TrekZone: What is for you the most important message of "Star Trek" that every human should adopt for himself?

Bjo Trimble: Gene's strongest message was that the human spirit will prevail. Never give up. There are always possibilities. We try to live by that, because to give in to despair is to not only die but to kill things around you.

The longest-running science fiction series: decadent, degenerate and rotten to the core. Power-mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans... Cybermen! They're still in the nursery compared to us. Forty-three years of absolute fandom. That's what it takes to be really critical.

It was my privilege to participate in a coffee Klatch with the Trimbles at World Con 2002. Talk about a firecracker of a woman! *She reminds me of my mother*

And boy does she call it on some things:

Quote

Bjo Trimble: Nobody in the family likes "Enterprise." We watched it several episodes, but simply could not believe that this planet with all its feisty people would have allowed the Vulcans to tell us what to do! Not only that, but those Vulcans really *have* to turn out to be Romulans (including T'Pol) or I am going to be bitterly disappointed. So, the answer to that would have to be that I like the classic show. I do like the "Enterprise" characters, even when the scripts make them say or do something so entirely non-Trek that it makes my back teeth hurt. I think Captain Archer and his crew deserve better.

Go Bjo!!!!!!!!!

They should take advantage of all the Original Series crew that they have left. First, get someone who *knows* Trek to write the script (and that would certainly leave out loads of people!). Then get someone who *knows* Trek to direct (what a concept!). But do you think Paramount has the good sense to see this? Nah!

LOL!

My sentiments exactly!!!!

:D

This was my favorite line:

Quote

Bjo Trimble: No, neither of us ever ran around convention hotels screaming "Spock! Spock!" like a couple of demented flamingoes.

It's Bjo's fault :D I started donating my hair to Locks of Love -- she was at Gallifrey a few years back and solicited hair donations for this cool organization. So myself and half a dozen others donated. Next time I chop off my hair, I plan to donate it to them again -- a worthy cause. :) And a cool lady. :)

So many cool fans, so little time...

I write, therefore I am.

But... but... if it's not magic and sparkly how can I use it to reshape the universe? Without the magic sparklies, it's like... just a metaphor.

"Nemesis" was just too silly for words, and an embarrassment to Paramount.  I can't imagine what they were thinking!

I just saw Nemesis for the first time, my neighbor loaned me his DVD. I must say she is completely right!

I just back from a memorial for a friend who committed suicide at the beginning of the year. Today was his birthday and he would have been 45. This quote just hits me to the core. I must use if for my signature.

Great interview. I would consider it a great honor to meet her and her husband.

I was lucky enough to be a volunteer panel organizer at several of the Equicon conventions in LA in the early 1970s and so got to be in regular communication with Bjo and to be able to hang out with her and John a bit at the cons. She's a great person, and I see from her picture that the years have been much kinder to her than to me. :)

^ How very cool, the Trimbles seem to be folks that speak their truth, much like folks around here.

I hope they get to go to a con in the Bay area, I would love to see them.

I wish I'd known last summer. I would've gotten you and Organian to Worldcon. :D

This kind of sums up my own feelings about Enterprise.

Well, both of them are scheduled to be at Marcon next year, hopefully I'll get to see them.

The sentiments were nice, but I don't agree with her screaming for the TOS writers to be picked up. For one, TOS isn't my favorite show and er... well, it just isn't. :p

If "I" were the producers of Enterprise, I'd grab some of the DS9 writers. Too bad they're all out doing other things.
