tok'ra symbiote Takari, and Dr Michela Kenyon." She introduced herself and the others. "As Lieutenant Davies said we're peaceful explorers from the planet Earth. And you are?" She enquired as she watched the alien female peer around them to look at the others.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nayette lowered her gun when the aliens introduced themselves and rested it on her knee. It made sense that they weren't natives given their clothing, equipment and weapons. It seemed like Earth could be another technologically developed society like Drasnia. Perhaps... The thought was incomplete in her mind. It was difficult to think. When the blonde one mentioned and introduced others she peered around her to get a look at them. It was then she sensed the presence of a Goa'uld in one of them if not two and she tensed warily. "I'm... Nayette." She answered Andrea. "Formerly of Drasnia." Bitterness tinged her voice as she spoke the name of her former homeworld. "Are you aware one if not two of your people are infested by Goa'uld?" She asked.
"Are you aware one if not two of your people are infested by Goa'uld?"
Eva glanced around at Keith and Addi before looking at Nayette again. The young Drasnian could only know that if she was, or had been, infested herself. Considering the welcome they got she would bet on formerly infested, though how she rid herself of the parasite Eva would never know. "Well, actually, Lieutenant Parker has a Tok'ra and Lieutenant Weber was forcibly converted to a Jaffa three years ago. Neither of them will hurt you, I promise." She said. "But you, you're ill. Is there anything I can do for you? I'm a trained field medic."
Keith sighed as he listened to the conversation between the women at the tent. Yeah, infested was about the right word for what happened to him, but Addi had chosen to take the Tok'ra rather than die. He couldn't blame her, but it still didn't mean he trusted it, not yet. Best he could do was ignore it for the time being, as long as it let him interact with Addi.
Nayette watched Eva, blinking occasionally as she absorbed the information. She didn't know what a Tok'ra was-what she did know is that it had the same... presence as the one that had infested her. She made a face as she remembered. Weeks of that thing controlling her body, pretending to be her and fooling everyone. Nobody saw her silently screaming from behind her own eyes. Not until Sashat had committed atrocities-killing, stealing and torturing in her attempt to get to the Stargate. Then everyone knew. Or so she'd thought. No, then they'd chosen to believe the government when they were told she'd gone insane and done those things herself. "I doubt it." She said tiredly. "The government people used an experimental radiation biogeneic therapy to kill the Goa'uld I was infested with, then exiled me here after treating me for the radiation. I'll recover, but only in time." She explained. "They rather cast me out than admit publically that a Goa'uld made it to Drasnia."
"So that's why you don't have a Goa'uld anymore." Eva said, opening her pack. "I have some nutritional IVs in here, they'll make you feel better faster." She offered, pulling one of them out. She tried not to move too quickly, she didn't want to spook the frightened young woman any more than necessary. So, the parasite made her do awful thing, she guessed, and instead of telling the truth, the government covered it up and kicked her out, not even giving her time to fully recover, if she didn't miss her guess. Several days in the infirmary with Dr. Fraiser would do her a world of good too.
Addi felt Takari fume for a few moments when she was referred to as a Goa'uld but she calmed the symbiote down with an internal 'discussion'. The woman who called herself Nayette hadn't known, Addi reasoned, and from the sounds of things had been taken over by a Goa'uld herself. That would make anyone suspicious and afraid.
At ease but holding her P-90 at her side and ready, Addi stepped closer to the tent as Eva gave Nayette the nutritional IV. "Please don't be afraid," she said, her voice gentle. "You can call me Addi. The symbiote within me and I, well, we chose each other in a way when I was dying and her previous host was dying, it's not at all like the Goa'uld." Addi was trying to make the woman understand so she wouldn't be afraid. "It's a miracle your people rid you of that parasite you carried, but I'm sorry they exiled you for what wasn't your fault."
Suddenly Addi closed her eyes. When they opened after a blink, Takari added, "I am Takari. I am Tok'ra...we oppose the System Lords and all Goa'uld. They are our enemy," she said firmly. "I am sorry you were subjected to such horrors. Please believe you can trust these people from Earth." Then Takari asked, "Which Goa'uld has died, can you tell me...us?"
"Please," Addi added. "It's...it's important for the Tok'ra to know when a Goa'uld or System Lord has been killed."
