Okay, I got permission from SciFi to disclose the cast, so without further ado, I present our talented actors:

Dresden - Paul Blackthorne
Murphy - Valerie Cruz
Susan - Rebecca McFarland
Morgan - Conrad Coates
Ancient Mai - Elizabeth Thai
Kirmani - Raoul Bhaneja
Bianca - Joanne Kelly

Paul, Rebecca, Elizabeth, and Conrad all worked today and they rocked.  Just terrific.  Tomorrow is the first day for Valerie, Raoul and Joanne.  Can't wait to see them.

A couple things worth noting.

- Yes, yes, we cast a petite Irish-American for Susan and a striking Cuban-American for Murphy.  The irony is not lost on us.  But they were the best actresses for the parts.  And we think you'll see our point when the movie airs.

- Personally, it's really nice having Elizabeth Thai in a pilot where she doesn't have to wear a bug suit the entire time.  And she kicks even more ass as Ancient Mai than she did as Refractions of Dawn, if that's possible.

- Conrad Coates looks awesome in a dark purple striped tailored suit.  And the man can handle a sword.

- We didn't even know that Raoul was a super-hip bluesman when we cast him.  Ignorant American bastards that we are.

- We're still working on Bob.  More to come.

I KNEW it was Elizabeth you were hinting about in the other thread. :D  Neat!

And Valerie Cruz!  Guess that means
Spoiler: click to show/hide
she isn't the Carver
in Nip/Tuck.

Congrats on lining up the cast. :)

Looking forward to seeing what Elizabeth actually looks like.  I thought that Refraction was the best characterin Andromeda, cut off in her prime, she was one ballsy little bug-lady.  I was so disapointed that you killed her off in the first episode and have never forgiven you....  well okay I forgive you    only cos  :tyr: kept me watching the show after Refraction was killed.

If anyone is interested, I've quoted Robert on the cast list over in my Live Journal, with links to the actors on IMDB, as well as links to pics when available.

Hello
New here and I hope someone can answer a question please

I have been lurking about, as I generally do, and eagerly awaiting all the updates
Thank you!

Question:

Ancient Mai - Elizabeth Thai

Where in Storm Front is this character?
It's been a while since I read it but for the life of me I cant recall her.

Ooo, I love these sort of updates. Really whets my appetite for the project.
Andromeda, Star Trek (all shows) and Doctor Who franchise episode transcripts.

Just because I didn't post a reply doesn't mean I wasn't tempted to.

Ancient Mai isn't in Storm Front.  She's in... err "Blood Rites" maybe?  One of the later books.

Gah --- I've been racking my poor little brain, but I don't remember her either; is Ancient Mai her original name, or was she Mavra? (Mavra was in Blood Rites from what I do remember. :))

ETA: See correction below regarding who the Ancient Mai is. :D

It's Summer Knight actually.  At least... I think.  And yeah, Ancient Mai is her original name, though we've reconceptualized her.  She's a pretty minor character in the books, but will have a much more major role in the movie and in the TV series (assuming we get there of course).

Thanks, Robert. :) I was just coming back to correct my post because I found her -- the Ancient Mai is in Summer Knight, so you've got it right. She's one of the wizards who is a Senior Council member and is described as "a tiny woman of Oriental extraction, her skin fine and pale....delicate features only lightly touched by the passage of years..."

I hope you get there, and lets hope this one gets a decent run before being hijacked and then butchered by poor writers.

By the way, i'm looking forward to this. I hope we get it in the UK.

Oh and Rob, you might be interested to know that Season 1 of Andromeda is currently airing again in the UK on a pretty major channel. So now the show is airing on 3 channels simultainiously. In fact, it was a family member who commented "The Bloody thing is never off the telly!"

Ill stop editing this post now.

Was watching tonight's installment of THE TRIANGLE when SciFi ran a commercial for their stuff coming up in 2006, when lo and behold, there were clips from The Dresden Files!!!!  (Brief, to be sure, but honest-to-God clips!)  I was so tickled! :D  I'm still grinning...
