I am trying to figure out if there is a bias to the gender in the ExIsle factions, and the reasons that members joined the factions.

Because the board will not let me add multiple polls in the same topic, I will have to do this the old fasioned way.

Are you Male or Female?

What factions are you a member in?

What reasons do you have for joining? Was it an attraction to the character or actor/actress? Or was there another reason?

You can only have one poll per thread.

I was mainly a Roman, and still am. And I'm male.

Bekaneers, Wayists, Reverents, Rhadicals.......far too many to name off the top of my head.

I'm guessing that there is a gender bias, simply because liking a character enough to join a faction is often (though certainly not always) based on attraction for the character/actor. Thus Harpies will tend to be female, Trancers will tend to be male, etc...

Of course, I'm a male Tyrant (technically) and not at all attracted to KHC. So there are other reasons for joining, too; but I suspect you'll find that's the predominant one. ;)

You think I should include the Wayists and the Reverants, considering Rev is gone, and apparently the Wayists were never a character faction? I also think if I am going to make 6/7 more threads I should just stick to the main characters.

And yes I suspect what you say is true, and I am a male, and a Harpie, and at one time a Wayist (thinking they were the revenants), I still havent got that one completely straightened out, I just thought that both were awesome characters, as characters.

Hasn't it already been confirmed that there are more women here than men?

And what do you mean by rebalancing?

Is it really necessary to begin a new thread for each faction? I believe that all the information that you require is on TFZ's site pertaining to the factions.

If there are 70% females that join the factions, there will be perhaps 60% female and 40% male in one faction, if you supposed that there were 50% 50% male and female that join the factions, than you would suppose that the faction was dominantly female, but in actuality it was more like 45% female and 55% male in a 50 50 situation.

Statistics, I understand them but cant explain them easially.

I'm failing to see what the percentages of Male vs. Female joining a faction has to do with anything. It's the person's choice to which faction that they choose to join, or whether they choose to join a faction at all. Rebalancing them, to where there was never a balance to begin with, is where I'm drawing my confusion from. To what ends and means to you wish to follow this crusade?

The site does not have information pertaining to the gender of any of the factions... I was hoping that the board would let me just put all the polls in the same thread, oh well. I guess the idea didnt really work.

I just wanted an idea what perscent of the people who join each of the factions were male or female, I was just kindove curious.

Sometimes strange ideas come into my mind, or strange questions for that matter. Mostly questions, then the ideas follow.

Forget I ever posted this, get on with your lives, and I will go and sulk for a while.

Oh Dopn't go sulk, just ask a Beach Mod to alter your title, asking people to please post what factions they belong to and what their gender is if it is not obvious.

You'll have to do the math yourself but hey it's not that hard to tally up a list of responses.

I'm female (hopefully thats obvious) and a Tyrant (honourary), a Roman (full), a Trancer (honourary), a Wayist, and a Gene-ite.

Edited to add (cause I forgot  ) I am the chef for SG1

Please don't take any of my inquiries as offense. I just wanted to grasp what your intentions were, and where it was going was all. It sounds like an interesting task, and I hope you get what you were looking for out of it. :)

Title: What factions do you belong to

sub title: Research in progress, please help

Then edit your first post to explain you are tying to figure out if there is a preference by gender for certain factions. IE is your joing a faction a matter of likeing the character or the actor/ess or other. If other please explain...

Just a suggestion.

I am a Male.

I am a Harpie and a Wayist.

I joined the Harpies because I am a Nerd, Geek, Dork, etc... and thought that the character was cheerfull and amusing, but also inteligent. I joined the wayists (sone thought for some time that I had started the wayists) because I had thought it was connected with the character Rev (a mistake of mine that was not corrected untill some time later), and I thought that it was an interesting character as it was a monster that had no purpouse other than to kill, trying to live in a society where everyone shunned him for what he was with good reason.

Yeah, my appologies, I am not a Beach Mod, so I can't help you with that but if you PM one I am sure they will be glad to fix it for you.
