Once it had been decided that Addi-Takari and Ryan-Vyril would stay behind, Eva took her normal position next to Nayette once Kristen started leading them to the village. She had grabbed some water and snacks just in case and put them in her backpack along with extra clips for her gun. She had no idea what they would encounter so she stayed alert and while they walked. She hoped this mission would go off without a hitch, but she wanted to be prepared just in case it didn't.

Keith took the rear guard again when Kristen started leading them to the village where the rebel Jaffa were staying. He wasn't sure what to expect, but he kept a wary eye out while they walked. A lot could happen in two hours there and back, and he wanted to be prepared. Still, he couldn't help but glance at Kristen once in awhile and admire her form from the back. He had a feeling that sparring with her would be an adventure, and he hoped she'd have the time to at least give him one session once this mission was over.

The trek to the village of Frey'si was largely uneventful. They bypassed several Jaffa patrols by hiding in the bushes or up in trees each time and thus evaded detection. The binary suns and a cloudless sky kept the temperature warm but comfortable as they travelled in easy stages to the village. Finally they reached the village and Kristen took them to the top of a small hill that enabled them to overlook the village and observe the inhabitants. Andrea lay on her stomach on the top of the hill with the rest of her team using binoculars to study the village. "How do we tell which ones are the rebel Jaffa?" She asked. "I know their identities so I point them out to you." Replied Kristen "See the female in unmarked chainmail armour with light brown hair on her way to collect water from the well? That's one of the rebels. So is the youth lounging against the wall near the edge of the village." Andrea considered. "The youth is closest to us and not within sight of the other Jaffa." She wondered if he was out of sight of the other Jaffa because he was trying to skip school or some duty he'd been assigned. Either way he seemed like the best bet. "All right. Perhaps Keith should talk to him first, being biologically Jaffa himself." She looked over at him. "Want to try?" She asked.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nayette also lay on her stomach atop the hill with the rest of SG-2 and Kristen. Naturally she was laid out next to Eva since she seldom left the side of her best friend when they were offworld or on missions. Although the young Drasnian was experienced in doing missions now and had her own self defence and firearms training she still preferred the feeling of safety she got by remaining close to Eva or Andrea. She listened while the Major and the 00 identified two of the villagers that were rebel Jaffa and decided that Keith should try talking to a youth who was apparently trying to skip school or work. "Good luck." She said quietly to Keith.
Keith walked with the others, keeping to the rear of the bunch and hiding whenever there was any sign of a Jaffa patrol. He was relieved when they topped a hill and all got down on their bellies to observe the village while Kristen pointed out a couple of the rebels that she was aware of. When Andrea asked him to give talking to the truant youth he nodded and stood, then he made his way silently towards him, keeping to the trees and out of sight until he could approach the youth without being spotted. Then he made sure that the youth could see that his hands as he approached and that his manner wasn't threatening him in any way. "Hi there." He greeted, keeping his voice friendly. "I hear you aren't happy with Bastet."
Eva was relieved when they made it to the hill overlooking the village without incident, even though they had to hide from several Jaffa patrols. Now, she was lying on her stomach and observing the Jaffa and Krsiten was showing them which were rebels as far as she knew and Keith was going down to talk to one of them. She stayed close to Nayette out of habit, being accustomed to protecting her friend, even when she could protect herself by now. She watched as Keith approached in as non-threatening a manner as he could manage and hoped the youth would think first and act second.
Rhathe was surprised when a big male Jaffa dressed in strange clothing, armed with strange weapons emerged from the trees and greeted him, saying he'd heard that he didn't like Bastet. Rhathe was seventeen years old, subtly muscular and an apprentice warrior. He didn't know quite what to make of this new strange Jaffa before him but since he was trying to be friendly and keeping his hands away from his weapon the young truant nodded. Indeed he was playing truant from classes he had to attend regarding his 'Goddess' that the elders wanted him to become a warrior in the service of. "You heard right." Rhathe responded to the strange Jaffa. "Her stupid laws meant that my Grandma was executed yesterday because she'd become too feeble to remain a warrior." Resentment filled his tone. "She was centuries old and had served for decades! She was otherwise perfectly healthy! She still could have been a teacher or something." Rhathe had loved his grandmother deeply. His stupid teachers still wanted him to show how much he loved his 'Goddess' by attending lecturers after her death. "Bastet is no goddess." He added with the blunth rashness of youth and anger.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Catherine was a little surprised the young truant Jaffa so openly declared his dislike for Bastet. Then the way he told Keith about how his grandmother had been executed for being too feeble to remain a warrior anymore. She frowned a little. If the kid was playing truant from something the day after a beloved relative had died she had to admit there was something wrong with that. He should have been given time to grieve. Now he was angry and confused enough to be spouting opinions to a complete stranger that would get him killed. Fortunately Keith was not loyal to Bastet. "Poor kid." Cath muttered to the rest of her team lying on their bellies either side of her. "No wonder they want to rebel." She only found it surprising that only one world of Bastet's empire was rebelling over such a harsh and uncaring law system.

