^ Thanks. I though briefly about starting a new thread but its been a low energy week for me of just going through motions.

I heard a new nickname for the current POTUS though….. SHOTUS…. If one can't figure that out just remember what he called all of Africa ;)

WTFJHT - 2 min read, Day 372: Confrontation.

- Special Council Mueller: It has been reported that Trump tried to fire Mueller in Jun 2017. After receiving the order from Trump, the White House counsel Don McGahn refused to ask the Justice Dept to fire Mueller and said he would resign instead. That made Trump backtrack. At least 8 times since June Trump and his allies have denied that Trump that Trump ever considered firing Mueller. The White House, the White House lawyers, nor Trump's lawyers, have answered requests for comments.
- ICE: Immigration and Custom Enforcement have gained access to a nationwide license plate recognition database, which may allow them the data to track location information in real-time.

Geeze, this is depressing. WaPo: Republicans redone morality as whatever Trump does

And they got a Jan 24th poll to back it up:

Quote

New evidence suggests that the damage he is doing to the culture is bigger than the man. A Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday found that two-thirds of Americans say Trump is not a good role model for children. Every component of society feels that way — men and women, old and young, black and white, highly educated or not — except for one: Republicans. By 72 to 22 percent, they say Trump is a good role model.

In marked contrast to the rest of the country, Republicans also say that Trump shares their values (82 percent) and that — get this — he "provides the United States with moral leadership" (80 percent).

The *only* thing that I can think that they'd possible think is a good trait / good deed is that they see a fighter fighting back against liberals / elites. Is that really the only thing that matters to them anymore? I mean what possibly other good quality that he has, that would make him a good role model? One actually backed up by evidence, so no, his 4-time-bankruptcy business-man skills do not count. And that assumes being a successful business man indicates moral leadership, it does not.

I mean, you go through the 7 deadly sins, and which ones does Trump *not* demonstrate? Or which of the 7 virtues does he demonstrate? None, and none.

WTFJHT - 4 min read, Day 375: Stepping aside.

- Mueller: remains unprotected as Republicans will not advance bills to protect him, or future special counsels.
- FBI Deputy Director: Andrew McCabe is stepping aside, using vacation time ahead of an early retirement in mid-March.
- The Memo: Trump joined regarding releasing The Memo, which contains classified info, and which his own Justice Dept says is a bad idea. It purportedly has information that would purportedly substantiate the Republicans smear of the FBI, the Democrats dispute that.
- Russia Sanctions Deadline: is today, which Trump reluctantly signed into law in August.

WTFJHT - 6 min read, Day 376: Serving as a deterrent.

- Russia sanctions deadline: Trump's WH reasoning for not enforcing the passed-&-signed-into-law sanctions? That the fact that the law is on the books, regardless of whether he enforces it, is deterrent enough.
- State of the Uniom Onion: A dozen Democrats and 5 USSC Justices won't be attending Trump's address, which will be given 9pm ET tonight.
- 2nd Trump-Russa dossier: written by journalist Cody Shearer, was provided to the FBI by Christopher Steele (who created the 1st dossier) in Oct 2016, but Steele warned he couldn't vouch for the contents of that one. FBI is still assessing the details of it.
- Smears against the FBI: House Majority Leader Paul Ryan has called for a "cleanse" of the FBI, in reference to the Dunes-Memo, but warned against using it to discredit Mueller.

WTFJHT - 3 min read, Day 377: Grave concerns.

- Dunes Memo: FBI says it has grave concerns about releasing it, and told John Kelly that it contains inaccurate information and paints a false narrative. Trump is promising to to release the memo, against the judgement of the FBI and Department of Justice.
- Is the Universe trying to tell us something?: A train crashed / hit a truck while carrying member of congress to their legislative retreat in W. Virginia. All present politicians, and their present family members, are reported as unhurt or having only minor injuries. One person reported dead so far, the truck driver. A couple of non-politicians were taken to the local hospital, one in critical condition.

I think maybe the devil sent the trash truck to derail the train and collect all the Congressional GOP souls, and then belatedly discovered that 45 has gathered them up already.

