1. Everyone signed up with the expectation to play on Ex Isle algebraic, so the switch is unfair.
2. The switch was made to make it easier and faster to play.
3. Its Your Turn relies on each player creating an account for free.
4. The rules at Its Your Turn are fairly simple - but they contradict the rules of the Tournament in one instance (giving players 3 days to make a move, the tournament had only 1 day.)
5. Playing at Its Your Turn makes it an "Outside" event, and doesn't allow Ex Islers to look in.
6. Algebraic notation is slow, and requires for everyone to set up a board at home to keep track of things.
7. Currently we have agreed that for each game, the players can decide how to play - on Its Your Turn or on Ex Isle. (Who wins if they can't agree?)
That's all the facts I think... the question is - how do you want to proceed? Are you already playing? (Tourney was to start today).
As I see it - we can do a few things. Leave as is (Point #7), play both concurrently (move on Its Your Move, type move in a separate thread), or choose a method.
What say you all? Please vote AND comment...

It is up to each pair playing to decide how to play.
However: in the interests of keeping things recorded, if someone uses an online venue that automatically records the moves, one person from that game must post this series of moves in the thread, for record keeping.
Stay foolish.

The algebraiac notation will be cumberson, confusing, and bound to lead to misunderstandings. I really don't like it. It will also take a lot longer. For instance, I just made a move against Dromy from the library at school. That's something I couldn't do if I had to to wait until I got home, which won't be for another nine hours or so...
Me: "I have a job and five credit cards and am looking into signing a two year lease. THAT MAKES ME OLD."
Josh: "I don't have a job, I have ONE credit card, I'm stuck in a lease and I'm 28! My mom's basement IS ONE BAD DECISION AWAY!"
~~ Josh, winning the argument.

I'll still go for the original thing. I figure I'll be elimnated early and my ordeal will be over soon.

We could always post a link to our games on the board here... since the site does allow others to view your game
Personally I'd rather use Its Your Turn just because it makes life easier for me... but I'll do either way.. I just need to learn the algerbraic way

Which, btw, is algebraic notation! LOL!
So - if that can be made a bit easier to read? Rov - where can we post? I'm thinking each game should have its own thread, still...

One thing I would point out, though, is that some method of using screencaps and/or viewing It's Your Move games would actually make it easier for Ex Islers to follow the tournamnet, not harder... I doubt casually interested viewers are going to take the time to set up boards and follow our games from the notation...

HM-- Yeah, I think we could still go for a temp forum, if needbe.

And what if they don't want to? This is an Ex Isle tournament, not an ItsYourTurn.com tournament, and I don't like the idea of telling Ex Islers that they have to join some other site in order to participate in our site's tournament.

Well, I, for one, wouldn't mind copying the notation. Doing the screenshots would be quite a bit more work.; a 60 move game would be a lot of tedious capping. Compare that amount of labour to taking about a minute to create an account. It seems to be asking an awful lot of work of the players.

I guess we can copy the notation, so tohers can observe. But asking everybody else to do a lot more work to even participate just because a couple of people don't want to doesn't seem fair to me...
