I was hoping this would happen eventually but wasn't expecting to see it in my lifetime.

It's long-past time we should stop eating our fellow sentient creatures. I just wish fish and poultry were part of the picture.

Even if it were not an ethical issue (heck, strict Jains and Fruitarians might have even the typical vegetarian/vegan beat there ;) ) it will become an economic and ecological issues soon, if it isn't already. Meat consumption can also be a health issue, the Standard America Diet has too much meats and processed grains and not enough vegetables and fruit.

Will this food be appropriate for our closest most common companion animals, which are obligate or scavenging carnivores? It sounds like it, since they are growing meat, though carnivores may need it specially made. IIRC Cats specifically need taurine in their diet.

And bone. If there's no bone in it, it ain't suitable kitty food.

Same with foxes (fennec pet variety).

Cattle especially take up ginormous tracts of land, and ruin it for agriculture by contaminated crops with fecal matter.

Chicken, turkey, pork plants are all bloody inhumane. The sooner they go the better.

Are you talking about terminating the ecosystem?
You can't kill off any one species and expect to keep everything ticking along as usual.
Everything is dependent on each other, except humans.

Being at the top of the food chain has it's down side.

As for lab invented protein?
Our bodies will take at least a century to recognize it as real food and store it as fat until it can figure out what to do with it.
Just like it does synthetic sweetener, and most GMO products.

People are eating it already, with no ill effects, and are metabolising it without a problem.

I'm talking about nixing the fake "ecosystems" concocted by humans. They're highly destructive and unnatural. Hog barns, chicken ranches, ranches period.