Keith folded his arms as he listened to the young Jaffa rant, ending by saying that Bastet was no Goddess. "You're right there." He said. "None of them are Gods or Goddesses. They just think they are." He felt really badly for the youth, having his grandmother executed for being aged. He couldn't even imagine having that happen to his grandmother, whom he loved dearly. "Maybe you can help me. I'm here with some friends and our mission is to assassinate Bastet. My name is Keith, by the way. Keith Weber."

"Oh that poor boy." Eva whispered as she listened to the conversation. She would never think to execute her grandmother just for being old. And from the way he talked, she wasn't feeble at all, just not able to be a warrior anymore. "Now I want to stick a knife in that parasite's head." She had never felt this angry at anything before, except maybe after they found Nayette and she told them that her own government had exiled her for things Seshat did.

Rhathe blinked several times when Keith introduced himself and announced that he and his friends wanted to assassinate Bastet. He couldn't decide the reason as to why this particular Jaffa was dressed and armed so strangely. No normal Jaffa ever wore such things. "How could I help you with that?" He asked in disbelief.

"Well, I work for the Tau'ri Stargate Command." Keith said, leaning against a nearby tree. "Bastet doesn't like my commanding officer very much. In fact, if she was to hear that Major Andrea Tamell was on this planet she'll probably break all speed records getting down here to see for herself. If you could maybe let that slip in casual conversation around some of her loyal Jaffa, that might get the word to her pretty quickly."

"Tau'ri?" Rhathe studied Keith for a few moments, taking in his strange weapons and clothing anew then nodded. "We heard of you. We're supposed to capture any Tau'ri we see. Especially one from SG-2." He smiled. "Most especially Major Tamell. Any Jaffa that turns her in is meant to get a nice house and stuff for life if they bring her in. I don't get it though. She's just a human female." Rhathe thought for a moment then shrugged. "I think you should meet master Pleof though. He sort of leads up those who don't like Bastet." He consdered. "You and the other Tau'ri. You didn't come here alone did you?" He asked.

"No, I'm not here alone." Keith said to Rhathe. "We just thought it would be best if only one of us approached you rather than all of us. The others are back that way." He pointed in the direction he'd come from, then regarded Rhathe and smiled. "You'd be surprised what humans can be capable of when they're fighting for their lives." He told the young Jaffa. "Major Tamell is especially fond of using explosives."

When Keith mentioned her by name Andrea stepped out of hiding, as did Nayette and Kristen. She saw Rhathe's eyes widen as he took in her appearance. A look of hope, excitement and awe crossed his face. "It is the Major Tamell." He exclaimed. "You must meet master Pleof-he leads the group of us who no longer bow down to Bastet. He may welcome the help of the Tau'ri. My name is Rhathe by the way." Andrea smiled as she kept her hands away from her weapons as she walked closer. "Pleased to meet you. If we have the common goal of both wanting to kill Bastet then we stand a better chance of succeeding if we work together. I'd like very much to meet master Pleof." Rhathe looked around then nodded. "I'll take you around the fields then. You shouldn't be spotted that way." He said even as he began leading them down a narrow muddy path.

Eva stepped out of hiding beside Nayette and smiled as a look of hope crossed the young Jaffa's face when he saw Andrea. He then started leading them down a narrow path that he said would keep them from being spotted as they went to see master Pleof. So far, things had been going right and she hoped they stayed that way. She continued to look around warily as they walked, just to be sure they weren't spotted. The last thing they needed to do was get captured by Bastet.

Keith was relieved when the young Jaffa decided to trust them and take them to master Pleof. Now all they needed to do was lure Bastet down before she started sending down armies of her Jaffa to soften up the resistance before it had a chance to get off the ground. Hopefully they'd be able to complete their mission and the resistance wouldn't have to worry about Bastet anymore. He walked with Rhathe as he led them down the muddy path and kept an eye out for any trouble while they walked.

Having remained at Kristen's base camp in the cave, Michaela crouched just inside the entrance-- out of sight, but able to get a view of the trail by leaning slightly forward.  Kristen had suggested that she remain behind with Addi-Takari and Ryan-Vyril, since she would not be needed at this first meeting with the rebels.  She wasn't sure if she was disappointed or relieved, but she was certainly concerned that Kristen considered her a weak link. True, she wasn't as experienced as the others, but she felt that she had come a long way in the past few months.  She was concerned that Kristen had reviewed all their files and now lacked confidence in her because of it.

