So the time is approaching when we will finally get to see Vicki Nelson, Henry Fitzroy and Mike Celluci on the TV screen.

Strangely enough, the series will air on ....... Lifetime!
March 11 at 9 pm - yep , opposite you-know-who.

A Canadian premiere is scheduled for the fall on CityTV.

Years back, when Tanya Huff was watching F/X the series, she said that when Christina Cox got older, she would be perfect for playing Vicki.
Well, she got older - and she got the role :)

Henry Fitzroy is played by Kyle Schmid and Mike Cellucci by Dylan Neal.

The order was for 22 episodes :)
Tanya Huff has written one episode - and been an extra in another episode.

Most unusual - an author pretty happy with the series made from her books - you can read about her adventures on set in her livejournal

It's not unusual at all. For one thing, Jim Butcher seems pretty pleased with The Dresden Files.

And even the ones who claim not to be pleased I bet still cash the checks....

Blood Ties premieres this sunday at 9 PM on Lifetime with a 2-hour premiere.
The first half of the premiere is already available for free on iTunes.

Lifetime's Blood Ties website has lots of lovely videoclips, including some very nice behind-the-scenes ones!

Insight, the production company, has made a Blood Ties website too.

BloodTies-BloodLines - a fansite with a forum.

Blood Ties Central - a fansite

This one slipped through without fanfare. I read the first two books years ago and loved them.

Vampire? H-E-L-L-O ! I think I now have a reason to watch The First of the four Networks For Women, even though Christina's not the one with fangs. ;)

8pm CST? I might just have to watch SciFi's second showing of Dresden and BSG.

What's this series about? Wikipedia doesn't have any plot info on it.

I mean, I found a brief summary that said it's about a detective and a vampire, but what types of storylines do they explore? What's the overall tone of the series?

This is THE show I've been waiting for (another Canadian vampire show with Christina Cox - why, yes, I AM a Forever Knight fanatic LOL) - very excited and fingers crossed that it's good!

I can't believe they're putting this on opposite The Dresden Files. That's just mean -- two strong contemporary urban fantasy novel series that both get picked up for TV, and they get put on opposite each other. This is like when Chicago Hope and ER both debuted on the same night....

It may be a great show. But still when you hear it's going to air on the Lifetime channel, it makes you hesitate, and expect the worse. Kind of like the feeling you'd get if you heard your favorite book or writer was creating a new series, but it's being produced through Tribune Entertainment. Your heart sinks immediately!

And naturally, Blood Ties is on at the same damn time as Dresden Files. ARGH!!

I liked the books, although oddly enough, they're my least favorite of Tanya Huff's. She has a walloping sense of humor that comes out better in some of her other series. Even the Smoke series, which features Tony, a street kid Henry picks up off the street and who ultimately becomes a production assistant on a TV show, has a better sense of humor than the Blood series.

Vicki has to be one of the most butch, territorial, in-your-face and argumentative female characters ever created. She makes Kara in BSG look laidback. :p~ Initially this is balanced out by the fact that she has retinitis pigmentosa, which causes her to be blind at night and lose her job as a cop. Later, not so much.

.. I so totally know what you mean ;)

I canna stand it when two shows of a genre come up, the only two around, and opposite, and one gets the advantage and kills off t'other ... it's a crime to set that up! (I think that happened when B5 came up too)

About Elijah and me being boyfriend and boyfriend? Absolutely true. We've been together for about nine years. I wooed him. No I just like a lot of stuff - I like that someone says one thing and it becomes fact. It's kind of fun." --Dominic Monaghan in a phone interview with Newsweek while buying DVDs at the store. :D

I'm taping Blood Ties tonight and will tape Dresden Files tomorrow night - this is one time SciFi's incessant reairings work in my favor.

It couldn't have -- or if it did, it was only in your market, as B5 was syndicated, so its timeslot varied from market to market.....

I watched it, and I liked it enough to watch it some more! :) Just not enough to want to start a review thread on it. ;)

Wahoo! That was a close to perfect as you ever get with an adaption. It was faithful to the books, and rich in just about every way.

My only disappointment, and it's a minor one, is that the bastard son of Henry VIII really ought to have an English accent. But the casting's so perfect, that's a minor quibble.
