How do people feel about the ruling limiting protections against evidence that cops obtained illegally? Case: Utah v. Strieff

It was a 5-3 decision, so Scalia presence would not have made a difference in this ruling.

I saw a commentator on-line say there are hypocritical people okay with the 4th amendment being trampled on for public safety, but think the 2nd amendment should be inviolable.

ETA: Note, it was Breyer who voted with the conservative-leaning Justices.

Today the court upheld the UT affirmative action program and upheld the NEED for it.

Had Scalia lived, Affirmative Action SURELY would have died. Or been limited to the point of ineffectiveness.

What a country!

I worry about the result of the deadlock on the immigration opinion on the general election.

Yep, the court ruled that it is now legal to discriminate against white people.

Do you not realize how important affirmative action has been for white women - or do you just not care?

I remember reading that ruling in late June. Very happy with that ruling. Someone who has been demonstrated can't be safe with their own fists/etc shouldn't be allowed to own a gun.

From what I have been reading in the news it sounds like the GOP are still planning to obstruct nominees for the USSC,  if they are from a President Clinton, when before they have said before they should wait until the next President to be elected to allow the American electorate to have a say in the USSC.... What, so that they can stubbornly continue to ignore it?

The ultimate irony to that level of obstruction would be to have Justice Thomas choke on a pretzel or something and leave the court looking at 4-3 decisions.