Rhathe led SG-2 into a big barn at the back of a nearby farm. It was musty and filled with hay. Horses were in their stalls but there were no workers in sight currently. The youth led them to the the back of the barn where a group of Jaffa of all ages were sitting on bales in a loose circle, deep in conversation. As one they looked up and hands reached for weapons. "It's okay!" Rhathe called out. "These are Tau'ri here to assassinate Bastet. Their goals are ours." An aging male Jaffa with grey hair and sharp dark green eyes turned to regard them. "Pleoff, they could help." He entreated. Andrea held her hands up away from her weapons. "I am Major Andrea Tamell, leader of SG-2 of the Tau'ri. We heard of your rebellion and hoped to work together in our common goal of killing Bastet." She told the truth. Pleoff thought about it for a few moments then lowered his staff weapon, motioning for the other male and female Jaffa with him to relax. "Major Tamell? You're bold to come here given the price our false god put on your head. She was quite attached to her former First Prime who had served her personally for longer than any other. I am master Pleoff. I lead the rebellion. We would welcome any help that you could provide." He studied Keith."And you must be the Tau'ri-made-Jaffa." He mused.

Timejump: The following day.

Time Stamp: 13:45

Since Keith had shown absolutely no interest in talking with one of his kind about being a jaffa, Andrea had gotten on with the meeting. Given the reputation of herself and SG-2 it had taken little effort to persuade master Pleoff and his rebel Jaffa to accept their help. Overall they had about a hundred and fifty Jaffa willing to fight against Bastet and Pleoff was certain that many more Jaffa on Kellos would rise up and join in once a first bold move was made against Bastet. Most of the Jaffa were upset and fed up with her harsh rules. A spark was needed to ignite them. And so upon Andrea's suggestion, Pleoff had Rhathe go about the village and start spreading rumours with those Jaffa still loyal to Bastet that she and SG-2 were on the planet, hinting that the rebellion and dissent was being sown by the Tau'ri infiltrators. As a senior Jaffa and a trainer of her warriors, Bastet would want to meet with Pleoff herself when she arrived and that provided the perfect opportunity for an ambush. Kristen was confident that she could use her sniper rifle to take Bastet out. It was a specially modified one with a slow-enough moving bullet to penetrate her personal shield. If she failed the rest of SG-2 and some rebel Jaffa would be nearby to do it far more violently.

Finally with the plans made, Pleoff had offered SG-2 the chance to stay in his house and enjoy some jaffa hospitality. With some reluctance Andrea had agreed. Pleoff had even agreed to house the Tok'ra and allow them to participate on the mission so long as SG-2 kept them on a 'short leash.' Kristen had returned to camp and brought Addi-Takari, Ryan-Vyril and Michaela to Pleoff's large, extensive mansion that he enjoyed for being a senior Jaffa. They'd been shown to guest rooms and had enjoyed a quiet, comfortable night. In the morning they'd had breakfast and begun preparations for the impending arrival of Bastet...

Andrea stood on a small balcony on the first floor of Pleoff's house, carefully hidden from the lines of Jaffa in formation around the well in the middle of the village where Bastet would meet with Pleoff and several other senior Jaffa within the village. There was a quick and easy way down the stairs and out of the house for her and her team to get outside should Kristen fail in sniping her from a rooftop across the street. She couldn't see the redhaired 00 agent from her position but she was certain she was out there and lying in wait. Either side of Andrea were Nayetta, Eva, Keith, Michaela and the two Tok'ra, Addi-Takari and Ryan-Vyril. After a long wait she finally heard the sounds of ship engines indicating that Bastet's transport ship was arriving from orbit. She looked around and smiled darkly when she spotted the ship flying down through the atmosphere and it landed in a field just outside of the village. She nodded. It wouldn't be long now.

Eva stayed protectively near Nayette as the team stayed hidden on the balcony at Pleoff's house, watching as Bastet's transport was coming in for a landing. If Kristen managed to kill her, it would be a boost for all Jaffa to rebel from their false gods. She fervently hoped that, one way or another, Bastet would be killed. She found herself gripping her weapon tighter as the ship came in to land. It wouldn't be long now.

Keith crouched down on the balcony where the team was hiding while Bastet's transport came down so she could meet with Pleoff. He really hoped that Kristen found her mark, because if she didn't, then trying to kill the very powerful Goa'uld would be twice as hard because they wouldn't have surprise on their side. He watched as the transport eased down to land and he kept his weapon ready just in case. He really hoped that they succeeded in this, getting rid of one System Lord would send a message all around that they weren't as 'godlike' as they claimed to be and more Jaffa would rebel, cutting down the shock troops they liked to use when conquering or 'disciplining' a world.

