Our self-created certificate (basically a binary identifier used in HTTPS encryption) is as secure as it ever was
Until recently, browser makers only cared that a certificate worked. Now they're trying to push ALL sites to use HTTPS (to make it harder for the NSA to monitor Internet traffic), and since [edit for clarity] our certificate is signed by "The Purple Pouncy Despotism" (see the bottom right of every EI page), they can't be sure it's a trustable cert vs a tool for International Global Domination.
Which, to be fair, it is. Just ask Nikki Peppermint. Or Trance Gemini -- but she'd say "international" is a ridiculous understatement.
UPDATE: EX ISLE IS NOT USING HTTPS FOR THE TIME BEING
This shouldn't affect anyone, because it turns out I turned it off
some years ago, due to some other issue-of-the-week then forgot
We really should be at least allowing it, though -- and we will.