Nayette watched what Eva got out of her pack and relaxed a little. She was familiar with the technology as her people had something similar for hospitalized patients. The notion that it could be laced with a drug or toxing occurred to her but she internally dismissed it. She was outnumbered and outgunned if it came to a fight. She decided if they really wanted to hurt her or capture her they would have done so already. She was tired and isolated so she decided to take a chance and trust that they were telling the truth. "All right, go ahead." She agreed to Eva and slid her gun out of her immediate reach. She wasn't sure whether to believe Takari/Addi-she'd had a lot of experience with her Goa'uld tricking everyone around her.
This one could be pretending to let it's host speak. But it hadn't attacked her and seemed content with its current host so she decided the threat was probably minimal even if it was lying. "The Goa'uld's name was Seshat." Nayette answered after a few moments. "The memories indicated that she was a minor System Lord before she got into a conflict with Bastet. She was losing the conflict and was extracted from her host and put in stasis. I guess one of the Drasnian exploration teams found where Bastet put her and brought it home." She shrugged. "I was one of the researchers testing offworld technology and she infested me when I broke the seal holding her in stasis." She told them.
"Seshat," Addi repeated, as Takari was content to listen for now. "Thank you, Nayette, for the information. The Tok'ra knew that Seshat lost the conflict with Bastet, who absorbed her Jaffa forces, about a year ago. But now this knowledge of Seshat's death prevents her from being a problem ever again. She was nothing if not ambitious and merciless."
Through Takari, Addi now had the immense Tok'ra knowledge that had been passed through genetic memory. But since they'd been out of the Goa'uld gene pool for more than 2,000 years, they were constantly on the alert for any information they could use in their war.
Addi moved back to a guard position with Keith to allow Eva to do her work.
Eva smiled, then sat down and scooted closer to Nayette when she offered her arm for the IV. She then inserted it as smoothly as she could and taped it down. "Our infirmary is very comfortable." She said. "If you're exiled, then I'm sure you'll be welcomed on Earth." She glanced up at Andrea then. "She needs several more days of rest and looking after and it won't happen in this tent. She can barely feed herself right now."
Keith offered up a faint smile to Addi when she moved back to let Eva do her work. He felt badly for the alien female being exiled for something that wasn't her fault. Technically, it was theirs for bringing the stasis post back for her to study. He hoped that she would agree to going back, she couldn't defend herself from a child at the moment, much less any other danger that might lurk out there.
Andrea had been observing for a little while to watch Nayette and how the team interacted with her although her own expression showed little of what she was thinking as Eva gave the alien an IV before requesting she be brought back to Earth for proper medical treatment. She didn't see any immediate reason why not. Nayette didn't pose a security risk and could prove useful in both providing information and potentially working as part of the science team at the SGC. She'd been cooperative so far when Addi/Takari had asked questions about Seshat. "Do you agree to this?" She asked Nayette. "Yeah." The reply was subdued and quiet.
"All right." Andrea nodded. "We'll take her back to Earth then resume our mission. Weber, Parker, take flanking positions to watch for danger. Davies and I will help carry her while Dr Kenyon can carry the kit." She helped move Nayette out of the tent to a dry patch of ground nearby and assisted her team with taking down the tent and dismantling the campsite. Once that was complete Andrea supported Nayette's left side while Eva supported her right hand side. The trip back to the gate was as quiet and uneventful as the trip from it. Once they arrived she used her free hand to dial the address back to Earth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nayette didn't resist when the humans from Earth moved her about, packed up her stuff then helped move her to the Stargate. Between them they practically carried her the short distance to the gate. Nayette tried to help where she could by trying to walk but even supporting most of her weight they got her to the gate quicker than she could walk on her own. She was hoping that she'd made the right decision by choosing to trust them and go with them to their homeworld but she knew she didn't have a lot of options. Even if she'd gotten better on her own she didn't know enough about the rest of the galaxy to successfully find a safe place to settle down. She didnt know many gate addresses. Maybe, just maybe these people were advanced enough to put her skills as a scientist to good use-if they'd let her stay beyond her recovery. She sighed a little as Andrea dialled the gate. For now she'd just have to focus on getting better.