Nervously hiding in the shadows of the balcony, Michaela gripped her large caliber, reduced-recoil handgun.  She hadn't gotten as much sleep last night as she hoped, although the room she was given was certainly more comfortable than the cave would have been.  She just couldn't help but worry that the story of the rebel Jaffa had been planted as a lure and a trap, and that as soon as they let their guard down they would be captured or killed.  But the night had passed without incident and Bastet was about to arrive-- it looked like they would really have their chance!

After a few minutes, finally a formation of Jaffa honour guard marched into the main road into the village, pushing back normal Jaffa and making way for their 'goddess.' Andrea finally got a look at Bastet as the Goa'uld approached in the middle of the path made for her. She was dressed in a light blue robe, heavily jewelled and wearing gold bands. She was asiatic in descent with thick black hair and heavy makeup on her face. Her host seemed to be in her late thirties. She walked with an imperious nature and her eyes were cold and contemptuous as she looked over her subjects. She approached Pleoff and studied him disdainfully. "Has the female Tau'ri been captured yet?" He didn't get to answer for those were her last words. Nobody heard the shot that ended her life as Kristen fired a bullet at a slow enough speed to pass through her protective shield. Her aim was good as the bullet pierced Bastet's heart. There was a moment of dreadful silence after the Goa'uld collapsed to the ground, then howls of rage as the honour Guards started attacking the villagers-who fought back. "Our turn." Andrea muttered to her team as she set off the C4  they'd set around the village. The explosions killed off many of the honour guard. She grinned as she then unslung her assault rifle and fired upon the Goa'uld loyal to the former Bastet.

Keith waited in hiding on the large balcony and watched Bastet march imperiously into the middle of the village. As a woman she was gorgeous, but underneath she was a monster and Keith couldn't help the flicker of hatred that crossed his face when she marched her way up to Pleoff and demanded to know if Andrea had been captured yet. When she crumpled dead from the well-placed bullet in her heart, he couldn't help but admire Kristen's accuracy. He definitely wouldn't want to be on her hit list, he decided, because he wouldn't live for very long.

When the loyal Jaffa began attacking the others without even trying to figure out who was behind the attack, and after Andrea set off the explosives, he started shooting the Jaffa who had come down with Bastet.

Eva watched and waited after the transport came down and then Bastet in all her glory strode into the village. She would be gorgeous if one didn't notice the absolutely cold, dead gaze that she sported, a testament to her policy of executing anyone who wasn't performing to her standards. Eva felt a small sense of satisfaction when  Bastet crumpled with barely a sound, proving how mortal she actually was, and then Eva started shooting at any of the guards who hadn't been obliterated by Andrea's fire display.

A split second after Bastet asked if Andrea had been captured, a look of surprise appeared on her face and she crumpled to the ground, dead. Michaela gasped, even though she had been expecting it-- perhaps she didn't really believe it would be so easy.

But it wasn't over yet.  The Jaffa guards went berserk at the death of their goddess and began inflicting wholesale slaughter upon the villagers, even after the C4 charges had decimated their ranks.  Michaela looked down and saw a Jaffa raise his staff to obliterate a family-- a mom and dad and two young kids-- who were too scared to flee. She quickly aimed her gun, steadying it with her artificial left hand, and fired.  The bullet struck the Jaffa in the back of the head and he spasmed once before collapsing.

The family looked up at Michaela, bewildered, and she waved them away from the scene of battle.  "Run!" she cried.  "Run away!"  And, to her relief, they finally got their wits about them and fled into the forest.

Andrea caught a brief glimpse of Addi-Takari nestled at the corner of the balcony with her P-90 picking off Goa'uld from a vantage point. Then her attention was taken up by the angry Jaffa going berserk as they assumed that the villagers were complicit and cooperative with the assassin and wanted revenge for the death of their 'goddess.' That's what her team was there for. She shot several Jaffa with a hails of bullets from her P-90, pausing only to reload. She was aware that Nayette was using her pistol to pick off Jaffa that tried to come up the stairs onto the balcony. She wasn't sure how long the scientist could keep it clear of Jaffa before SG-2 would be forced to fight in hand to hand combat. Typically Nayette was shoulder-to-shoulder with Eva. Andrea was mildly impressed that the Jaffa had not panicked en-masse when explosions had taken a of them out from all directions. She wondered if the System Lords had been teaching their Jaffa about her tactics and explosive tendancies. Then the thoughts were swept away as Jaffa started getting past Nayette's bullet screen. She drew a long bladed survival knife and waited for them to get close.
