I remember a couple of years ago, mom commented that Febreze Air Effects and Fabric Refresher are basically just the same formula in different containers.  Is this true?

Proctor Gamble is very cagey in their material data sheets, but the only things they acknowledge for Febreze Air Effects are ethanol, water and fragrances, while the MSDS for Febreze Fabric Refresher acknowledges other ingredients.

That's not to say there aren't other ingredients in either product, simply that P&G doesn't acknowledge that those ingredients impact material safety (which is not the same thing as user or health safety -- it's more like the details firefighters and clean-up workers might have to worry about) I'd suggest looking at the ingredients on the can itself. I recall that the fabric refresher contained other ingredients, back when I tried it (and when it was discussed among sci nerds), but that 15-20 years ago
