Keith took the rear guard again when Kristen started leading them to the village where the rebel Jaffa were staying. He wasn't sure what to expect, but he kept a wary eye out while they walked. A lot could happen in two hours there and back, and he wanted to be prepared. Still, he couldn't help but glance at Kristen once in awhile and admire her form from the back. He had a feeling that sparring with her would be an adventure, and he hoped she'd have the time to at least give him one session once this mission was over.

Nayette also lay on her stomach atop the hill with the rest of SG-2 and Kristen. Naturally she was laid out next to Eva since she seldom left the side of her best friend when they were offworld or on missions. Although the young Drasnian was experienced in doing missions now and had her own self defence and firearms training she still preferred the feeling of safety she got by remaining close to Eva or Andrea. She listened while the Major and the 00 identified two of the villagers that were rebel Jaffa and decided that Keith should try talking to a youth who was apparently trying to skip school or work. "Good luck." She said quietly to Keith.

Eva was relieved when they made it to the hill overlooking the village without incident, even though they had to hide from several Jaffa patrols. Now, she was lying on her stomach and observing the Jaffa and Krsiten was showing them which were rebels as far as she knew and Keith was going down to talk to one of them. She stayed close to Nayette out of habit, being accustomed to protecting her friend, even when she could protect herself by now. She watched as Keith approached in as non-threatening a manner as he could manage and hoped the youth would think first and act second.

Catherine was a little surprised the young truant Jaffa so openly declared his dislike for Bastet. Then the way he told Keith about how his grandmother had been executed for being too feeble to remain a warrior anymore. She frowned a little. If the kid was playing truant from something the day after a beloved relative had died she had to admit there was something wrong with that. He should have been given time to grieve. Now he was angry and confused enough to be spouting opinions to a complete stranger that would get him killed. Fortunately Keith was not loyal to Bastet. "Poor kid." Cath muttered to the rest of her team lying on their bellies either side of her. "No wonder they want to rebel." She only found it surprising that only one world of Bastet's empire was rebelling over such a harsh and uncaring law system.

"Oh that poor boy." Eva whispered as she listened to the conversation. She would never think to execute her grandmother just for being old. And from the way he talked, she wasn't feeble at all, just not able to be a warrior anymore. "Now I want to stick a knife in that parasite's head." She had never felt this angry at anything before, except maybe after they found Nayette and she told them that her own government had exiled her for things Seshat did.

Keith was relieved when the young Jaffa decided to trust them and take them to master Pleof. Now all they needed to do was lure Bastet down before she started sending down armies of her Jaffa to soften up the resistance before it had a chance to get off the ground. Hopefully they'd be able to complete their mission and the resistance wouldn't have to worry about Bastet anymore. He walked with Rhathe as he led them down the muddy path and kept an eye out for any trouble while they walked.

Since Keith had shown absolutely no interest in talking with one of his kind about being a jaffa, Andrea had gotten on with the meeting. Given the reputation of herself and SG-2 it had taken little effort to persuade master Pleoff and his rebel Jaffa to accept their help. Overall they had about a hundred and fifty Jaffa willing to fight against Bastet and Pleoff was certain that many more Jaffa on Kellos would rise up and join in once a first bold move was made against Bastet. Most of the Jaffa were upset and fed up with her harsh rules. A spark was needed to ignite them. And so upon Andrea's suggestion, Pleoff had Rhathe go about the village and start spreading rumours with those Jaffa still loyal to Bastet that she and SG-2 were on the planet, hinting that the rebellion and dissent was being sown by the Tau'ri infiltrators. As a senior Jaffa and a trainer of her warriors, Bastet would want to meet with Pleoff herself when she arrived and that provided the perfect opportunity for an ambush. Kristen was confident that she could use her sniper rifle to take Bastet out. It was a specially modified one with a slow-enough moving bullet to penetrate her personal shield. If she failed the rest of SG-2 and some rebel Jaffa would be nearby to do it far more violently.
Finally with the plans made, Pleoff had offered SG-2 the chance to stay in his house and enjoy some jaffa hospitality. With some reluctance Andrea had agreed. Pleoff had even agreed to house the Tok'ra and allow them to participate on the mission so long as SG-2 kept them on a 'short leash.' Kristen had returned to camp and brought Addi-Takari, Ryan-Vyril and Michaela to Pleoff's large, extensive mansion that he enjoyed for being a senior Jaffa. They'd been shown to guest rooms and had enjoyed a quiet, comfortable night. In the morning they'd had breakfast and begun preparations for the impending arrival of Bastet...
Andrea stood on a small balcony on the first floor of Pleoff's house, carefully hidden from the lines of Jaffa in formation around the well in the middle of the village where Bastet would meet with Pleoff and several other senior Jaffa within the village. There was a quick and easy way down the stairs and out of the house for her and her team to get outside should Kristen fail in sniping her from a rooftop across the street. She couldn't see the redhaired 00 agent from her position but she was certain she was out there and lying in wait. Either side of Andrea were Nayetta, Eva, Keith, Michaela and the two Tok'ra, Addi-Takari and Ryan-Vyril. After a long wait she finally heard the sounds of ship engines indicating that Bastet's transport ship was arriving from orbit. She looked around and smiled darkly when she spotted the ship flying down through the atmosphere and it landed in a field just outside of the village. She nodded. It wouldn't be long now.

Keith crouched down on the balcony where the team was hiding while Bastet's transport came down so she could meet with Pleoff. He really hoped that Kristen found her mark, because if she didn't, then trying to kill the very powerful Goa'uld would be twice as hard because they wouldn't have surprise on their side. He watched as the transport eased down to land and he kept his weapon ready just in case. He really hoped that they succeeded in this, getting rid of one System Lord would send a message all around that they weren't as 'godlike' as they claimed to be and more Jaffa would rebel, cutting down the shock troops they liked to use when conquering or 'disciplining' a world.

When the loyal Jaffa began attacking the others without even trying to figure out who was behind the attack, and after Andrea set off the explosives, he started shooting the Jaffa who had come down with Bastet.
Eva watched and waited after the transport came down and then Bastet in all her glory strode into the village. She would be gorgeous if one didn't notice the absolutely cold, dead gaze that she sported, a testament to her policy of executing anyone who wasn't performing to her standards. Eva felt a small sense of satisfaction when Bastet crumpled with barely a sound, proving how mortal she actually was, and then Eva started shooting at any of the guards who hadn't been obliterated by Andrea's fire display.

But it wasn't over yet. The Jaffa guards went berserk at the death of their goddess and began inflicting wholesale slaughter upon the villagers, even after the C4 charges had decimated their ranks. Michaela looked down and saw a Jaffa raise his staff to obliterate a family-- a mom and dad and two young kids-- who were too scared to flee. She quickly aimed her gun, steadying it with her artificial left hand, and fired. The bullet struck the Jaffa in the back of the head and he spasmed once before collapsing.
The family looked up at Michaela, bewildered, and she waved them away from the scene of battle. "Run!" she cried. "Run away!" And, to her relief, they finally got their wits about them and fled into the forest.
