Catching up on this series, I find myself scrabbling for optimism here.

Nothing important in the spoiler above. It was just an implausible speculation that was fairly soon proven wrong. I was just surprised by how much I wanted to believe it.

The actual explanation was far more plausible and better storytelling.

Well, you can really tell the series in coming to a close.  It's always been dark, but this season is really dark.  I have to admit I love this series so much, I'm OK with the sadness of the episodes.  I think they reflect the sadness of the series end.

Rules for surviving an Autocracy:

Rule#1: Believe the Autocrat.
Rule#2: Do not be taken in by small signs of normality.
Rule#3: Institutions will not save you.
Rule#4: Be outraged.
Rule#5: Don't make compromises.
Rule#6: Remember the future.

I was pretty sure from the outset it was an induced VR simulation. All those brain glitches were a big clue.
Nothing succeeds like excess.

I was pretty sure as well.  Her escape seemed too easy tbh.  However, I thought the fact that she killed herself at the end of each simulation was very fascinating.  Shaw, the good soldier to the end.