Sorry to see that GOP Representative Trey Gowdy, author of so many shining moments in Congress, will not be seeking re-election this term. As photogenic as he is perhaps he can pursue a career as model for Vaseline commercials after submitting some of his head shots.

The reason the present version of the GOP is so okay with lying is, in a word, religion.

Remember that term "alternative facts"? It must also be remembered that religion is, by definition, a collection of alternative facts. God doesn't exist, Jesus has no historical basis, what you're left with is mountains of "alternative facts".

A modern, well-educated person who can swallow a book of "alternative facts" has left the barn door open for political "alternative facts".

Religion in any form is pure poison, a form of thought-cancer.

Religious people are given to smarmy manipulativeness, from televangelists to politicians. An honest person can't harbour both facts and "alternative facts".

WTFJHT - 3 min read, Day 378: Never get out.

- Never get out: is what Hope Hicks, Trumps communication director, allegedly said regarding the emails involving Trump Jr. and the Jun 2016 Trump Tower meeting where the Russians promised dirt on Clinton. She said this to Trump's legal team spokesman Mark Corallo who said that the statement they were drafting in Jun/Jul 2017 regarding the revelation that there was such a meeting (but not the emails) would backfire when the emails got out. He apparently thought her comment demonstrated naivety and/or intent to obstruct justice. He resigned shortly after. He has an interview with Mueller's team sometime in the next two weeks.
- Dunes Memo: was, according to the top democrat (Adam Schiff) on the House Intelligence Committee that Dunes heads, was altered after the republicans on the committee voted to released it, and before it got to the White House.
- CFPB: Consumer Financial Protection Bureau had an enforcement power taken away.

WTFJHT - 5 min read, Day 379: Disgrace.

- Nunes Memo: Trump approved the release of the Nunes Memo, which contains classified material. The memo didn't prove that the FISA warrant process was abused, nor did it supply all the relevant information supporting the FISA warrant to surveil Carter Page. It did show that the counterintelligence probe into Russia and the Trump campaign started in July2016 by FBI because of George Papadopoulous / Wikileaks / emails.
- State Department: 7/9 of the top jobs are empty.

WTFJHT - 2 min read, Day 382: A total waste of time.

- Senate Bipartisan immigration deal: being introduced by John McCain (R-AZ) and Christopher Coons (D-DE). It does not contain funding for the border wall in the legislation, and the White House is dismissing it.
- CFPB: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau scaled back its Equifax probe. Equifax electronic security was breached last Sep and 143 million American's info was stolen.

The sky is falling . . . the sky is falling . . . well, okay, the markets are falling.

But the reason why is downright despicable. All the financial gurus are unanimously saying that the cause is a reaction to higher wages.

Market filth! I've long said that the markets should be got rid of.

Wonder how Twitler intends to explain this? Is he going to blame minimum-wage workers for asking for a raise?

WTFJHT - 3 min read, Day 383: Total cooperation mode.

- DACA/Dreamers: WH Chief of Staff John Kelly said he doesn't expect Trump to extend the Mar 6 DACA expiration deadline, though does not suspect that they will be priority for deportation.
- "Lengthy" Dem/Schiff Memo: the counter-memo to the Dunes memo is before Trump to approve, or not, for release. John Kelly says Trump hasn't read it yet, telling reporters "it's pretty lengthy". It has been reported to be 10 pages.

WTFJHT - 3 min, Day 384: Marching orders.

- Shut Down? Or not?: The deadline for a budget or *another* continuing resolution is tomorrow evening. A 2 year federal budget was proposed by Senate would increase defence and domestic spending by $315 over 2 years, add $90 billion more in aid for recent disasters, a 4 year CHIP extension (for a total of a 10 year CHIP extension). Includes a provision to suspend the debt limit until after the mid-term elections. Several Republicans oppose it for adding to the federal debt, and some Democrats are opposed to voting on it without a guarantee of a vote on immigration legislation from the House Republican's Leader/Speaker Paul Ryan's, after having "secured" such a promise from the Senate Republican/Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
